Along with the Smiths, Prefab Sprouts, Aztec Camera, Lloyd Cole formed the heart of my literate education in music in my 20s. "Baby you're too well read, baby you're too well spoken, baby you're too pristine. When I cry do you feel anything . . . " Just one of countless indelible lines from Cole. A master songsmith!
Thank you, and all the others who have posted Lloyd Cole videos. He's so freakin' underrated, and never got the media attention he deserves... and until YT I would never have seen any of these videos.
thanks so much for posting all thes LC videos. So many memories over the years. I remember this look from the 1989-90 tour in San Fran warfield theatre. same hair. his voice was particularyly strong that night. The vocals were LOUD. I remember my ears ringing from the intense vocals when he did no blue skies & hey rusty. He really killed it for SF! amazing show.
True, the drummer is also a tiny notch too "stiff" on the beat. A little laid back feel would help for the groove. The album version has that suave and warm feel that is somewhat missing here.
Almost 30 years on and this still gets under my skin. If ever there was an underrated artist, here is Lloyd Cole...
Yes, I couldn’t agree more. I felt the same about Chris Whitley.

In Spain, there's one artist that sounds very similar, Mikel Erentxun also very recommended!
Bizarre!!!!!!!!!!! You post on an obscure vid that I have somewhere! (Drummer's pushing the tempo here).

I recognize Matthew Sweet, who is also ideal bass guitar player.

@heathhouston: Yes that is Matthew Sweet. Two artists that pursued art instead of fame.

Don't recall Lloyd with long hair...ooh la la

Immense.

Let's see, 14 thousand views for this, 31 million for Kesha's Tik Tok, kinda sad, but what can u do? No accounting for taste.

Drums sound is too strong
Lloyd looks like tired here.
