I love the idea of doing this upside down at first but what is the pivoting basket item that you used?? Did you custom make it or is it something used in another manner usually?
Great build..however, as a DIY project.. how many homeowners have a fork lift, an engine swivel, or can weld stainless steel? Beautiful job.. but not an easy build for you layperson home owner
I don't feel it would as it is all gravity set and no air space trapped. Just because it was done upside rightt does not mean it's the rbest way. Don't be closed minded
@@adigaikamei5085 If these are fully fired clinker bricks, this should also work. Although these do not store heat as well, they are fire-resistant. I would only use firebricks for the base, as the embers can quickly reach 1000°C when burning. I hope I have been able to help a little.
So, uh, I noticed you basically built a jig for quick fabrication of the domes... so when do you start taking orders? You don't even need the polished stainless steel for mine 🤣
Fire at the bottom underneath and pizza goes in at the top. Same idea as a bbq pit with charcoal grill. Except for there is no grate separating the fire from the food…..instead there is flat piece of metal.
jamesb1889 is wrong: You build a fire inside the dome to preheat the bricks (search "traditional black oven"). NY pizza & bread can bake just from the stored heat, but Neapolitan pizza bakes with also the fire burning at the rear/side of the oven, live flame + preheated oven == 90 second bake == deliciousness. Built my own oven in 2010.
This is where the term "trust the process" comes from. Its beautiful until they turn it over and take the form off and then your brain is screaming at you that they have ruined it until its finished and you see it was fine all along.

I feel like building the dome this way would create cracks/stress cracks when rotating it.

In my opinion it will be way better to do this without isolation and add it after. If you squeeze it to much it will lose some % of her properties
