- The BJP-led central government on Friday officially decided to celebrate June 25 as ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’ every year, in order to celebrate the contribution of all those who suffered the inhuman pain caused due to the imposition of ’emergency’ by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975.
Taking to X, Union Home Minister Amit Shah wrote, “On 25 June 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, showing her dictatorial mindset, strangled the soul of Indian democracy by imposing emergency in the country. Lakhs of people were jailed without any reason and the voice of the media was suppressed.”
“The Government of India has decided to celebrate 25 June every year as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’. This day will remind us of the immense contribution of all those people who suffered the inhuman pain of the Emergency of 1975,” he added.

These Congressmen always makes loud noise about Constitution. But in reality these people are dangerous to our Constitution. If the situation not suits them then they will impose emergency again. During emergency, I was in teens, in medical school and like many young guys I was angry. But I saw a lot worse, and constitutional breakdown in my state AP, between 2019-24 under YCP rule. But I didnt see either BJP or national media saying or doing anything during those 5 years.
Actually opposition party first react on such matters. If govt still won't take action they have to give representation to Governor. As a political party it has to go to media. But i didn't see any such thing from your opposition party. ( Iam from Telangana)

It is very appropriate to celebrate 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' on 25th June next year because next year this black day will complete 50 years. Most of the citizens of India are below 50 years of age. It is therefore very important for all of them to know about this dark period so that they can understand what kind of tortures people had to face during that black period. 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' will remind people about the sacrifices & struggle of the people of India to secure 2nd freedom for their country. It will instill respect & value of Indian Constitution in their lives.

Rahul, I learnt recently that the Constitution was drafted by the British in 1946, which draft was then given to Dr. Ambedkar to edit, but without making any changes. I understand Dr. Ambedkar said in Parliament that if it was up to him, he would burn the Constitution, as he found it absolutely appalling and impossible to digest.
