  • Shocking ASMR: Don’t try this at home
Don’t try colour changing your items at home, it won’t be pretty.
Our client undertook a colour change of her beloved heels and quickly realised it wasn’t as easy as we make it look. Everything from the product to the execution was wrong and her idea of securing pink shoes that Barbie would be proud of quickly became flawed.
Utilising a range of specialist products, our artisan was able to lift the botched pink colourant off the leather and prepare them for their transition to black.
Throughout the process, they continued to nourish the leather to re-hydrate after the pink colourant had pulled out the natural supple elements of the leather. From here, the black dye was applied conservatively and secured with a sealant to ensure that the colour change would stay in place for years to come.
The process of expertly colour changing these heels was a satisfying one and we know you’ll agree that the circularity of these heels is super satisfying and we encourage you to look through your own closets to find what can be restored. That pink is to die for❤
But it was done crazy. A proper color and finish could have made the pink a lot more barbie-like!

Barbie would have loved the colour if the change was done professionally. It's a shame she decided to go black instead but at least she has a classic pair of heels to interchange her closet seamlessly now.

You did an excellent job on those shoes. It'd be interesting to know what on earth she used to dye them with. I remember years ago using a dye I got from a shoe repair shop, and dyed a pair of red shoes navy blue, then back to red again, and they never turned out like that.

Thank you for your praise of our artisans work. This client used an acrylic paint that didn't compliment the leather at all, making the colour change impossible.

it looks like she just colored them in with a washable Crayola marker, reminds me of being a kid and trying to "decorate" my sneakers

😂😂 we've all been there when we think we're designers and it doesn't quite turn out as we'd hoped

I’ve done diy leather painting with shoes. There are tons of helpful videos out there. But I would never try it on anything expensive or sentimental.
