It's amazing how much better all of these actors are.. and the sets! Having so many people together at once makes things more realistic. I wish there were more "friends" and groups on today like there were then.
I guess with the reduced budgets they just can't afford to have as many actors on contract. The sets also seem a lot cheaper now too. No summer adventure shoots, it makes it all seem so different than this time period of soaps. I think we can thank people turning to talk shows for entertainment instead of watching soaps as a reason for the reduced budgets.

Yeah..... back then it seemed that the actors took their job VERY seriously. They were very dedicated to giving their audience their best performances. They were very generous and giving... Today it seems to be about taking... a bunch of actors are too busy using their soap fans to market their products and/or spend too much time promoting their singing careers.....more concerned about lining their pockets with their celebrity... when some should be taking acting classes!!

Teresa Carter story line was the worst thing they ever wrote. I still can't believe that was the only way the writers could come up with to write Laura off. My kids could write a better story. I HATE that they made Laura so fragile & made her go insane. What an insult to the character & GF.
Rick and Monica were in love. Rick was reported dead (maybe Vietnam but I'm not sure). She married Jeff Webber in rebound. Rick showed up alive and eventually Monica got a divorce from Jeff. Rick married Leslie, Monica Married Alan. Then the night w/ Monica happened.
La Lake Rick was working as a doctor in Kenya. A plane he was in went down and he was thought dead but lost in the jungle for a couple of years. Monica married Jeff and then Rick came back! That was about when Leslie Charleston came on as Monica. One of my first storylines.
Is there a Clip anywhere on RUclips of that infamous night of the Rick/Monica Saga? I've been searching for it. I saw it back in the Summer or Spring of 1979. As I recall. Is it anywhere, like maybe on one of the GH Channels anywhere? Please let me know if you find it.👍👍.

2023 and Laura has grown into the strong independent woman we knew she would. Mayor of Port Charles, saved the world from another weather machine because she remembered the code from 42 years ago. She is amazing and has an excellent husband in Kevin.
Whatever Rick says, I'm watching 1983 and he had a huge flirtation with Rose Kelly. He made Leslie's life difficult, and in 1982 Rick very much had a double meaning when he asked Monica about having "another round." He was not that nice a guy from the beginning - not the meaning from 2002 - but still believable that he could be a cheat. Remember scene at Monica and Alan's first party where he made Lesley feel awful when he kept saying how beautiful Monica was...Rick had no good sense.

He told her he wouldn't give her the title of wife, gf or to even live together. It was so sad to see her crushed. I think the idea in her heartbreak stories surrounding Leslie isabout how these men, no matter how admirable they may be, Rick .. she loved too hard and gave of herself more than her mates did. If the show had a saint - it was Leslie

Yes you are right. Monica was delivering A J and Lesley was helping her. Monica thought she would die cause home delivery, ect so she told Leslie baby Ricks.
I see how they're using the Rick/Lesley announcement to Laura to cause in her mind - to rethink about being "honest" with Scottie, but her reasoning is faulty here... you can't draw an even parallel analogy, both situations are different. Just because "honesty" caused Rick/Lesley thing to break wide open, which actually is oversimplified because they haven't told Laura all the details here about Monica's baby, etc.) but anyway - just because there is this one set of circumstances, doesn't mean at all that if she was to have told Scottie everything at this point regarding how it all went down with Luke, and why she got scared of being judged or misunderstood for her "role" in it (in her mind) or the feeling of having sympathy for Luke's impending assignment and how he thought he'd be dead, etc. basically, even if she had spilled out all these things to Scottie at this point, it could have gone a completely different direction than her parents. He could have had the chance to understand what had been happening with her all these months and why, and though he may have been infuriated and confused and possibly flew into a rage initially... he may have had a feeling of things falling into place and making sense more, and they (Laura and Scottie) possibly could have recovered and had a much stronger relationship. (in theory, or course because these are written characters subject to the whim of the writers, lol!)
Aw, that's sad, they really were close and Rick was basically a good guy before Guza got a hold of him and turned him into nothing but a serial womanizer. The exact same thing he's doing to Luke now.
Luke feels really guilty. He doesn't want to talk about it with Scott because he struggles with it himself. I think he is also worried about the pressure on Laura from Scott because he's so relentless about finding out who the rapist is.
