With #9, On bedrock when it’s loading and it gives you “game tips” it tells you to shift when on magma blocks, so it was intentional
The sneaking on magma thing is probably related to walking on hot coals, in which the easiest way to avoid your feet burning is to walk slowly and evenly. It's a real thing, and ever since I heard about it in school (Mythbusters ofc), I've always assumed that's why magma blocks work the way they do
Exactly thank you
In reality walking on hot coals is mostly about walking for almost half an hour on cold grass so that you don't really feel the heat for a short period of time
That's not at all how it works. Walking more slowly on something hot increases heat transfer, period. Going slower or "more evenly" won't defy physics. Now if you have a lot of dead coals on top, you can fool people, and that's how it's usually done in performances and confidence boosting/hypnosis scams.
Just enchant your boots with frost walking

@@redpotat5498 aren't the black parts technically obsidian? Although idk if in real life solid lava and solid magma are both called obsidian or not
About magma blocks: Their texture looks as if it is a hot rock with magma holes, so the idea is that if you’re shifting, you’re being very carefully where you step and taking it slow, and as such don’t take damage because you don’t step on the hot part of the magma. Also,
wearing frost walker boots makes it so you don’t take damage from magma

If you stumble onto this video in more recent times, ever since the Caves and Cliffs update (1.18+) you only need a Light Level of at least 1 or higher now to prevent hostile mobs from spawning. In the video here (at the end, 10:00) he says you need a Light Level of 7, but now it is only 1.
