    Just what I needed to hear. I have a flip pc laptop that I want to use and it is a 15"x10" which as best as I can tell will fit right into the holder. Found you on B&H.

      Great!! Sounds like it should work, but I always recommend calling Glide Gear to make sure, but the TMP-750 should work fine.
      I use it on almost all of my videos. Works great and very sturdy and durable.

    Can you recommend an external monitor for for the type of Teleprompter do you have in the review? Even if you can’t recommend a specific brand and model, I would appreciate any basics and price range that chemical complex the basic goal of positioning.

      Really, any decent audio should work fine. Depending on your eyesight (😂), it works well up to about 12 feet away (also depending on your prompting software). Saramonic makes some really nice and affordable audio options.

    Question for someone who knows nothings about these. My husband tells me he wants a teleprompter, he has a 11.8 in screen ipad. Does he need a camcorder to go with this? He has a regular camera for taking pictures, would that work?

    Thanks for the great review! I'm a therapist and doing all my sessions over video, trying to get the most natural "look into your eyes" experience for my clients. What, in your opinion is the biggest size screen I can use with it? (I will be getting a video monitor with "flip" features)

      @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876  3 года назад +1

      The 750 works with any tablet. If you have a laptop with a flip screen, it will also fit that. Just make sure you have a teleprompter app that works with whatever tablet/laptop you’re planning to use.
      If you have a smaller tablet, you can check out the other Glide Gear options, such as the TMP-100 or TMP-500, which are less expensive. If you have something the size of an iPad Pro, you will need the TMP-750.
      I’ve been using it now for several months, and it works great.

      @@italkapple.mac.istuff.7876 Thanks for the reply! I'm going to use an external monitor that can flip the image (I heard that video monitors can do that) so I was looking at the furthest distance the clamps for the laptop/tablet can open up. You are using the ipad Pro 12.9"? Is there any spare room in the clamp ? Thanks so much!

      Yes. There’s space. I’m not at the studio right now so I can’t tell you exactly how much space. However, according to GlideGear User Manual for the TMP-750, “the maximum display the TMP-750 will accommodate WITHOUT PART OF THE SCREEN BEING CUT OFF is 11.5” x 9” (29cm x 22cm).
      Hope that helps.

    Well understandable Sir, Thank you
    On teleprompter apps, what do you think about using Powerpoint presentation in a teleprompter? I found ppt mirror tool which flips and mirror the slides for iPad or smartphones, do you think it can be a good option..... thank you agin

    • @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876
      @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876  3 года назад

      I think if you found a mirroring app and it works for you, sounds like a great option.
      The main reason I use PromptSmart Pro app is because of voice recognition. but it’s a fairly pricey app ($20) AND requires a $2/month subscription to unlock all the features, so if you can use ppt and do basically the same thing and save yourself some $$, I think you’re probably on to something.
      Let me know how it works. 😎

    Thanks so much for posting your great review. I'd like to use the 750 with my surface pro 6 which I think is just under 12 inches. I have a few questions: A) If I use my surface pro I would be detaching it from the keyboard. Will my mouse still work to control the rate of the scroll or should I get a remote for that? B) is the 17 inch screen size too big since it will only be about a desk width away from me...ie. will it detect my eye shift, or will that be cured if I place the text more in the middle of the screen?

    • @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876
      @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876  3 года назад

      A. I'm not 100% sure if the mouse will work, but I wouldn't see why not. There aren't any attachments or electrical components that connect from the tablet to the teleprompter. It probably depends on the app you're using for your script.
      B. This is straight from the TMP-750 user's manual: "Tablet/Cell phone: the maximum display the TMP 750 will accommodate without part of the screen not being cut off is 11.5”x 9” or 29cm x 22cm". The screen will manually fit, but you may have to adjust the display size or just centering the text in the middle of the screen and you should be fine. I use an iPad Pro 12.9" and haven't had any issues at all.
      As far as "eye shift", it depends on how wide your desk is, how animated you are while talking/reading the script (slight, natural head motion distracts the viewer from the eye shift). I'm usually about 3 to 7 feet away and there doesn't seem to be any issue with obvious eye shift in the videos. The TMP-750 was filmed using the teleprompter and a script.
      Thanks for the great questions and thanks so much for watching! Any other questions, let me know. I'll do my best to answer.

    Thanks for the excellent review! 2 thumbs up! Question please. For my Canon Vixia G60 camcorder, should I get the 500 model or the 750 model? Which will fit better? My Canon G60 camcorder has a very short built-in lens.

    • @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876
      @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876  3 года назад +1

      The dimensions of the G60 are 4.3x3.6.x8.4” (10.9x9.1x21.3cm). I’m almost certain the TMP-500 would work just fine and save yourself $100 US. According to the TMP-500 user’s manual, it will accommodate “without part of the part of the screen being cut off is 9.9x5” (25x12.5cm). You might want to call GlideGear just to be 100% sure - (843) 945-4031 - before you order. But again, the TMP-500 should work just fine.
      Hope this helps. Thanks for the comment/question.

      @@italkapple.mac.istuff.7876 Thank you so much for your detailed reply, I appreciate that! I've read many reviews on the Glide Gear TMP 500 model both from Amazon and B&H Photo. It appears the 500 model has many spotty reviews, users are saying the rails are not even, or too short, or the hood has a poor fit, the glass is at wrong angle, the screw holding the rig is flimsy, etc. But I noticed on the Glide Gear website that they added some upgrades to the TMP 500 model, which says "NEW FEATURES 8-25-20
      -adjustable glass position
      -fitted camera sock
      -accessory mounting options" So I'm wondering if these new updates resolved the issues that users are reporting? Oddly, the TMP 100 has many more reviews and they are mostly positive. I'm guessing the 100 model might be more sturdy because it has a large metal plate on the bottom, but that's all a moot point because I don't think the 100 model will fit my camcorder. The 500 model appears to be able to fit my Canon G60 camcorder better, but I'm concerned about the 2 bottom rails that users are reporting issues on their reviews. The 750 model looks like a beast, and I'm guessing is more sturdy versus the 500 model, but the 750 model may be overkill for my camcorder. So these concerns are making me indecisive. Hmmm...

    • @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876
      @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876  3 года назад

      All of the TMP models are aluminum constructed, so I think the 500 would be pretty sturdy, especially the newly updated model. One thing to consider is, IF you are thinking about upgrading/getting a larger camcorder in the future, you may want to consider the 750 so you wouldn’t have to buy one later. If not, the 500 should work quite well for you, especially if you are doing mostly in-studio work. If you are planning on-location work, that may be something to consider as well. Both have adjustable-angle glass and adjustable height for the camera, which is very nice. I have not used the 500, so I wouldn’t be comfortable giving it a recommendation. But again, the 500 is all-aluminum construction, so it really shouldn’t be an issue. You could always get the 500 and if not happy with it, return for the 750. Also, I have several GlideGear products and all are well-constructed and sturdy, so I really don’t think it will be an issue with the 500, but again, I have no experience with it. From the specs, I really think the only difference between the 500 and 750 are the sizes of the camera and teleprompter device (iPad/tablet) that it will accommodate.

      @@italkapple.mac.istuff.7876 Fantastic, thanks for the updated reply! Lastly, can you tell me if you purchased your TCP 750 directly from Glide Gear's website? Or from B&H or from Amazon? I ask this question because I've read reviews saying Glide Gear is slow to respond to inquiries about refunds, so I'm wary to buy from Glide Gear, although their site says they offer something like 15% off a purchase. I'm more likely to order from B&H because I trust them, plus they rebate back the tax amount cuz I have their Payboo account. Amazon can be hit or miss for returns.

      I got mine directly from GlideGear, but that was only because it had just become available. When I bought mine, it wasn’t available at B&H or amazon. I typically use B&H though - you can’t go wrong with them. I will say, though, I did call GlideGear to ask questions and the lady I spoke to was very nice and very knowledgeable.

    • @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876
      @italkapple.mac.istuff.7876  3 года назад

      honestly, I don't know much about the Ikan. I did look at it on B&H and they look fairly similar. However, some quick differences I notice: the ikan has a reading range of up to 14’. the glidegear tmp-750 has a reading range of 15’. the ikan supports a slightly larger tablet 13x9” compared with the tmp-750 that supports 11.5x9”. the ikan comes with a Bluetooth remote. the tmp-750 does not. they both have 15mm rod supports. the hood on the ikan is probably a better design with rear zipper and magnetic attachment. but I’m not sure, for me anyway, that those differences on the ikan are worth more than double the price of the tmp-750.
      hope that helps. thanks for the question. don’t forget to subscribe 😁
