Interesting video of Villa De Leyva and Barichara. Both places looked pretty similar in video and both seemed very quaint. Enjoyed seeing the cemetery in Barichara. The Tombstones were so unusual, especially the one with the Sewing Machine. Very creative and it gives a good remembrance to the life of the deceased.
We have felt as safe here as we have anywhere else! There are, of course, 'dodgy' areas (as there is in any City/Country) But we don't tend to go out late at night and try to make smart decisions ☺️
After five decades of living outside colombia, I decided to return to my native home town near villa de leyva, and I enjoy visiting the more than 150 towns of Boyaca and Santander Departments which offer a variety of panoramic views, picturesque environment, good food and serene atmosphere...
Great video! I am from Colombia, my now mom lives close to Villa de Leyva and I recently went there for the first time with my wife. We actually went to the same places you did! Next time check out Raquira, it is pretty close to Villa de Leyva and is known for handmade pottery. We brought back some really cool decorations.
Loving this Colombian series! Do you usually eat out for all your meals or have a mix of eating out and buying basic food to cook/heat and eat at your accommodation? I find eating out day after day can be a bit tiring, especially when changing towns every few days.
Yay! We are glad you are enjoying 🇨🇴❤️ We honestly go back and forth on eating out/cooking so much. Whenever we have too much of one we yearn for the other! Generally cost makes us cook a lot more, like in the States we tried to cook a alot but in Colombia we have eaten out for more meals ☺️
They are just a couple of Colombia's colonial towns, you should go to Mompox, a beautiful and historical town, Santa Fe de Antioquia, among many others.

Thank you for this great vlog. In the Autumn we'll be visiting these beautiful colonial towns Villa de Leyva, Mongui, Socorro, San Gil, Barichara. I cannot wait! We'll be travelling with our young children by car. Do you think that the area is safe enough to travel by car?
That potato is called "Creole Potato" or Papa Criolla it is the best tasting potato on Earth. Fact The Soup is Called Cha- angua Its a poached egg with Italian bread Cilantro milk/water soup and salt, I do not put cheese on mine. It's Delicious and the cilantro takes out all the pollution and metals in your body. Colombians put Cilantro in a lot of dishes.
Colombians put mozzarella cheese in their Hot chocolate I know it's sounds weird but it makes it fun to drink/eat. we are a long way from Michelin stars but we are trying😁@@JordanandEmily
@@JordanandEmily yes can understand as no choice there. I now call it mindfulness walking that way I don’t break a bone or embarrass myself by falling over and yes it has happened on those rotten paths in Berlin.😂😂😂😂😝😝😝😝
What town are you picking - Villa De Leyva or Barichara? 🇨🇴
I (Emily) vote Barichara 🙋♀

That cemetery was very unique! Both towns look very cute but I think somehow Barichara was better because things didn't go to plan 😀

I think it will be! There are a few rough roads around towns but all the main roads and people are great!
Villa de Leyva ❤❤❤
So good!!!
Hi guys, which place have you been in the mountains? before that trip to Leyva and Barichara.
It was a town called Macheta, we stayed at an awesome Airbnb there!
Great content
What month was this?
Thank you! I beliueve it was Late May or early June!
Spanish colonial towns are so beautiful. From southern united state to Argentina. 🕎✝️
completely agree, absolutely gorgeous
Thank you!

Papas criollas when they're slightly fried with some drops of lemon, salt, pepper and ketchup, can't beat that
Cobble stones are my nemesis 😂😂😂😂😂
😄 we had to get used to them! The wheely bags are not a fan though!

Could make your life easier and more comfortable renting a car here
This is true haha, driving in bogota looked a bit scary so we opted for buses!
How old are you?
Both 29!
