First off- GREAT Tutorial! Thank you! But I do have 2 questions: I am trying to create 12" x 12" digital scrapbook paper. When I add the swatch to the 12 x 12 there are lines that run through the design. Is there something I need to do to fix this? Question 2: when I close out of Ai the swatch doesn't save (or at least I can't find it)...is this what should happen or what can I do to ensure I can find it in the future?
Thank you! Are the lines super thin? In that case, that's just how Illustrator renders the pattern. The way the swatches work - you can either save a file with the swatch applied to a rectangle or other shape, and the swatch will be in that file. Or, you can save a Swatch library into your folder structure. That way it would be there each time you open a new doc.

Thanks for the tutorial. Supposing I want to chnge the background from white to a different colour. How do I do that for the polka dots. Thanks
I would select the shape, then go to the Appearance panel and add a new fill underneath the polka dot fill to do this!
Brilliant!
Thank you!!
Do you sell your work on creative fabrica cause would like to know how as a designer it works for licensing
No, I don't. I'm not sure of how their model works/pays.

@@GDHT Thank you for replying! Yes the lines are super thin but visible :-( . I will give these a try to saving!
Most of the time, the lines disappear if you export to raster, like jpg or png.
Great tutorial 👌👌👌
Thank you 🙂
thank you !!!
You're welcome!
Thank you! how do you save the file for printing?
Make sure the artboard is the print size (8.5x11, for example). Then save as a PDF.
is there a way to not make the other pattern change colors if you change one?
Yes, you can expand them, then they won't be linked to the pattern anymore.
Hi Anne, is there any way to expand the shape of the pattern itself into an object ?? ... don't want them inside a square or circle or whatever ..
Yes - you can fill a shape, then expand. Then delete all the extra pieces you don't want.
