Sometimes traveling make me pack a lot to the point my luggage won't close anymore which I can relate to. Anyway, personally I like a carry-on with many compartments so I won't need to open the whole bag and pull out some things just to find something. Good thing my friend recommended me Nomad Lane Bento bag which is just perfect! It has compartments and nylon zippers. It also has trolley sleeve which is really travel stress-free. You'll surely like it!
