Filter the water using, I believe iron filings, which will remove the arsenic. The arsenic is in the sediment washed down from the Himalayas that forms the land in Bangladesh.

“Poisoned gift” is an irresponsible and conflict driven way to refer to the safe water movement promoting wells in the 70s. Disease ridden, sewage-contaminated surface water is a horrible scourge. Referring to the arsenic problem as mass poisoning as if this was intended is also extremely irresponsible. It’s fine to promote that the country be assisted with the arsenic issue. Scape goating, however, makes people so suspicious that they could resist public health measures which vastly improved the health of other countries long long ago. The problem with Bengal and all developing countries is usually corruption which leads to funds being poorly managed.

That is strange because I heard that Bangladesh is the land of rivers

True, but not all the river waters are drinkable, again there are some dry lands in the north western part of country.

Yes but how many actually die from it and how many died from contaminated water from the surface

Providing clean water available for people is very important from the millions of Tube Wells fitted. However, any water testing first carried may be OK, but it hasn't been tested after that. It's a very simple test and should be carried out by the right people at least twice annually. For the poor areas where tube well water is now available, the people are eternally grateful but oblivious to think that it may be not totally safe to drink. Who is responsible for this?????

Its okay to be angry. The educated man didnt allow the effected woman a voice for that question.

A very poor piece of journalism, not the usual standard I expect from Al Jazeera!! I waited right to the end for someone to explain where the arsenic comes from 🤷 she kept saying the tube wells,as though there was something in the well itself 😂 only half the story there!
