This vid is exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for including the Figma file in your description as well🙌 Looking forward to watching more vids from you Soren, you got yourself a new sub.

Love this method of teaching. Although I am curious: Rather than create all those variants, would it be more efficient to just include an instance swap for the icons and a boolean prop to toggle the text lines and leading and tailing icons, or would this create too much complexity and maybe comply to an anti pattern that breaks readability principals? I am a front end dev who recently started learning figma and so I am trying to understand if the principals are like that of coding. Thanks!

Soren quick question: while designing lists of items should I set a value for 'spacing between items' with padding of each item set to zero OR should I add a padding value for each item and set the 'spacing between items' to zero and rely on padding for separation, or a combo of the two, what's a better practice in your opinion?

Hi Soren, I might be mistaken but there seems to be a difference between the way you've created components and variants and another method I see more commonly. You created a component set and applied variant rules afterwards; I usually see instructions to create a component first, then dress it up with variants/booleans afterward (like in this video: ruclips.net/video/BbTiMmnsjqE/видео.html). What're the benefits and drawbacks of these 2 methods? They seem to yield the same outcome but in different methods. Thank you!

Great fallout, I think it’s a question of working style for me. However, with super complicated components the video you shared might be a more scalable approach.
Generally, I find that some people aren’t able to quickly grasp all the semantics of Boolean values, etc, so I try to adopt more of a “learn by doing” approach with my videos. Hope that answers your question.
