    What good would an autism diagnosis do? Realistically, probably not much, but for a lot of autistic people, having a word for "Why I am that way" is extremely helpful, and further you can work with your doctor (at least the one that diagnosed you) to figure out what's healthy for your type of autism. Not saying you need to get a diagnosis, just laying out why it MIGHT help

    Thank you so much for talking about die I'm only new to role playing games but I have a huge passion and love for comic books and especially independent comics. Die is one of the best series I've seen so far it has a great pacing , complex characters , gorgeous artwork, intricate lore + world building and somehow weaves this meta history lesson of role playing games and the texts that have influenced them into its narrative. I didn't fully get all the references in it but you can tell the sheer amount of work that's been put into it, it's a great read from start to finish

      So glad you liked it! I actually really loved Kieron's 'further reading' sections, it was unbelievable how much research he put into the series!

    I didn't know you covered this series, right until the Snarf Quest video.
    If you liked it, I can only suggest you try some of the other series Kieron Gillen has written "Once and Future," "Phonogram," and especially "Wicked and Divine."

    Thanks for the video! Good thoughts on DIE, by far the comic book I most obsess about. I also feel that it was written specifically for me, for my lived experience... Gillen has a way of doing that as Wicked & Divine had a lot of that, as well. And indeed I relate to Ash so much I had to tattoo her on myself. Looking forward to the RPG!

    It's been a couple of years, but I wanted to drop by and leave a comment saying thanks for this video.
    I read the series because of you, and loved it. I own the full collected edition, and bought the rpg as well.
    In a couple weeks, I'm leading a book club discussing DIE, again thanks to your video.
    It's probably a longshot, but if you have any questions you think would make for good discussion, please let me know.
    Regardless, thanks again and all the best.

    I cannot relate more to what you said about learning social skills. I was always much more comfortable expressing myself through the written word and text. I realized it was because I could control and plan out my thoughts, reactions, and replies. I didn't have to actually be the spastic me, I could come across however I wanted. I just needed to learn how to. So I deliberately learned how to act and speak, and as you said it's a noticeable difference how people respond to you. Just wanted to let you know that a lot more than just the RPG elements of your videos resonate heavily with me. For me the hardest part of social interaction is that it's exhausting, extremely exhausting.
    So keep up the amazing content and keep letting us get to know you as a creator bit by bit! Love the channel and the content, thank you so much!

    I think the RPG horror story stuff is a little bit overblown I think so much of it's sensationalized by youtube and other social media, I think it's the same reason most people don't bother to post positive reviews, It's the same reason why in the early 2010s so many nostalgia critic/cinema sins clones were popping up on youtube, it's easy to dunk on something that's bad, it's harder to explain why something was good, many D&D campaigns are deeply personal or too detailed to adequately explain in a single reddit post or youtube video, I mean look at Dingo Doodle's Fool's Gold video series very engaging and good but also thick with information and harder to put in a consise way, if I had a gun to my head I would say my campaign's story so far is ''A bunch of Isekai'd characters from different fantasy worlds have to find a way to live in a new world where lots of different fantasy peoples and creatures live and now they're fighting a evil rat king'' that sentence doesn't even encompass 98.42 of everything that has happened, it's easy to tell the story of a fucked up and evil DM who did extremely fucked up shit because the core of the issue has less to do with the nitty gritty of the game the highlights are in the bad parts very easy to explain in a single post, and that's why I think D&D horror storries are so common it's more of a vocal minority.

    The bit about friendship and group ownership? Solid gold. The one takeaway from DMing for 40+ years is that I tell my players -I- don't own the game, -WE- do, and getting that player buy-in only enhances the game for all.
    [Also CHARACTERS can keep secrets from one another, but PLAYERS should avoid it, but I digress....]

    what a diagnose would help? I don't know. Maybe that you know yourself better thus may or may not learn to not feel completly horrible after you let someone near you?
    Okay I exaggerate. My point is: Knowing yourself, understanding yourself better helps to be a happier person.
    That said: I think while a lot of social skills comes naturallly there's still what we have to learn from observing. Of course most people don't have to go the length you did. What I'm trying to say is: You are not that alien you may or not may feel compared to other people.
    I probably come across like a douchbag but my intention comes from a good place. I mean this video is a year old. Don't know what you think about that now or if you know that all already.
    Anyways.
    Don't be afraid to open up. You are not alone.
    P.S If you don't want people to speculate you probably shouldn't mention autism in the fist place :| People usually do that anyway after hearing such claims

  • @Kolyarut
    @Kolyarut Год назад

    People would really do that? Design RPG characters as proxies to work through their issues? Uhh heh. Heh heh. Can't relate. *nervous laughter* Not at all. Fuck, I'm going to have to read this comic, aren't I. [EDIT: Removed the spoiler, though as you suggested it wasn't a hard one to guess, called it within the first few seconds of you introducing the character, not that I'm sensitive to these things]

    I think the 'don't speculate, you don't know me' comment was a bit aggressive as a way to head off comments that haven't even had time to accumulate on your video, yet. If you're 'just reading a script' and didn't want people to talk about this subject, you shouldn't have mentioned it in the video. It shouldn't have been in your script.
    Strange your sensitivity reader didn't catch that.

    • @FlawlessDesigns1
      @FlawlessDesigns1 2 года назад +2

      Sounds like this book wasn't for you. But if you've never played an RPG, and are complaining about "woke crap", then I'm not exactly suprised. Comics, and role playing games, are primarily mediums created by people who were outcasts as kids, so they tend to have compassion and respect for people who are a bit different. Maybe you could learn a thing or two.
