Buddy Rich was someone Neil idolized. Heck, *I* idolize Buddy Rich now. But Neil reached a much wider audience and had a more direct influence to the music most of us here grew up with. I hadn't even heard of Buddy until years after Neil had given me my spark. "Better" =/= "more inspiring".
Buddy was arguably the better drummer. But Neil was THE inspiration.
And that's all I have to say on that.

So I've gone down the RUclips rabbit hole tonight, and in the past hour I've watched Maria Barbieri cover YYZ on guitar, Anna Sentina cover it on bass, and you cover it on drums. You three would make the most amazing Rush cover band ever -- and I can't wait to show these to my daughter in the morning. I can show her the Rush in Rio DVD all day, but she pays twice as much attention when she sees a girl doing something she likes to do. She's only 5 and wants to learn an instrument, and I have no doubt this is really going to inspire her. Thank you!

She makes me feel like a novice! AS SHE SMILES!! With that beautiful smile while playing, just to make it look even easier!! What a wonderful talent brought to us!
Good, loving tribute to Neil Peart, himself. He will be missed by all who have remembered him and his brilliant drumming for the rock band Rush in his lifetime. Rest in peace.

Been watching your covers for a little bit and I love how you can actually tell how much you were concentrating on this song. Not an easy task to nail this cover by any means and when you look at the camera a 2:22 and give a little "Oh My God, please let me smash the rest of this", it shows a quality of humility and also appreciation for what you know will be a highly viewed and critiqued video. Over 1.4 mil views as of right now! I think you nailed it as you always do, at least in the videos I've watched. Keep killin it!!

I goofed around on the drums in a high school band playing rush, led zep, acdc. But was never this good!!! Sold my drums 26 yrs ago to get my wife an engagement ring and haven't played since. Wow, this is awesome and inspiring. Makes we want to go out and buy an old set just to play around again!!

I responded a while back to a snarky commenter on a video of an eight-year-old girl playing her heart out covering (if I remember correctly) Spirit of Radio. The commenter was of the opinion that this kid had a long way to go to reach Neil's level. My response was A)who the fuck are you to judge anyone ( a CHILD, no less) who is doing their best to emulate a master and B) Neil himself, reiterating the words of Bob Dylan, said, "what more can you do for someone than to INSPIRE them?" As a devout Rush fanatic, it fills my heart with joy to see the masters of tomorrow being inspired by those WE grew up with.

She locks in very precisely. There is not the mechanical approach to merely copying the algorithm of Peart’s playing.
This drummer seems to get the entire idea of what Peart wrote for himself.

I have been a rush fan for over 30 years, went to the same school as Geddy and Alex (Go Northview Heights SS). I have been to Drum clinics and met the band. I will say that you have executed RUSH songs almost perfectly and Neil himself would be praising you right now. Keep it up, I have sent one of your singles to my uncle who works as a DJ for a rock station near Toronto.

The only problem is she doesn't get lost in her playing. It's like you can tell she's analyzing every hit. There's no soul there, just practice and training.
At least she doesn't fake getting lost in her music. She enjoys it the way she enjoys it. I think that's great.
