My little chihuahua was diagnosed with CHF in 2017; so he's now right close to 5 years post-diagnosis. He stays fairly active for his age of 11 years. I make it a point not to feed him food or treats with salt, and that helps, I think. When he doesn't want to eat, I get him chicken and cook it so I know there's no salt. Adding the chicken and broth cooked with no spices at all I believe has been very beneficial. I hope this helps anyone caring for a very beloved pet with CHF.

Stop telling her about how what's she's doing is wrong! Guys- she's telling you what worked for her dog and what may have helped prolonged its life. She even explains how she worked with a dog nutritionist, vet, and cardiac specialist! If you don't agree with it, then work with those folks on your own and come up with a plan that suits your beliefs and is guided by your vet and catered to your dog. It's not like she's saying "this is the only diet that works for every dog!". I know we're all stressed and sad because our dogs are sick, but be thankful that she is sharing this with us instead of nit picking and saying you could design a better diet. Let's be real, 2.5 years alive after CFH diagnosis is excellent! She's doing something right or is insanely lucky. Or both. I'm thankful for this advice and recipe and will double check with my dog's cardiologist and will tweak based on their guidance.
An unhealthy diet is an unhealthy diet for humans or our beloved canines. So for you to ask all to look the other way and sugarcoat what is an atrocious diet for man or beast is counterproductive and asinine! Speaking truth to what is clearly an unhealthy combination of foods is not being cruel but the ultimate gesture of kindness in the long run. I would wager that you are of the liberal mindset that giving kids - or anyone for that matter a trophy just for showing up instead of earning it is a wonderful thing to do. This mindset is what creates avoidable problems in society in the first place. If you can't handle truth - get yourself a teddy bear and go to bed. Oh and by the way we don't put all our faith and trust in a medical system (for man or pet) that is focused on $$$$ and misinformation. God has placed most everything we need on this planet to assist in our health and healing. And chemical cocktails formulated by mankind are most often counter productive and a total $$$$ rabbit hole cleverly designed to ensnare us and keep us (to include our pets) dependent on the system - often times perpetually. Now with that said does this mean I am anti medical establishment - of course not. The diagnostics and emergency care aspect of our medical establishment is probably the best in the world and is absolutely essential. True story; We have a customer who is nationally known for her talent in dog agility training. She called us one year and informed us that she may not be able to hire us for the upcoming season. The reason for this is that two of her beloved lead dogs involved in her training program got sick and she was duped under duress into forking out over $10,000.00 dollars to save them. Well guess what? They died anyways and she was left with a whopping hole in her heart - not to mention her finances! While very sad - when we have done all we can holistically and lovingly - we have to let them go. I cry like a baby when I lose a beloved dog - its like someone yanked my heart out when I lost my beloved Tootsie a few years ago. Tootsie didn't have to die. Her teeth were failing and we had to watch her fade away due to the greed of the veterinary medical establishment who without a thought quoted us over $3000.00 to pull a few teeth. The least they could have done is given us natural information on how we could give her comfort and extend her life. But of course there is no $$$$$ in that so we painfully watched her waste away! I still find myself thinking of this special loving little creature from time to time and it brings me sadness and some joy and appreciation for a God that graced us with her presence in our life. It is my fervent prayer that I will one day be reunited with this beloved special little dog (and others) lost in my lifetime when I pass.

My dog with 14yo, was diagnosed with CHF and doesn't want to eat at all, even meat. His stomach and intestines are fine and the vet thinks that he's disliking food due to the amount of medicines. I don't know what to do anymore, but i'll give this recipe a try 😥
Same with my dog. She’s 14 and has heart disease and fluid in her lungs. The vet has her on a lot of medication and she recently stopped eating. I boiled her chicken in just water and made plan rice this morning. She ate all of it and wanted more.
Have you tried CBD? It could help with both issues as it is a natural anti inflammatory. Just make sure you get a high quality pet approved one that is tested. It saved my 4lb fur babys life that has massive seizures and also didn’t want to eat. It has controlled her seizures and gave her an appetite. It has many benefits and possibly could help your fur baby. Love & healing light to your fur baby❤️✨✨✨🐶

How long can you keep it in the fridge?
Like 3 days?

Zero sodium
Can i use low sodium bone broth?
What can I sub for the chicken gizzards? We can't get hold of them as easily in the UK and the postage is high.
Kidney
Use chicken breast as well. I bake mine, and then dice them.
What about chicken livers?

Is this 1/2 cup per 20-25lbs per day/total? I have a maltipoo and trying to figure out about how much he needs a day, he is about 10lbs?
@@Ai_ANGEL7 I offered boiled chicken, beef, liver and he still didn't wanted it. After others bloodtests we figure that the CHF led to a renal failure, it explains the loss of appetite, excess urine, apathy. He's on IV for two days now... the vet told me that if he didn't respond well to IV, we'll have to put him to sleep. Hemodialysis for dogs is too expensive here in Brazil and unfortunately I can't afford it. I can't stop thinking that's my fault for not taking him to do routine exams so often as it should be and now i'm about to lose my friend due to my negligence. 😥
@@ramonmello8080 it’s not your fault at all. Treatments for this disease are very expensive. We have spent thousands on test, surgery and monthly medication. It’s very hard for most people to pay these expenses. Even with all the money we’ve spent our dog doesn’t seem so well. I know i will lose her soon and I’ve had her since i was just a teenager… it’s been very difficult to be happy. She’s been my best friend for 14 years. I’m sure you’ve done all that you can for your sweet boy. Praying your boy makes it through
@@cutiepies8899 Unfortunately he didn't make it. The kidney problem was in its final stage and he weren't getting any better. My friend died two days ago and will be missed so much.. Thank you for the kind words and I hope your little friend get better!
Do you put the eggs in with the shell?
No she removed them after cooking.
I was wondering the same thing? Yikes!
I have been making this recipe for my dogs for a few months now, one has congestive heart failure.. But the recipe never says to cook the sweet potato I recently found out it might not be healthy to feed them raw sweet potatoes. Is that correct? Should I continue adding & feeding raw sweet potato in this recipe???
All that salt and cholesterol sounds real good for the heart.... NOT!
Hello! Is there an email I can possibly reach you at?
Are you using raw potato or need to be cooked?
Its sweet potatoes, and it looks like she does it raw. I cook mine, then mash them.
White rice? Try a brown rice and quinoa mix instead.
Vets recommend white not brown rice. Brown rice is harder to digest.
If you want fiber, chopped Brussel sprouts or broccoli is an awesome option bc if cancer fighting effects
Great recipe the only thing about the microwave is it still's nutrition from the food
No. It does not.
@@toiyablair1678 to each their own.
Actually it starts at 104. Sorry
👏👏👏
My dog seems healthier and happier since starting the DCM Care Pack from Planet Ayurveda!"
what is the fat percent of that hamburger ?
Peas cause Congestive Heart Failure.
Yea, get a bigger bowl
Haha...that's what I was thinking!!! I've learned over my many years that it's always better to pick a bigger bowl than you think you need.
nice in theory, but this would just cause massive diarrhea :-/
It's like a $25 bowl of dog food
Chump change for your best friend. Most of us that will lose our dogs to chf would probably have wished we fed our dogs this right from the beginning.
@@FalkunRazkull couldnt have said it any better.
I’d feed my furbaby yorkie a bowl of gold everyday if it would help his pulmonary hypertension. Money is not an option for my furry child. If this was for a human child no one would say a word about the price.
