- Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is highly regarded as one of the best Spider-Man movies. But in this video, I am going to give you my own opinions on the movie, aswell as compare it to the MCU Spider-Man movies starring Tom Holland. And we will see just where the two different versions of Spider-Man differ with regards to storytelling and character development.

Have you noticed that for the past three years, Miles Morales has been getting a lot more recognition in media.
He played a big part in the PS4 Spider Man and was a great addition.

Great video, Eric. For me, Into the Spider-Verse wins easily. Homecoming and Far From Home never got the idea of Spider-Man right in my opinion. They're about "living up to a mentor" and stepping up to the big leagues when Spider-Man is all about looking out for the little guy and taking responsibility when gifted with great powers.

@Erik Kemeey Homecoming was more about Tony Stark telling Peter to stay close to the ground which he does, but while being frustrated that he's not getting a call to fight alongside the big leagues. Traditionally, Peter wants to be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and doesn't just do it to seek the approval of a big-time superhero.
@Erik Kemeey MCU Peter being young in a world full of superheroes is not an excuse, comic Peter was the same way and even tried to join the Fantastic Four in his first issue but the difference was, he was doing it as a potential source of income to support Aunt May after the passing of Uncle Ben.
While MCU Peter simply does it because he hopes to join the big leagues one day and fight alongside them. That's the (pivotal difference) between them. Even when he declines the Avengers Initiative at the end of Homecoming, we see him officially/unofficially inducted into the Avengers in Infinity War just a year later, it just makes his decline of the Avengers membership seem like it was merely him realizing that he's not just ready yet rather than him having a genuine epiphany that Spider-Man is (mainly) supposed to be a Friendly Neighbourhood Hero who helps the little guy because he feels he has a responsibility help with his great powers and even beyond that, Spider-Man is usually cocky enough that he wouldn't want anything to do with them because of this realization not out hate or anything.
That was kind of the implied point but again, it's kind of negated for me by that scene in infinity War.
@Erik Kemeey Not only do I realize that he's 15, I already acknowledged it in my other reply. I don't believe that it being "realistic" is a good enough reason to have Peter act out character, obviously not every 15 year old is the same and Peter happens to be one that's motivated by immense guilt and sense of responsibility in large part thanks to what happened to his Uncle Ben that night.
All that interesting character layers are stripped in favor of another wide-eyed young hero like Ms. Marvel who's excited to be one of the heroes one day. I'm not saying that he shouldn't be shown as a fan of other superheroes but it shouldn't be his primary motivation for being Spider-Man neither imo.
Him making stupid mistakes in Far From Home and learning from it is fine and all but the problem that his entire arc is driven by obsessing over the pressure of him or someone else being the new Ironman when Peter's arc was never really tied to another hero in the comics. My problem with MCU Spider-Man is more of a criticism with the entire direction they shaped his arc than individual flaws with specific aspects (tho I have a lot of those too).
The frame rate for Miles in the beginning of the movie is actually half the frame rate of Peter B. Parker, which is meant to show how Peter is a lot more experienced with his powers, whereas Miles is new to this.

I saw this movie later this year, like December 2020, and to see everyone grieving for Spider Man, Miles Morale version, it reminded me of the greiving of Chadwick Boseman. I was close to tears when thinking about that parallel.

No. They are far, far, far different. Tobey has blue eyes, Peter B has brown eyes and Tobey has brighter hairs. In fact, Tobey is more accurate to the blond Peter. Both have blue eyes, both lived the train sequence, the emo dance, and even the car passing through the window, and both lived an happy life with Mary Jane. I think Peter B is actually more accurate from Andrew Garfield. Both have brown eyes, darker hair, a funny personality (because let’s be honest, Tobey’s character would NEVER speak to Miles like Peter B does, but Andrew’s character could very well), both have lost Gwen Stacy, both have a tragic life, and both have quite enough to be Spider Man. Peter B could very well be an older version of TASM Spider Man, who maried Mary Jane (because MJ was in TASM 2 deleted sequences and was about to be in TASM 3) and who lost aunt May.

Well I completely understand your gripe with the Rap in Spider-Verse, trust me I was super skeptical of the rap in Spider-Verse I also am not a huge fan of rap and didn’t like it a first but after a second watch I started to enjoy the rap music in Spider-Verse so maybe it’s personal preference thing but I think the rap problem resolves itself (at least for me) over time
The SpiderHam moment with his hands wet. I thought it has to do with sweaty hands, not anything inappropriate.
My rankings for all Spider-Man versions in this movie (except Miles):
1. Spider-Man Noir
2. Peter B. Parker
3. Gwen Stacy
4. Peter Porker
5. Peni Parker
Spider-Man Noir is also like a father figure to Peni Parker, because when she lost her robot, he was the first one to comfort her.
P.S. this is completely my opinion, and I'm totally fine if anyone disagrees with me.
The only thing with this is that Spider Noir was Peni’s father figure for like 10 seconds, Peter B was Miles’ for like 2 hours

Instead of asking is spider verse Better then the Tom Holland Duology, You should be asking if Spider Verse is better then the Sam Rami Trilogy? Most importantly Spider-Man 2 because before Spider-Verse people were saying that Spider-Man 2 was the best outta all the movies.
You're right but based on Eric's ratings, he much preferred the Spiderman 1 as the second missed a lot of points because of MJ
i'll say its at the same level of spiderman 2, i mean the first one is good but theres a lot of goofy moments that is really hard to take it serious (specially from green gobling, or MJ), and the third one well you know the tragedy.

1. Are you excited for the new Spider-Man PS5 game focusing on Miles ? What I don't get is why do many people keep saying that this game is similar to games like Uncharted Lost Legacy I don't get that

theres a reason why they have rap songs in here. unlike what other movies would do, this movie has a real reason why they did it. 1 miles lives in brooklin aka the place were rap music is popularized and were it was mostly created, 2 miles is also a teen which most teens like rap music, and 3 every spider person has there own seporet theme. normal spiderman has super hero type of music, spider gwen has rock type of music because she was appart of a rock banned, miles has rap music because he lives in an area were rap music is populer, spiderman noir has a dark and quiet type of theme because of the type of world he lives in, anime spider girl has a anime sort of tone to her theme because well you know why, and porky pig dressed as spiderman has a loony toon type of theme because he is a fucking loony toon. plus the rap songs were kinda good. ESPESHALY whats up danger. the lerics are kinda off but when it gets to the final part of the song, MAN IT HITS DIFFRENT. and it mixes well with spiderman training. plus that is actully mileses main theme

You know how you said in both Spider-Man versus videos you wanted Spider-Man in the MCU to deal with Uncle Ben's and Tony Stark's death well I am trying to deal with my Aunt's death since I travel to the airport to see her funeral last week.

The song choices didn't bother me but the dr octopus and grunts were fair point . This movie is 2nd best spiderman movie in my opinion. Spider-man 2 is slightly better even though tobey maguire,Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco's acting was awful in this movie along with the manipulative mary jane being the mcguffin, bad CGI, and character issues. Dr Octopus and The writing are the only things keeping this movie above.

You did mention about reviewing this and Creed II last year. Speaking of Creed II, what are your thoughts on that film and the Rocky-Franchise, would you do a VS Videos of the Rocky-Films.
I really liked Creed 2. I wouldn't out it in my Top 5 list but I had a really good time with it. And I enjoyed it FAR MORE than the first Creed.
I doubt I will make a versus video of the Rocky Franchise. But who knows, maybe one day in the future I will get to it.

Wait, far more as in, you didn't like the first one because personally I enjoyed the first one a little more than 2 but both are great to me and is on the same level as and slightly better than Rocky-Balboa (2006) & Rocky II (1979). Rocky III (1982) & IV (1985) are enjoyably decent but Rocky V (1990) & Grudge-Match (2013) ( a Non-rocky movie/boxing film starring Stallone. I added it because of that lol) sucked hard. the Original Rocky (1976) to me will always be the best. I personally think that the Creed-Duology (2015-18) is the best representation of a Spin-Off Legacy film of classic franchise than Disney's Star-Wars.

Did you see the new trailer for wonder woman 1984
Into the Spider verse and spider-man ps4 came out in 2018. Spider-Man far from home came out in 2019. Far from home copied a lot of stuff from into the spider verse and spider-man ps4. How, well in Spider-man ps4, Aunt MAy works in a shelter to help others and in Far from home, Aunt May seems to be doing the same thing. It's as if they had no idea what to do with her and decided to get material from a critically acclaimed Spider-Man medium. Also, Tom Holland Spider-man in homecoming and far from home seems to be trying so hard to try to be so much like Tony when Peter should learn to be a hero of himself and not like Tony. Miles Morales is the one who tries so much to be like Peter but had to learn to be a hero by his own way which is why in the trailer it says "Don't do it like me. Do it like you." MCU Spider-man is having a Miles Morales treatment and that is a red flag because it takes away Miles' character and personality. MCU Spidey shouldn't have that! MCU SPidey should have the experience and be Spidey original who masters his powers where another spider being should be getting lessons from him!
Also, Peter doesn't seem to have any Uncle Ben influence that causes him to be a hero to do what he does. And before you people start with the whole, we don't need another Uncle Ben death. shut up, okay JUST SHUT UP because that is not what I am requesting. I don't need another spider bite to get the powers, I don't need to see Uncle Ben get killed, we all know the story. I saw the movie and saw the VHS tapes of Spider-man back in the early 2000s. Why is it that when we want Uncle Ben influence, you people think that we want to see an uncle ben death? That is not hat we want, we've seen already! When we play Batman Arkham Asylum or any new Batman show, do we need to see the death of the parents? NO! At the beginning of Arkham Asylum the game, we are introduced with Batman already fully experienced and we know who he is and why he does what he does! WE get reminders of his parents but we don't need to go through the origin of it; we just get reminders of it. Spider-Man tas did that, The Batman 2004 did that, Spider-man 2008 did that, Spider-man TNAS did that., we don't need the origin.
In the SPider-man MCU, we just need a reminder of Uncle Ben why??!!! Because Uncle Ben was the catalyst that convinced Peter to do the right thing; to not sit around and do nothing while people are in need because standing doing nothing is what got his father figure killed in the first place. Why s MCU Peter doing what he does? What is his motivation? Can the movies tell us anymore details about him? What can it tell us about his fiends besides being used as nothing but devices to be used for the sake comedy, comedy that isn't even fucking funny! Tom Holland could be the far superior actor to play Spider-man if they had given him a better script, better development and a better plot. People still defend the mess that HOmecoming and far from home are just because he looks like a youthful PEter PArker and some girls defend those movies just because they want Tom Holland ass; those girls can't keep their hormones in their fucking pants and only defend those movies just because Tom Holland is good looking to them; they just want Holland web fluid and that is a poor way to defend a disaster of a movie that is Homecoming and Far from home.
fun fact, the stuttering is intentional. miles doing action is 12 frames and in pairs. while peter in action is 24 frames and really smooth. it shows he is more inexperienced than peter but at the end he is smoother animated
I think the MCU sucks. I've seen most of them, a couple more than once, but I never really got invested into any of those numerous characters. I've always preferred the DC characters like Batman and Superman and Shazam! for some reason.
Gonna be honest, NON of the stuff you nitpick here bother ANYONE I KNOW SAW THIS FILM, specially the rap music, because FIT PERFECTLY ON MILES MORALES, nitpick about that is like nitpick about AC DC in the Iron Man films. glad still got an 8 (despite this is CLEARLY a 10), I would flip that dislike button if I saw a 7 or less.

I believe Spiderverse had Miles stuttering because he was still training and when he mastered web slinging the animation stopped stuttering.

I give Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse 4.5 stars out of 5. I don't think it's the greatest Spider-Man movie [That Belongs To Spider-Man 2], but it is a magnificent film.
Agreed, Spider-Man 2 still reigns supreme but Into the Spider-Verse is a close second.

They should have made him look like the one in the Spider-Man ps4 game not a fat guy who covers up the whole screen! Still this is easily the best Spider-Man movie but I gotta say I love Tom Holland’s Spider-Man he’s cute, funny, and really not that annoying so you can fight me but Spider-Man homecoming and far from home are maybe my favorite Spider-Man movies but this movie beats them easily.

In my honest opinion, I think both Far From Home and Homecoming are the weakest Spider-man movies.

I disagree with you about the pop/rap music and the grunt/screams the characters make because I thought they were fine. I thought the rap/pop music helped out the scenes throughout the film in it's own unique way, at least in my opinion but I respect your opinion. Overall, AMAZING review, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is MILES better than Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. It's DEFINITELY one of the best Spider-Man films next to the first two Sam Raimi Spider-Man films and DEFINITELY one of the best films of 2018. I give Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse a 9/10.
