Oh my, this song for me embodies the most unique atmosphere and energy of 1970s music..... I mean this song is the epitome of the best of the sound of the 1970s.....(I'm in my late 50s, and this piece, like all great '70s music, is part of the best memories of childhood.......) Does that make sense? Thanks to all who helped create this song.....I love you!
Phil Garza Dad was born in 1948. He loved the 60’s and 70’s. But I did come home from school one day and he was listening ultravox. So he clearly like some of the 80’s too.
My father passed away last night and this song reminds me that he lived a great time period and had a he'll of a life. Rip daddio. Your grandson id your mini me so i know you are still with me
My generation (born in 55) had the best of it. Best music, just an amazing time to come of age. I lived a big, big life. Not done yet, and I don't regret a thing, even my low points were good lessons. But you can't live like we did forever, our bodies just aren't able to handle too many decades of abuse.
This recording is gift to humanity. I will get emotional hearing this song every single time. Thank you Manfred Mann, Do wah diddy and this have been in countless hours of my life, and it's awe-inspiring to know your music will probably last as long as the human race can survive.
This was our friend Marty Swyers favorite song…May his soul rest in peace for eternity!! It’s been almost 40 yrs but we will always love and miss you Marty!!!

I can die with those keyboards. I die with them. They are hipnotic. I love it that they put the name of the musician and the instrument, every band should do it.
A true classic song and music ensemble. The 70's music and singing geniuses will never be equaled . I don't have a time machine to take me back to that time period so I listen to the songs .
Music like this pretty much brought up my childhood. Pretty much any band predating the 90s I listened to with either my mother or my grandfather. This was when music was an art, not just a career.
Feeling blessed to be born and raised in the 60's onward...great music and a much less complicated lifestyle. Nowadays the kids are tracked by parents 24/7 with cell phones. I'd leave in the morning and be gone the whole day and mom would say be home before dark.. yes outside all day. I doubt the generation born in the 2000's can say it was a good time to be raised. I'm on my cell as much as any of the kids and wish to this day they were never invented. The internet has ruined many things.. mostly ADVENTURE.
They did this song so much justice that most people have no idea that it was a Bruce Springsteen song and this was their cover of it. One of the best covers of all time
I wish I could get a chance to go outside and see everything like it was back in the 70's banana seats bike's hotrod's cars and see my dad 1966 Chevrolet caprice 😢
R.I.P Rob! This will always remind me of you. The coolest brother, introducing me to one of the best bands, ever. Love and miss you so much, now and always! Your little sister. Xx

Same here. I remember a couple of months ago, my friends and I went up to Six Flags Great America, and on the way up there this song played on the radio. I couldn’t stop singing this all day. Whenever we went on a roller coaster, I started singing this. It’s one of those songs that can get your adrenaline pumping, and get you ready to have some fun
Yes! I'm looking for the extended version on RUclips myself. I was a little disappointed this wasn't it. (It seems the extended version was the one they usually played on the radio in my city.....)
Not at all DS. I'm 56 years old right now but when I was between the ages of 14 - 20 I could NEVER GET ENOUGH of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, or Artie Shaw (who were all at least 55 years older than me and had they're heyday back in the 1930s and 1940s).

Definitely not weird. Same age, and I love 70's music, it's really the only music I listen too, and I am sure there are many other people in the same boat.

Chris Thompson was brought up in New Zealand. Thompson's last band in New Zealand was Mandrake, formed with university friends who played the Friday and Saturday night dances in and around Hamilton City. He went to England in 1973 to pursue a musical career, eventually joining Manfred Mann's Earth Band in 1976.

70 years old - 2024 - still rocking...
Heck yeah. I'm 60 and still jammin out.
65 years old. One of my favorites. Brings back memories.
Dumb song, why do we like it? Also 60 plus.
Same here, used to hear this on the school bus riding home.
its not 65 years old
its 48 years old
@@Amanda.a03 I think they meant that THEY were 65 Years old. Not the song.

Yes I was 14 then and that song was great then to.
Simply mind blowing how much talent there was in the 60s, 70, and 80s.

Very true ;-)
Strong music education in public schools helped a lot.
You can add 40s 50s as well
Every month back then a new album came out and they are all big time classics today. 2024
Gifted writing by Bruce Springsteen. One of the best cover tracks ever done.

He wrote this ??
