NTA. If they were so quick to disown you over false accusations, they aren't worth your time.

Nta. Those who abandon you in your time of need are not family at all.

I just can’t understand how as parents you can choose to abandon your flesh and blood without being sure of what they have been accused of. And now that the truth is out here they are begging for forgiveness when they weren’t Even able to confirm the accusation before throwing their child out.

It's about public image some families do anything to show themselves Rightious and good people.
My family is the same i have suffered a lot of BS growing up .
Not to this extreme but in similar lines

NTA. They abandoned you without a thought for your feeling and believed someone without talking to you about it. They don't deserve your time and attention.

Seems like Reddit is on a kick of stories about I was falsely accused of SA. My family took her side and threw me out. Years later they learned the truth and want me back. Ugh. When there are so many stories at the same time with the same details you know you’re getting rage bait.

Maybe but sometimes when one person tells their story others are encouraged to share theirs. A bit like the metoo movement.

Gee, I'm seeing a lot of "family disowned me and is now begging for reconciliation" stories recently. Either there's a serious epidemic of terrible families, or a lot of these are fake/ragebait.

I think it's the second one. People see it's popular right now and they write stories about it.

Must admit that I think that most, if not all of the Internet stories are probably fiction.

They were out of OP's life longer than they were in it. That is not family. Family doesn't abandon you at the first sign of trouble. They would have gotten to the bottom of the SA allegations if they loved OP. Heck, they would have at least heard his side of things. They did nothing to show him that he mattered to them for 22 years. Also, I hope that the person who accused him gets their karma.

I’m glad there is no update to this story, because what usually happens is that, somehow, the people around OP end up convincing OP to forgive and reconnect, and to give the ay holes a chance.
And sadly - most of the time - OP ends up (stupidly) listening to them.
    Somethings are unforgivable.

NTA. OP is entitled to handle this situation as he pleases. 22 years is a lot of time for this "family" to at the very least reach out. I don't like any "but we're family" type of BS. That went out the window the moment OP was abandoned. I'm also all on board with OP changing his last name. Why carry around the last name of people who could so easily throw you away? The only person OP should forgive is himself for the dicisions he has made. That family just wants to ease their own guilt, 22 years to reach out, but didn't. The way i see it OP should have them apologize every day for 22 years before he can consider forgiving them

Where was this "But we're family" attitude when he was falsely accused?

    • @threadtales77
      @threadtales77  6 месяцев назад

No.... OP's wife and children go over to Aunt's place once a Week (assuming they live close by based on how fast OP come when Aunt Called him)
It's OP's Former Family i.e OP's Father Mother Elder Bro and 2 Sis that live 8 hrs away
