Im currently furring a head with minky and yes, its possible, but you have to be very precise. Im going to try thread sculpting the fur on instead of gluing to make the fur sit smoother, and id recommended that (i might come back here to update on how it goes if enough people care)
@@PixelFurr yeah! I was planning on it anyways. Though my current subscribers might get a bit confused because I somehow became a food content creator lol
woah thanks for answering my question! Didn't expect to see my question from nearly a year ago!! I've since made three fursuits! I use the bucket head method since its super sturdy! Thanks again :D
Omg! Thank you so much for answering my question :D motivation is definitely tricky, but even with low motivation, I was able to finish the fursuit head (eventually 💀) I’m actually midway through my second fursuit head right now. I’m sewing the lining for the inside 👌
I will say that I made my first head from August-December last year (not rushing) using a hard hat as a base with aluminum wire to frame things out before adding the foam on top, and intentionally didn't look at any tutorials during that period, until I got stuck on the eyes (which I added quite late). Despite the weight and bulky size, including antlers and latch-hooked on hair (using latch hook canvas for ease and speed), it's remarkably comfortable. I'd taken great care to make sure the weight was balanced, and the hard hat uses an internal harness to keep hat (and head) off of the human head. I've got 1.5-3+cm of airspace around my head and face, so I stay cool. I just wish I'd had more foam sculpting experience before I started, he ended up a bit... round, with some first fursuit energy. And I was too scared to do serious shaving on him. Ah well, for next time.
It took me 2 years to finish my first fursuit. Even then she’s just got a head and paws, and I still have to make a tail and feetpaws. However in those 2 years I did make a LOT of side projects and learned a ton
if anyone here looking for good aussie furs, i've heard great things about furaddiction and bartfeld! FA has some tinsel furs and bartfeld has a lot of shorter piles (beaver, ect) which is great because furs other than lux shag can be damn hard to find outside of american imports >_>'
Steam locomotive fursuit would be so interesting to see! I've been turning the concept of Wearable Train Outfit around in my brain for a long time and I can't figure out how you can both make it recognizeable Train and also comfortable to move around in, but I'd love to see someone who figures it out!
Thank you for your tutorials I've been studying and learning a lot about making a fursuit but I can't find any videos anywhere about hair or wigs for furrys , where to get them or how to make/ stile them. Any information would be great. Thank you ❤❤❤
Hey there! I’m Aussie, and I was wondering if you know any places to get a good Dino mask in Australia? I don’t think our targets have the same as American targets
Im not them, and im in America, but i think you can get dinomasks cheaper, on places like etsy. Im not sure about there but dino madks here are 50-60$ if yhey arent scam
Really helpful, thanks so much! It really answered some questions I haven't seen answered anywhere else, especially the question about embroidery. I only stumbled across you a few weeks ago and I'm about to start my first suit! I think I'm going to attempt embroidering on face spots/whisker spots as I know I'll be better at that than making tiny fur spots and patching it all together. Thanks so much!!
Thank you for your videos. I'm soaking up all the tutorials I can before I start making my first furr suit and I'm gathering my tools in the meantime. I'm going to dive in head first and make a kemono digitigrade 😮. Your my favorite teacher thank you 💕
Yayyyy finally, just wanted to say that you are the one who got me into the fandom and I really love all of your videos! So thank you!! Lots of love from a fellow Aussie!!! 🙏 ❤️ 😊👍
The one thing that is a guarantee with a 3d printed base is that it will be symmetrical (the part that was printed). Mine looks smooth cuz I made mine with a slightly small seam allowance and almost stretched it across the base. The seams are flush on the base too. If u do wanna use 3d printed bases is it very front heavy, it’s hard to glue it on a foam base and needs support.
Just wanted to say, as an Aussie furry who made my own suit, I got my fur from furaddiction/Emma'sbears. They have really nice, quality fur, although not a HUGE range, the fur they had was perfect for what I needed and with shipping (about $30 AUD) it cost me around $370 AUD for 4 metres, so compared to the upwards of $500 aud including shipping that it would've cost to get from America, I'd say it's pretty good. I did make my first suit from spotlight fur and it was fine, I used the short grey and cream fur and made a rabbit and it did the job, but I definately noticed the difference when I got some nice fur from furaddiction. So anyway, yeah, I would recommend
I’m working on my first two fursuit heads, I’ve made fursuit tails before, but I haven’t needed to shave any fur yet. I was wondering what the best way to shave fur is? luv u sky!!! ^•^
As for 3D printed headbases I use PetG it is much more heat tolerant. I would never use PLA as a headbase material. For the inside I use cloth covered and removable foam blocks and an elastic strap.
Is it frowned upon to make a fursuit with a premade base? I’m scared to make something I hate and is unusable so I want to use a premade base for my head
Hey Skye! I'm gonna be making my first foam fursuit soon, once the rest of my supplies arrive, and I plan on making it a moving jaw. Do you have any tips, and how do I make sure the furring doesn't impact the movibility by a lot?
Good luck to me finding any good fur in Belarus. Ig that will be way harder, but not as hard as ordering it fro US. Also im curious to know how called "baby butt smooth" fabric cuz i want to use it for tongue later :D

Hi Skye im a big fan and I have a question: where do u get your fursuit foam?
U can just get it at a local craft store :))
1:33 my fursuit took me over a year 😭
Now that is impressive
Skye! When will you do a PO box vid? I made the letter from Willa!
Hey rather then jumping strait into making the head is there anything else you recommend to practice making before( eg paws , tail , or stuffed toy )
Is it frowned upon to make a fursuit with a premade base? I’m scared to make something I hate and is unusable so I want to use a premade base for my head
I just realised you live in Australia too
The bass boosted sound when you showed the embroidered butt made me laugh out loud 😂
I wondering ,can I make from cartoon, furry head?
could you possible do a video on the flexible 3d print style heads? I cant seem to find much of anything on them-
