    I remember a Coach talking about Triangle Defense, where if you drew a triangle of where each player were, a big, wide triangle is usually ideal to have better field coverage. Another coach said that 2nd man covers "best case scenario" and 3rd man covers "worst case scenario". I think Eversax applied both with these "Leftovers" and made a Major winning squad. Good on them

    I don't mind the pausing. You are explaining what is happening. Anyone who doesn't like you pausing throughout the video doesn't watch their own replays and don't care to rank up. Game play is nice and all but this is awesome, love hearing your perspective on the highest level of the game. Very cool stuff very innovative and anyone can take notes from this. Very cool video. ❤️

  • @justkrazeGD

    If you search up goldenlight channel, hes whole thing is talking about this structure by dividing the field in half, 1 guy to the left, 1 guy to the right and last guy generally half field away behind the person the person that has the ball. Goes on about how situations should be handled, proper movement, proper spacing etc.
    Edit: To add something else; With this structure it really shows a flaw that g2 had and its mirroring matchup. 1st man is clearly vs a 1st man, but people tend to forget or get tunnel visioned, theres 2nd man vs 2nd man and/or 3rd man vs 3rd man and if you dont really cover your guy just like in any other sport, that guy will be a threat if the team sees that opening. Having this structure that you mentioned (1 guy left and right and 1 behind) makes it so 3rd man on the opposite team (g2) has to cover his matchup thats in the opposite side of the ball, because if every player was on the same side, then yea they dont really have to worry to much about a pass going across the field. This off the ball movement is CRUCIAL in team play.

    This was a fascinating watch, thanks for the breakdown squishy. I certainly makes a lot of sense as all the way through the major I could never pinpoint one player doing the most work on Gentlemates, despite Itachi and Seiko being renowned for their mechanics on previous teams, yet they took down the likes of KC and G2 who had been so dominant in the qualifiers.
    I will be looking out for this playstyle from GM8s and other teams in the upcoming quals for Major 2 as surely other coaches will have picked up on this.

  • @laatrommi
    @laatrommi 4 месяца назад

    their strategy makes a ton of sense it seems obvious that every team would try to play that way, but the gentlem8s are on another level of implementing it the same way zen is on another level mechanically. also shocking to see how often g2, who is also one of the best teams in the world just have such bad positioning and are all 3 grouped up in a corner.

    I feel like we learned this in 2016 but the proliferation of high skill, insane solo plays/double commit metas kinda took over as everyone got better and faster, maybe this major will be the catalyst for a huge meta shift, or maybe it will take a team winning worlds with this playstyle for everyone to take it seriously. Squishy i am here to tell you this "triangle" play style was coined by peak NRG!! (You, Garrett, Justin)
    I know this because Chicago did a break down vid "why is NRG so good" after they lost to you guys again 😂 he was watching the replay and noticed the triangle NRG did in all your plays and the coverage.
    Now if you consciously did this or not, doesn't matter. Peak NRG play always had or naturally had a triangle.
    After Chicago noticed this he ended stream pretty fast, think was his last "break down" vid. Then things kinda went somewhat down hillish for you guys at NRG.
    But heck do some break down vids of peak NRG and not so peak NRG and show what you discover 👍

    I play and position myself this way. It works REALLY well if you're in a team that also plays this way, the moment it doesn't there will be a lot of double commits and it'll be a case of YOU not seeing what your teammates are doing because you're over there playing a rotation and game the others ain't (at lower levels Dia-Champ). At higher GC1+ people usually have the awareness of where you are and that you'll be ready, or at the very least adapt after they've seen your play, positioning and what you go for 1-2 times.
    In lower ranks, unless with a team that knows what's up, you'll find A LOT of people will cut you off or panic because they're not used to people being there, or they think you're slow/out of boost for not going earlier. In reality you have full control and is just setting yourself up, or even slowing down the pace in order for teammates to get into a position so you can pass to them. Trying to play like this solo won't work as well due to people's expectations being different, rotations they have and what they deem as a dangerous situation from their perspective.
    However, this is the correct play, you just need all on board so they're aware of what they're actually covering, what they should go for and what to do next. Without the latter there will be a lot of situations where two people are in the wrong spot, team bumps and double commits. I've had games with below 100 points playing this way because the other two cuts in front and doesn't trust the rotation/game plan.

      I’m GC1 every season (past like 4 seasons) and just like you I end up with low points some games, because my teammates cut me off then push up behind first man then are basically on their bumper and when the ball is close to them it’s too high fr them or out of their reach cus they are too close and at that point they spam at me to go for the ball while I’m on the opposite side of the field expecting them to be up for that 🤦

    • @texsion
      @texsion 5 месяцев назад +3

      Also I tried telling my actual team this in my collegiate league and one my tm8s that I knew was the issue said no I think it’s better for 2nd man (guy who should be playing behind first man) should be middle and I was showing him examples of himself getting dusted or being middle and not even jumping because either the ball was flying over his head or he wasn’t going to beat the defense.
      He still stood by what he said after all the evidence I gave him and I knew from then on we weren’t gonna win the league and we didn’t (bounced in the first round)

In soccer, one of the most effective ways to dissect a defense is by utilizing 3 players in a triangle. Whether that’s with running overlaps, using through-balls, or simply passing amongst each other. Super cool to see them using this in rocket league.

    This spacing is exactly what I try to tell my teammates but instead (I’m GC btw) the guy who is supposed to be behind the 1st man (1st man=guy on ball) he instead pushes in the middle where he 1/10 times gets a shot opportunity and all the other times it’s cleared to the wall side where he should be at, or he’s middle but he’s so far in that is goes over his head and then now the 3rd man is all alone

    This is proof that having mechanics doesn’t make you the best if you can’t position yourself along with your team

    This is tiki taka, pioneered by Pep Guardiola at Barcelona FC, but applied to Rocket League concepts.

    all im hearing is that G2 would be best in the world if they focused on positioning a little bit more
