From the lyrical acrobat stunts in "Speedom" and "Rap God" to the wordplay is "Alfred's Theme" to the realism in "Nowhere Fast" to the absolute roasting in "Killshot", "Not Alike" and "The Ringer", nobody really compares to Em. "My competition can't see me, because I don't own a mirror!" - Eminem, Offended.
Although I believe like many others that Em did. Or “diss” NF, I can’t jump on board that the line in “The Ringer” wasn’t aimed at NF. Perhaps like many mentioned it was to assist with the rhyme scheme, but his line of “Especially an Effing recovery clone like me (NFing).” Below are my considerable observations. 1) One of NFS albums is titled “Therapy” which is related to Em’s “Recovery” in terms of rehabilitation. (Clone in spirit?) 2) NF comes from Michigan (clone again) 3) NF uses a precisely similar rap style as Eminem. (Clone again?) 4) NF, as pointed out in other comments, is known for not cursing. And Eminem deserves all the credit in the world for his rhyme schemes. I believe em’s line was intentional for more than just a convenient “rhyme scheme” (pay attention to how he shredded MGK.) There are other points of interest, but, I agree with an earlier comment that if this were truly a diss by Eminem, there would be MANY more bars and references toward NF (consider how direct Em is during diss tracks; you know EXACTLY who he is dissing. )In my opinion, Em was pointing out that he isn’t like everyone else in The industry and NF is an up and coming name (in my opinion NF is a genius like Eminem) so Em through that out there to strengthen his point, we see a new genre of rap that the younger generation is attaching theme selves too.
