@@AVintageJoy ho gosh Dean was so hot in the reboot. I am so glad he got over Rory and turned out to have a big happy family. And Jess was super hot in the reboot too. Basically the guys in this generation (includes Logen and his friends) reserved very nicely and even became hotter (apart from Zack who aged and gained weight), maybe it's the parenting thing (Dean is apparently special in that area).
i’ve watched gilmore girls 5 times over now, and i never even noticed that they switched the actor that plays Mia until you said so!!! my mind is blown hahaha
hahaha all good! We see her so infrequently, and they did really well in matching the actresses it could easily be missed!
Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Well - interesting thing about Mr Kim... Let me digress... Back when the show started there was some 'message boards' active... Don't remember when/where/etc... But I used to be on there. Then after the revival some mentioned something about Mr Kim... I showed that he was on S1E8 - after Rory calls Lor, we see him; albeit non-credited and everyone was surprised lol Albeit he seemed to age. Another thing about Mr Kim or 'Korean Fathers' - is that considering they had an antique shop - he should be there all the time... Unless - he's the one going out to get the antiques which again would be understandable. Albeit during many 'special occasions' he should be at home. Especially when Mrs Kim's mom arrives - he would be there to greet her. Anyway - as I started watching this - a thought occurred to me that almost all the characters and all the ones you mentioned and their actors made everything seem 'natural' and added that much more to TGG! Another ODD thing I've noticed is when Emily was talking with Richard and she said something about 'liking him' when they where young! Which seems to be undocumented. I haven't watched the series in a few years so I'll have to check again. I believe Emily and Richard were in his 'study' when they were reminiscing; maybe Lor or Rory was there. I remember seeing the trailer on tv. I was hooked from that first moment. Told my mom that we had to watch it. She was surprised at how fast they were talking. I would have to repeat things sometimes for her.
Ohhhh good points! I would love to know if you remember where that Emily quote was from! Maybe it is like a grandma thing where they call even their kids in their 40s young? Not sure. I also agree about the characters making Stars Hollow feel natural. I think that's a really nice way of saying that! They make Stars Hollow feel so homey and comforting to watch!

No we do not love Zack! Lane should have stayed single rather than date Zack, he’s like wet white bread. And the reason Lane didn’t tell about Henry was she said she was afraid if her mom liked him it would be a turn off for Lane and ruin it for her.
Wet white bread…I literally laughed out loud!! I don’t think he’s too bad, but he’s no Dave! Also yeah! I think you’re right! Ok that makes more sense to me now. I guess I don’t get how that would ruin it, but I’m sure it’s just a relationship difference from my mom and I to lane and her mom.
Maybe before they dated Zack wasn't that great but afterwards he was an amazing man and a wonderful caring husband

Probalbly already answered somewhere in the comments but I actually think part of Lane's motive on Henry was that she didn't want to like someone her mom would approve of. Like it's not Rock & Roll to like parent acceptable guys and she was a bit afraid that her mom would actually like Henry, thus making him not Rock & Roll.
She suspected it the whole time but couldn't bear to have it confirmed.
I totally agree with that! I think it was a subconscious thing to get for sure, but also yes. Henry was “too perfect” and she didn’t know what to do with someone who also her mom would like, like you said. Totally agree!

I totally agree that more background would have been fantastic for most of these characters. In the episode „the reigning Lorelai“ we learn a bit more about Trix. Also I really want to know how and when exactly Gipsy takes over as town mechanic, because in the first season (I don‘t remember the episode) Lorelai tells a guest who’s car was allegedly scratched by the valet that they can just take it to Muskies (?) to fix it. I hate that Sookie wasn’t really part of AYITL. At the some time I loved that they showed a very real aspect of adult friendships: you hardly ever see each other yet the friendship is still there like no time has passed. I also loved and hated that they brought Sookie back like they introduced her in season one: the ever chaotic yet genius chef
I totally forgot about that other mechanic shop!! Good memory!! Also yeah that is true about adult friendships! Also agreed about sookie, she was very season one sookie, but idk it felt somehow forced instead of naturally that again. Maybe that’s just me though.
@@AVintageJoy true, it felt rather forced, like a few things in the revival. I have a serious love hate relationship with AYITL. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I feel like they were trying to show that the characters were “out of practice” of being in Stars Hollow. In some ways it felt like the town was in a slumber until the show started following their lives again. At the same time I feel like it showcased that the Stars Hollow and Gilmore Girls we know and love have outgrown the lives we got to see 20ish years ago and now can and have to move on. That’s why scenes that were reminiscent of the original show felt strange and forced

Yeah the very first scene when the girls are talking and then are winded and say something like "it's been a while" idk it felt more like we were supposed to say "yay they're back after 9 years." and not "oh look at the Gilmore Girls just living their lives and we get another look into it." I totally get what you're saying! I agree! It did kinda feel on purpose at points. Also I know it's somewhat polarizing, but the musical part...I could have done without those 15 minutes!
What a fun video! What bothered me about the briefest of brief appearances of Mr. Kim was how old the actor looked compared to Lane and Mrs. Kim, he could have been Mrs. Kim's father! Speaking of Mrs. Kim (and totally unrelated to your video) one of my favorite aspects of her character was - it was all about the music. Her and Zack's interactions about music were so cute. My other favorite was, when Lane was getting married and Mrs. Kim's mother was coming from Korea and it was revealed Mrs. Kim had a whole secret life from what her own mother knew. I feel she evolved the most (besides Emily).
Also, very unrelated - the movie "The Good Guy" with Alexis Bledel and Scott Porter, maybe it's just me, but all I saw in the portrayal of Beth was an adult Rory!
Agreed about Mr. Kim, and also aw yeah! I love Mrs. Kim I love that she bonds with Zack over the song! And she's right too about her corrections and ideas! Ohhhh I haven't seen that I'll have to watch it!! I love the movie she did with Zachary Levi, I can't think of the title right now though, but that one was good too!
Hello, I love this video very much and I don't mean to be overly critical as I can clearly see that you had no ill intentions whatsoever. Still, if you didn't know the word "G*psy" is a slur and should not be used lightly considering its very loaded history (though I understand saying it for the character's name) it's still something to be aware of. Roma people are the most significant ethnic minority in Europe, where they also have a history of being persecuted. Romani were forced into slavery for 500 years, nearly 80 percent of the Romani population in Europe was murdered in the Holocaust, and they are still victims of hate crimes and experience discrimination in school, access to health care, and housing.
According to Ian Hancock, the word gypsy is an exonym-a word or phrase given to an ethnic group by outsiders. Hancock is a University of Texas Professor and was born to Romani parents. In an interview with NPR, he says that folks don’t realize that the word “gypped” - as in, “The car salesman gypped me into buying a lemon,” meaning to swindle, cheat, or rob - derives from gypsy and is problematic, too. Too many folks don’t know that a negative connotation is perpetually being associated with a group of people who don’t deserve to be seen as cheap, untrustworthy, or thieves. When people tell him that they didn’t know either word was offensive, he says, “That’s okay. You didn’t know but now you do. So stop using it. It may mean nothing to you, but when we hear it, it still hurts.”

I am Jewish and half my family were murdered in the holocausts as well, and honestly all those "offensive" words drag is exhausting! Yea it would be intended as an insult if you say Jewish or black or Niger *IF YOU ARE RECIST AND YOU WANT TO HURT* but if you are NOT then it is just a word to describe an ethnic background, all of those words that are suddenly offensive have an origin, whether it is a historical mistake (like Indians) or an accurate origin, it is just a word to describe an ethnical group, why does everything need to be offensive or un-politicly correct? Seriously people need to chill a bit or get a hobby.
