merci bien for posting, this is a heartwarming and magnificent version of the Maestro O'Carollan's "eleanor plunkett" and i am as grateful as grateful can be for Andre' Visser's superb playing.... greetings and best wishes to all the many fine people in Holland from your friends in the far East, Gloucester, Virginia, we still love all our Dutch brothers and sisters and the many others......
It’s not just the tune, but the video, the setting, all of it. A lonely looking man sitting next to empty chairs with aged knarled hands who have an old friend in that accordion. As the strains bounce and echo around the vast hall the sound is so lonely. The sound is so longing. Like a memory half remembered from a different time. And as the final strains pour out, and I’m near tears at the contemplation of it all, there is but a small moment of silence as the echoing strains finally fall away into nothingness … but then the crowd erupts in applause. Lonely? Hardly anymore. The crowd had been utterly enrapt the whole time through a master at his work. Stirring.
Merci
Very beautiful - would O'Carolan be smiling at one of his tunes being played three hundred years later by a Dutchman on a then undreamt-of French instrument? I hope so and I think so...!
Maybe you meant the button accordion was undreamed of in O' Carolan's time? I think it was invented in the mid 1800's in Vienna so its actually Austrian?
This beautifully played piece of music is called Eleanor Plunkett and was composed by the blind Irish harpist O’Carolan (1670-1738) See Caitriona Rowsome : The complete Carolan,Songs and Airs.
Andre Visser
Very intriguing ... in the key of G, two-row button box, but the bellows movement is almost like an accordion, in that there is very little in and out movement - anyone know what keys the rows are?
J'ai fais un tour, tu as raison, super.

I come back again and again to listen to this superb version of this beautiful tune. Thank you. Roland
Kippenvel.
As deep and moving as any blues. Beautifully done. Perhaps my favorite version of "Eleanor Plunkett"
I love this rendition so much...
And keep coming back.. it brings such comfort and peace to my heart...
Just beautiful.. ❤️
love how he gets the softness and louder at other parts; he's very skilled
beautiful, so beautifully played.

Very beautiful - would O'Carolan be smiling at one of his tunes being played three hundred years later by a Dutchman on a then undreamt-of French instrument? I hope so and I think so...!
The instrument is dutch as well, namely by Frans von der Aa.

Genial Gespielt vielen Dank.

My musical friend a great guitarist Pete Watters, does a powerful rendering of this lovely O,Carolan Planxty.🤐🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
