The mid range driver takes the 4.2's to an entirely different level of realism and depth. Stunning speakers.

The 4.2 really needs a big room and a big amp to come alive - I think the 4.1 is plenty good for most realistic applications.

The 4.1 is a bit of an odd duckling. The midrange driver is used in the 4.2 and above. I remember hearing the design philosophy being that the midrange driver solved a crossover challenge for the 4.2. The 4.1 does complete the series, but at the same time doesn’t really belong in there.

On the Jazz sequence, we can hear a "hum" during silent breaks coming from the EVO 4.2. Otherwise, I like the 4.2 better, as it has a more coherent staging in fulfilling the original soundtrack "intentions".

How do they perform at low volume?

4.1 not great, 4.2 sensitive to amp, need a £1000+ amp to do it justice.

I owned both of these, and if you're someone who is on the fence and have a 'small' room. Do not get the 4.2's! They are friggin HUGE! Will get bass boom in a small room.

      Is 4 x 5 meters small room?
Im really considering these speakers in a 5.(1) system. 4.2 fronts en 4.1 rears.
Would be nice to use them in a barn as well 5,5 x 9,5 meters.

IF you set it in a modal peak location, every speaker will boom. It has nothing to do with the speaker.

What do you think...are they both good as L/R channels in home theatre?

Es poco el cambio de un modelo al otro, pero me quedo con la 4.2
Se me hace que tiene un poco mas de claridad.

    4.2 прекрасные колонки. Звучат божественно!

Do you think that EVO4.2 could be paired with musical fidelity M1 ?

It all sounds awful on YT. You need to do a better job with the sound quality of your vids. Too bad, because I was curious.
