Thay missed the 5422 at $950 here. Altogether different sound to me. It's my favorite Gretsch of the ones I own. Black Top PUPS are in the Andertons Wheel House.
@@sgtmac62 They've got a G5420T Which, other than the second cutaway has exactly the same spec as a G5422. And lets be honest here, single cutaways look better on these fat Gretsch hollowbodies.
Pete and Rabea jams always improve my day, you two are so Inspiring together and your playing has SO much chemistry. Can't wait for the Rabea-Pete collab EP we all so desperately need ;)
I've been playing and buying countless guitars since the mid-1970s and I have a collection I'm very proud of at this point in my life. And I will say, the recent cheap Gretsch guitars are so far above their pay grade that it's just shocking. I have two Electromatics in my collection that I often choose over guitars costing nearly ten times as much. The playability and tones are just outstanding. And the looks are just a bonus. Great guitars for beginners and pros. Unmatched bang for the buck.
I’ve got one. Streamliner. Horrible neck dive and feels cheap. Playability is fine if seated. Pickups sound pretty good through my AC15 and my Hot rod deluxe. I keep it for seared jams with friends and because it looks cool hanging on wall. Tuning stability is also only so-so.
That's globalization for ya, made in China, Indonesia and Korea simply keeps labour costs way down. Cheaper guitars to buy, less work in guitar making in the west though, impossible to compete with this.
Such a relief to hear nice clean tones on this channel. As much as I love the other fellas as personalities I don’t need to hear how hair metal sounds on every guitar.
yall don't even know what you've done to me.... the inspiration.... i literally have tears falling down my cheeks. you're just trying to show the different sounds between the different guitars, but i'm seeing so much more. thank you
One of the best videos put out in a while! The thing I love about Pete is that he is such a supportive guitarist. He is the first to throw down a backing track and support the other person and will wait for his turn to play lead, I love it. Great jam, I need one of those guitars!
Thank you, guys, for doing much of this with clean tones! Makes it much easier to tell what the guitars sound like, unmasked by overdrives and fuzz, not to mention generally sweeter, and easier to enjoyably listen to! I have a 2017 G5435TG, much like your gold one, only in candy apple red with gold, and a Bigsby.
The current entry level Gretsches seem to be absolutely huge value - I recently go the Streamliner Jr G2655 as my daughters first electric. Played it when it arrived and damn near kept it for myself. It’s a brilliant little guitar that’ll be good enough for whatever she wants to do for years....
I really love Pete's playing, but Rabea Massad is simply a genius: he can play bluesy things with cleam/overdrive sound, classic and hard rock sounds, djent, prog metal riffs, weird chords, shredding solos.... and he can play all of this like like a monster. My RESPECT, Mr Masaad.
Gretsch is coming back up to the place this great brand deserves and it's now affordable for every wallet thus making possible for every guitarist grabbing that "Great Gretsch (guitar) Sound" and bring it home. Well done Gretsch, well done Pete and Rabea.
I swear, this is one of the best jams on RUclips! Not only because of their huge talent and great skills, but because of them themselves. You know, I'm watching this video almost every day, and while watching, I feel so comfortable and just enjoying these two very nice, kind guys with the good sense of humor. Of course the way they play the instruments is amazing, but that vibe that I'm talking about, that I'm feeling from this jam is important. Guys, you are nice people and you are very talented musicians! Keep on doing what you do. Please. I love every review you make)
I'd certainly prefer to see him demoing gear than Rob. But Rob sort of started it all, and he has a great rapport with Lee, which is what got these videos going really. It would be nice if Rob would change up the playing a little, and try to be more diverse. He's quite capable, but I think he's gotten a bit 'comfortable'. At least for showcasing gear....obviously the challenge videos and what not, it doesn't matter so much.
I just bought my first gretsch and I absolutely love it. It turns heads. I got the g54020t in fairlane blue. Awesome sound and extremely versatile. I can play great blues, jazz or rock.
Rabea and Pete were totally on the same wavelength on that day, amazing jams. More Pete and Rabea vids please!! Great work Andertons, thankyou for providing my daily entertainment.
I've started learning guitar at 50 years old. I've promised myself a G2420T when I advance enough to admit to anyone I can play. Loving the vids from you guys on the Gretsch line. Just seeing the sheer joy on your faces while jamming is enough to keep me motivated until I "deserve" my Gretsch.
By God those boys can play, some of the best jamming I've seen on the channel. Wonderful to listen to and hopefully the start of an "under a grand with Pete and Rabea" series.
I love Andertons vids, but this one might be my favorite. I think I've watched it like 5 or 6 times through. Please put Pete and Rabea together in more videos!
Inspirational playing, Rabea and Pete are magic together. Don’t cut the jams short, love the variety of styles displayed, really gives you a feel for the sounds capable from the guitars.
I got my G5420TG Limited Edition today after watching this, and it is beautiful, no other word describes itThe white and gold together look stunning and the sound is out of this worldThanks Pete for your great review
Loic Delcourte I nearly bought one of those but the proportions just don't look right to my eye. I ended up buying the 5422 in the same colour instead and it's simply awesome.
Pete and Rabea could play Les Paul’s prototype 1940 “The Log” and make it sound like the finest guitar ever made! They are both insanely good. What a joy hearing them together.
I came to this video looking for reviews on some Gretsch models I have been eyeing up. I follow Anderson's and watch virtually all new videos... but coming back to this, the jams here are just astounding. What a combo of players. Love it!
@@FloridaManRacer lol the problem is the Bea played it beautifully part. Even after all my years playing guitar, and just now getting back into it after a break, I'd pick up any of these guitars and wonder why it sounds like garbage in my hands. I swear, if they played a G chord and I played a G chord, somehow mine would sound stupid and theirs would make you close your eyes and dream beautiful thoughts. I don't know how they do it.
“And then the bridge...” seems like a good title for a track. The jam that starts around 15:24 looks like so much fun. Maybe do a breakdown of just what was being played? Sort of like how the Captain does on FB? Also, I just put money down on a G5420TG in Cadillac Green. This video helped put me over the decision edge.
Wow! You guys are awesome! I could have listened to the two of you for hours! Great review of these wonderful guitars! I gotta say, the Cadillac green model turns my crank for sure! Thanks so much for demoing. Cheers!
Bloody brilliant! Depressing to think how far I need to go to get half as good as you guys. Off to practice I go. And I've bought a G5222 from Andertons thanks to you 2. Cheers.
