Ive been looking for good impressions of Maryland accents and no good ones have really come up but hearing the "o" over and over cracked me up. It's something i do but don't hear. When i moved to New York, my friends would make fun of me saying i was saying "odor" and not "older" and stuff like that

you could likely get away with telling people your mom is austrian and they would believe you .

MisterTenacious D Those areas are still part of the state of Maryland. I understand your point but the accent varies depending on what part of the state you are from. There is the area you cited which sounds similar to this parody, parts of the Eastern Shore which sound borderline southern, and the areas closer to DC which sound more neutral or General American. There are probably others, but these are three distinct regional variations I have noticed.
Yeah, I get that's what they were going for, but it's not quite right. It sounds more like she's from Southern California than Dundalk.

I am originally from Michigan and have lived in Maryland for 12 years and there is an accent. You hear more of the accent in the Baltimore area. What she did is not fake and is absolutely true. If you do not think there is an accent then you do not know what you are talking about.
my uncle in law is from Maryland and he has an accent. He says, "hot dug" instead of hot dog

People just may not realize they have one. I live in Central PA and there is a weird accent here and everybody who speaks it insists that they don't have any accent at all.
Just ordered an egg custard snowball in Dundalk the other day, and the people behind the counter had the heaviest Baltimore accent I've ever heard. They sounded like...Irish pirates?

If you've never left Montgomery County or consider Frederick too far east, but hell even here in Fredneck you hear it about 5-7% of the time.

It's called O fronting, much of the East cost south of NYC does it, it's particularly strong in the mid Atlantic in the Philadelphia/Baltimore accent and the Pittsburgh accent. Most of Pennsylvania, South New Jersey Delaware, and Maryland do it. You are more likely to hear it around cities, especially in working class areas. It is strong in some rural areas too.

Not Western Maryland... very different. In the west we cut the "oh", we "haaang" our short 'a' and pronounce our 'r' sound like an 'Ur'.
