For everyone saying the runt didn’t get enough, at the end of the video it actually looks like he got some very big chunks of meat (14:47 for example!). Doesn’t seem to be any need to worry about the little guy. He got his fair share in the end. 😊✌️
I was getting worried about the smaller chick in the back. And then he pushed his way forward and still wasn’t getting fed. Finally chick on the left gave way and let him in. Perseverance pays off. So strong 💪 little one ☺️. So hard to feed so many but mom and dad are doing an awesome job! Look at those crops😱!! Full chickies 😁
Sad. Even when it makes it to the front it doesnt try very hard to eat. It's definitely a male, and if it doesn't start trying to get more food it doesn't look good for it in the long run. It might end up being food for the 2 females who are very aggressive eaters.
That is very unlikely. Sibicide/infanticide is extremely rare in Peregrine Falcons and the youngest chick is still growing and developing very well. At this point we have no reason to believe that all three chicks won’t fledge exactly on schedule.
@@maharaj2323 I see your point--really I do. Are you an ethical vegan? Humans have a moral obligation to other sentient beings to be vegan. These falcons cannot live eating vegan. Soooo cute! It’s so interesting that one eyas has such yellow feet so early in development! And good so we can tell them apart! Thank you for his adorable clip :)
glad the one in the middle finally got some food but then it turned back around and I was like, "whyyyy" eat eat eat, don't let the others bully you little one
Please correct me if I am wrong, but in most of the peregrine nests that I've watched, it seems that as long as there is enough food coming in, all babies get fed. Some days one eats more than the others, but it seems to even out. I don't think there is much sibling rivalry in a peregrine nest, if any. I adore these birds and hope they all live a long life flying high, eating enough and breeding successfully.
That is correct. Falcons are usually very good about providing food to all of their chicks equitably. There isn't that much sibling competition, especially compared with some other raptor species.
@@calfalcons I watched some other falcon/hawk stream, where the babies tries to fight each other all the time. How normal is other chick to kill the other one?
My heart ached for the wee one and its need of food too. Perhaps Mama is trying to teach it to be bold and stand up and fight for itself or it won't last in life. i was happier to see it did finally get something other than feathers for its meal.
Yep! That is evidence that their digestive tract is reaching maturity and capable of processing more complete meals. The stones effectively act as teeth in a birds digestive system and help break down larger pieces of food.
At this point, all three birds are developing and growing really well. Two days can make a huge difference for size, especially if the small one is a male and the older chicks are females.
Peregrine Falcons are very good about equitable food distribution. Starvation of chicks in nests is very uncommon in this species and the Bay Area is pretty productive hunting grounds for falcons. So far all the chicks are growing and developing really well, so we're not worried about anyone being malnourished or underfed.

Very difficult watching the youngest struggling to get a bite.
He survived and fledged.

And the irony of us all cheering on the chicks.... while the dead bird is merely "breakfast"...

They are such beautiful creatures 🥰
The little one is smart, he can't push the bigger chicks away so he hangs back until they are about full then moves in and gets fed. He's a survivor!
You never have to worry about any of the chicks going without food. Falcons feed all their babies. She usually feeds the larger ones first.
My the youngest trying really hard to get something.
I can't eat the innermost child… I saw it for the first time. Thank you for the delivery.
They sure have the right idea! 💕💕💕
They're so fricking cute with their little bloody lips!
Falcons don't have lips.
Nice story...I always like birds
This reminds me of my siblings and I at the dinner table as kids BEFORE dad got home! As soon as he hit the door, silence reigned supreme!

@@tunxxi Siblicide is very very rare in Peregrine Falcons, but can be more common in species like Bald Eagles. It really depends on the species.

最小的那隻幼鳥是最聰明的,雖然小卻是最懂的搶食,以免在食物缺乏時被淘汰。
One of the birds had nothing to eat compared to the other two.
好可愛,要健康的長大哦😘
Ok, the runt is giving me anxiety by it’s inability to compete for food.
ugghhh mmeeee 2
Is it possible that the little one is a male, not necessarily the youngest?
It's definitely 2 days younger, but looking at the size of the chicks right now, we've kind of been speculating there might be 2 females and 1 male.
Малыш клюнул бы в своих братьев или сестёр,чтобы не наглели
Awe too sad to watch wee one struggle. Did it get food at all??
They end up eating a lot of feathers, don't they? That doesn't seem very appealing
YESSSS! that chick in the back finally got its share of food.
Betapa sulitnya bagi si kecil tuk perjuangkan secuil ikan segar. This is a life everybody has to hard sttruggling okey..thanks..🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
They need to form a semi circle around momma so they get some.
Unfair distribution of food 😢
Waited 10 mins and all the middle one gets is a beak full of feathers 🪶☹️
Looks like sweet & sour pork/pigeon!!!!😆
This should prove that nature does not believe in equity of out come
I saw the middle one eating a few rocks today. Is that normal at such young age?

Do we know the eyasses' sexes by this point? It looks like 2 females and 1 male to me but it could be too early to tell.
Too early to tell at this point. Well know for sure on May 12th when they’re banded
There should be one more egg, right? Something happened?
is not hatching / unfertilized
