  • We're off on the road again with Bella the Boler, this time bound for the First Annual Swap Meet at the Sukanen Ship and Pioneer Village Museum. It wouldn't be a DanOCan road trip without some stops and [mis]adventures along the way.
Our first day on the road sees us pulling into the Brooks Aqueduct National and Provincial Historic Site, built between 1912-14 and stretching over 3km across the prairie. DroneOCan even gets in on the action with some flight time on a windy southern Alberta day.
As always, thanks for coming along for the ride!

Yeah, sometimes I get a little short when coming down from a stressful situation.

Nice video on the aqueduct and great info. I lived in Brooks for a short time when I first moved to Alberta. Great piece of history. Take care!

Fascinating. My dad would have liked to have seen that.

Mine would have too. I wish it had been less windy so I could have gotten better footage but I was working too much on just flying and not able to focus on being more cinematic. I was also still stressed from the propane tank incident so I wasn't the best.

A lock nut would have helped your propane tank holder. Keeps the nut from loosening itself from rattling by bumps in the road. Regular nuts will loosen themselves over time. Lock nuts or washers will stop from that happening, but I see you already fixed that issue.

Yes, for sure. Just glad the tank picked a good spot to let loose and fall off. Since the fix, we haven't had any further issues with the tanks.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to add another or a few more nuts to that propane bar. The drone footage was great, I didn’t realize it was so long.

I have since bought a whole new propane tank holder for the a-frame. I never did like the extra long threaded rod and lack of a wing nut. I should be able to tighten the tanks down better now without having to grab a wrench. It was really odd as the nut did not loosen at all for the rest of the trip.
