First things first Villages do not generate in Dark Oak Forests. Secondly why didn't you go and get some of the cherry wood it could be a nice building block for your build, maybe some of the external part of the build. Thirdly it is really annoying when you go exploring but lose track of where you are, while co-ords are helpful it still is a pain. Also have this F for emotional support sheep.
Ok I may have forgotten that villages don’t spawn in dark oak forests, I’ll freely admit. I’ll probably end up going back for the cherry wood if only to get the saplings because yeah they’d spruce up the exterior.
