    I have a small desk and chair in the living room I personally find it stunning to have a beautiful upholstered chair as the computer chair. My only issue is that as it is an accent chair I continue to have to stand up, grab it, and turn the chair around. This is not a big deal but there were times I thought of purchasing a swivel chair until I saw the price and that idea quickly faded. However, I think THIS may have solved my problem and I will definitely get to work on this because, "it's no big deal". Thank you for the quick and easy tutorial and saving me from an impulsive purchase that would have soon turned to remorse.

    Thank you so much, I can't afford a proper chair and table so I am converting a free coffee table into my study table. Since it is so low on the ground and I want a chair with good back support that also swivels (tight space where the table is) I have tried looking online for swivel floor chairs with adjustable reclines and the selection is very limited and expensive. This really helps (-: Thank you so much.

    I love this guy. I watched only one of his other videos and understood he knows his stuff. I am holding my breath to learn if a recliner can be converted to a swivel.....Inconclusive. He mentions that the swivel base might need to be shifted toward the front or back of the chair if it tilts. An extended recliner can be expected to shift its center of gravity and might tip over with a swivel base. The other concern is that the metal tubing sits directly on the floor. That might not hurt carpeting but could contribute to damage on a bare floor. I would want some sort of glider beneath the ring.

    • @swivelchairparts
      @swivelchairparts  2 года назад +2

      Thank you for writing. Most of the time the process increases the chair seat height unless you can add the swivel unit without increasing the height. Some recliners you can and some you can't. Balance will be trial and error.

    Thank you! Very useful! In trying to combine two office chairs, one with a good bottom and one is my wonderfully comfortable seat. I'm trying to see if the cylinder is the same for both so I can put the good cylinder into the base I want to use.
    Thank you Don for your helpful info.
    Can you imagine how many chairs can be kept out of landfills and get a new life, to me that is very good. That's the service you are offering, plus the self confidence of learning a new skill!
    Any way, if I get in trouble trying to complete my project tomorrow ill have to ask your help.
    Thanks, and God bless.

    I have a need to replace just the ring on my recliner/swivel/rocker/glider. The ring on my chair is 24 inches but I need to go down to 22 inches and I see you sell one. My question is, are the predrilled holes in this hardware standard in distance and position? Or in other words, do you think I'll be able to swap these out without any problem?

    • @swivelchairparts
      @swivelchairparts  9 месяцев назад

      Freedom,
      We only have the 24" size. If you should locate a 22" diameter, it will have the identical swivel plate holes distances.

    When you pressed down and rotated the Base that attaches to the ring on one side and the chair on the other, it stayed in a star shape. What would be the cause if we press down, stuggle to get it to the star shape (extremely struggle) & it will not stay in a star shape. It keeps going back to one square on top of another square. This was with a brand new chair and the identical swivel base parts you had were sent with the chair.

    • @swivelchairparts
      @swivelchairparts  7 лет назад

      Guessing about someone elses product to help you, I'd say that the other product has a spring in it to make return to a square. Don't forget, there are copy cat manufacturers.

    If I cut the legs off of my chair before installing, will the chair be too low when sitting in it after the swivel is installed?
    If I saw then legs off, will it weaken the frame? My legs seem to be one piece with the frame.

    • @swivelchairparts
      @swivelchairparts  5 лет назад

      If the legs are taller than 2" you would have to build it up to the original leg height. Sawing off the legs does not make it any weaker.

      The ring and swivel is especially designed for low leg chairs and I wouldn't suggest using more than a two board height. But there is an item on the website called "swivel only" that comes in heights up to 5 7/8" plus the board. www.swivel-chair-parts.com/254ASwivelLegSet.html

      swivelchairparts I noticed that last night on your website. It looks like just what I need. Of course it raised another question for me: I know you say the little wheels on the five prong swivel are kind to floors but they look like they'd dig in from the weight of the person on the chair. I have cork floors and they are kind of soft so I am nervous.

      We do have one model that is 1 inch taller, but if that is still too low you can always double up on the plywood.

    • @swivelchairparts
      @swivelchairparts  5 лет назад

      Terry, the ring and swivel and the board to attach totals 2 3/8" high. We do have a swivel ONLY with 5 legs for the height you need. www.mychairparts.com/254ASwivelLegSet.html

    • @swivelchairparts
      @swivelchairparts  4 года назад

      You can't! The metal is too thin. As you would tighten the nut you would be crushing the metal tube and it would not hold a caster.

      That is "outstanding"! I am so glad folks upload RUclips videos about themselves and their skills. Don't be surprised if someone knocks on your door and wants to know if you're willing to pass your skills to another generation. As a commander, it is VITAL that every bit of information is gathered..as well as sent out. You give the length and breadth but fail to mention the width. It is extremely important that one gives ALL the vital information that one would need to carry out the plans of others. I'll let that sink in.
