Kate and Ian nice video. The trepidation of going back to sea after many months is something we can certainly relate with. Interesting theory with the RM auto pilot , this is something we have been trying to figure out ourselves .Hopefully your continued passage becomes easier as you get back your sea legs. Thanks for the video.Nige and Donna.😊

Thanks guys…yes we had hoped for better weather as May was approaching fast but spring was pretty slow to get going in the Med this year! Autopilot, yes, I can’t say for sure but that’s something that came up in the forums and it made sense. Usually route following is fine but the rounding up was certainly cured in either wind pilot or hdg mode so it could be the culprit. There may be sensitivity settings that I’ve yet to find that could damp it out but who knows?! Anyway thank you for your comment I’m glad you enjoyed the episode 😊😊

Wow that’s a sail. Thanks again for the explanation of VMG. It helps when you explain it.

Seeking refuge was the seamanlike thing to do. The biggest cock-ups occur through fatigue - as I found out stupidly trying to cut a corner around Lands End the other day.... Thankfully, the boat just said 'bloody fool' and got me out of the trouble I'd got us into.

Cheers Iain, yes indeed no point pushing on for the sake of it when exhausted and not loving the passage. It was good to reset and then enjoy the next part of the journey. Glad the boat kept you safe around Lands End it’s not a forgiving place! But I totally agree that fatigue is a far bigger threat than many give it credit for! Safe sailing..cheers Iain 😊⛵️

Hi Norma, yes everyone who sailed that day was surprised and also said spring this year was very slow in the Med 😬💨🌊😊
