I've been trying my best to educate my wife and daughter on eating better. We used to eat out every day. Now that I've been trying to lose weight (Stevie's 12 week workout program is helping a lot) I've become even more motivated to eat healthy. I used to eat 20 piece chicken nuggets with large fries and still be hungry a few hours later. I learned later about empty calories as well as all the other bad stuff these fast food places put in their food. Nowadays I find myself not even wanting fast food. I'm often craving meat and vegetables and I'd much rather cook it myself than buy it from a fast food place. I find myself having so much more energy now, too. I still have a long way to go to get to my desired weight but I'm working on it. Stevie is doing a great job educating people. By the way, Stevie, this is Angel. Thank you again for your help and kindness.

A disturbing trend among youth with disposable income is the propensity to not only order fast food/restaurant food, but have it delivered with Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc. Those charges and fees, plus gratuity, make even that $6.99 look cheap.

That’s another level of impracticality when it comes to a food budget. Now fast food is too inconvenient to go out and get yourself. Crazy times.

I'm of the mindset that if you won't bother to get there by yourself to pick up your order or eat on site then i guess you actually weren't really in the mood for that pizza or burgers after all!
Has saved me hundreds if not thousands of euros with the added benefit of slimmer waistline!

I buy frozen veggies so I don't have to worry about them going bad. Always things on hand that I can make a quick dinner like canned chicken or frozen cooked shrimp which paired with cauliflower rice can make for an easy stir fry or the fajitas, etc. FYI I worked at McDonald's in college unless something changed the Egg McMuffins use real eggs. That being said the price is nuts. I can buy a dozen cage free free range eggs, six pack of English muffins and a package of Canadian bacon for the price of two of them and get 3x the amount.

If I'm being well behaved my day tends to start with 1 egg, 1 tomato and 1 piece of toast. Then I'll have homemade soup or maybe canned fish and salad for lunch and dinner.
Batch making the soup is good as I find cooking an enjoyable activity, it's economical and I know exactly what I'm putting into it 👍

Timely subject. I can't believe fast food went from a treat to sustenance. Aldi is a good shop , prices are creeping up. Shop seasonal , sales, closeouts, clearance and such yes this applies to healthy food although vegan ready made can be pricey on sale as well. Money is always better spent when you cook at home. Let's see what you and your wife chow on maybe a shopping haul geared towards health and finances. Great work brother!!

Unfortunately it's everything goes with our food budget from Costco, Aldi, to going out to dinner. You hit a nerve as I love McDonalds (obviously not the healthiest thing in the world), but I will say with their app/rewards, it's probably the cheapest way as far any chain concerned to feed a large family. Taking my large family to say Chipotle, I might as well go out to a full service restaurant. We go out to dinner at least once a week as a family as I find it's money well spent. I also don't really feel bad spending money supporting local restaurants and servers. Sorry for the long comment, but we're talking food so you got my attention. Which reminds me...I'm off to meet some church guys for some Gyros for lunch right now!

Local restaurants and independently owned ones need the support right now, I agree.
If you have one in your area, Culver’s is way better than McDonald’s and has coupons as well.

Was fast food was ever a better deal than purchasing groceries. Definitely a convenience though.
As a child, fast food was a "treat" meal. We would only eat it once a month or so... essentially a luxury.
Maybe a lot of chains will reduce the number of stores. That would not be a bad thing.

Looking at those McDonalds prices I suddenly don't feel like $12 for a Ribeye is too expensive. 😂
I haven't been to a McDonalds in about 5 years (Not for health reasons but because there isn't one near me) I remember back in about 2018 I would get a 20 piece nuggets for $5 and they came with sauce. Man I miss that!
These days I mostly eat eggs, I buy the 60 pack of large eggs at my local supermarket for $10. Bacon has gotten a bit expensive so I've cut back on it and started including more breakfast sausage which is usually around $3 for an 8 ounce pack. And no breakfast is completely without toast which a loaf of bread will also be about $3. For dinner I usually eat a big steak, some pork chops, chicken, etc. Roughly about a pound worth which can range from $2-6 a pound depending on the protein. Oh, and I can't forget butter or oil to cook the food in. I would say in total I spend about $10 for an entire day of meals.
