So, this is a part everyone seems to have missed: Chrysalis has a long history of commanding and working with others - and yet she made it very clear that she was out for herself, that this alliance was temporary. Cozy Glow was the former friendship student, who kept talking about how the villains could use friendship against the heroes, but was constantly trying to backstab her 'friends' and take more power for herself. Meanwhile Tirek, the guy from point one who always said Friendship was useless, friends were a distraction and at best were tools to be used...THIS is the guy who kept his word and was a team player from first to last. The one guy who kept the alliance going and never tried to turn on the others. Anyone else find that funny, or is it just me?
He was also the smartest out of the three, since he righfully thought it was unwise to both not go find Twilight as well as leaving the Wendigos to run free.
Tired has been around longer then the other two so makes sense he would be the more cautious of them, the one I think would relate to him would be Sombra I reckon.
@@blackdemonknight Sombra back in the season 3 premiere could be said to be as smart if not smarter then Tirek.... really Sombra in the season 3 premiere is honestly the smartest villain out of the series. He had the one thing he knew of that could of defeated him, locked away in what was his palace, while he never left anyone free to try and defeat him. Really if he hadn't somehow ended up outside the Crystal Empire when both returned, he would of won, since no one could of gotten the Crystal heart and he would of enslaved anyone foolish enough to try to stop him. However Sombra from the season 9 premiere was about as dumb as Chrysalis, since instead of putting Twilight and the girls under his fear spell to ensure they couldn't come back to defeat, he foolishly left them be and that's ultimately what came back to bite him.
I used to have a theory that Equestria was Earth in the distant future and that Pinkie was actually descended from Pinkie and the Brain's Pinkie, since Mouse Pinkie had a girlfriend who was a horse named Farfignuten
Yeah, but given that even Pinkie couldn't handle the power of chaos all that well, i think it's safe to say Discord is naturally more chaotic then her.
The fact that Pinkie Pie was revealed to be somepony who can actually harness Discord's Chaos Magic reminds me of how it's that it turns out Captain America was indeed worthy enough to wield Mjolnir in Avengers Endgame. And the Mane Six (plus Spike) at the Doughnut shop I think is more of a nod to the Season One finale.
Doc Wolf. Reminder "Being turned to stone doesn't keep me from hearing every word Celestia says. Although I admit it makes rolling my eyes a challenge. "
A lot of people think that that was specific to Discord, because he’s so op. It’s possible they have some sense of awareness, but it’s also possible that they are just stuck together, and that’s the punishment.
I personally feel that Cozy got exactly what she deserved. She tried to get rid of magic in Equestria. That is the equivelant of trying to get rid of all science on this planet. It will end in countless death, struggle and wars. She tried to take over the world. She was fully aware she was evil and doing evil shit, so she can't even use the 'I am just an ignorant child that made a mistake!'-excuse. She tried to kill the mane six. (don't tell me that blast at 6:10 was not meant to destroy and kill them. She blasted a crater in the ground with a spell that was meant for living beings.) She was perfectly ok with the windigoes being back, something that nearly caused ponies to go extinct in the past.
@@thechatteringclown oh I would totally be for that as well. But still a kids show, so they can't just blast them through the brain. also 'poor guys'. They brought it upon themself. Well deserved justice.
nah, being trapped in stone forever, unable to move isn't justice, it's just cruel and coldblooded torture. either reform them, make them work to repay their debt or kill them. that would be justice. but what they actually did to them isn't anything close to just, it's just cruelty.
@@thechatteringclown they are in suspended animation according to official word. I.e. they are not stuck in some kind of 'I have no mouth and I must scream' kind of horror state, they are basically in a perpetual, painless sleep, and one day, they could be freed, accidentally or otherwise, and given another chance if need be. Also, destroying all magic would literally be the end of the world. No day and Night, no weather, no seasons, etc. Cozy _really_ didn't think her plan through.
@Fristaker not according to discord. now, it might have just been because it was him, but he was very much aware what was going on around him. remember? when celestia asked fluttershy to reform discord? pinkie asked him how he knew celestia's plan and he mentioned how hard it is to role his eyes while in stone? again, it might have been just because it was a being as powerful as discord who was turned, but this very clearly shows they are aware of what's going on around them while petrified. also, meh. the alternate timelines kinda proof that equestria can go by without magic, although it would certainly be much more difficult to do so.
TheOriginalJphyper: well, it's the lore behind how Stone Sleep works. He may be a Spirit but perhaps the spell that turns the beings to stone makes it so they can still hear everything, regardless of how powerful they are.
I’m glad we got some insight into Tirek, that one line alone about his father, and that centaurs don’t originally use magic, that made for some interesting ideas. Also Fluttershy and RD talking about one era ending and another one starting was both really sad and funny because of how meta it is.
They actually expand on Tirek's backstory (and his father, King Vorak) in the comics; FIENDship is Magic, Issue 2. Heck, that's probably where they got the King Vorak reference from!
The post-apocalyptic dounuts seemed more like a nod to the Season 1 finale to me, where it ended with dounuts as well. I haven't read Fallout Equestria though, so maybe that fits better. Always glad to hear your thoughts! - I can't wait for your take on the last episode :)
You know what really undermines the finale in my opinion: The theme and end credits. They don't attempt to change it or remove the theme. It just makes it kinda of feel like a regular episode. I mean just look at the Gravity Falls finale. Know that's how you change it to make it feel like a finale.
It was confirmed by Discord in 'Keep Calm and Flutter On' that he was aware of what was happening while frozen: "Being turned to stone doesn't mean I can't hear everything Celestia say."
On a scale of 1 to 10, i give part 2 of the finale a 7, and i must say my favorite part of the episode, was when all of the allies the Mane 6 made throughout the serie came together to help them fight off the villain trio, i mean that scene proves once and for all that friendship and team work are the greatest force of all and always triumphs over evil...and i especially loved the part where Twilight and pinkie Pie made a reference to Pinky and the Brain.
Ali Mirzaei I hate to break it to you but the show pretty much rendered the IDW Comics not canon with how they brought King Sombra back in season 9 where they precede to ignore EVERYTHING the comics there did with his character. His backstory? Didn’t happen at all. His characterization? Completely different. The comics end to his arc where he’s redeemed and still living? Obviously didn’t happen since he’s still dead at the beginning of season 9, which would be AFTER “Siege of the Crystal Empire” if we’re paying attention to continuity and he’s unrepentantly evil still. So since they pretty much made everything we’ve seen in the comics and in Fiendship is Magic, including Tirek’s backstory, no longer in continuity anymore. Which sucks because that was the ONLY time they actually gave any of the villains there a backstory and Sombra’s origin was the best out of all, which sucks that they rendered it non-canon only to pretty much replace it with a less interesting take on King Sombra’s character.
@@ryancarson6962 well Tirek Backstory is kinda confirmed because Discord angered him by talking about his father, King Vorak, and guess what is the name of the father of Tirek? Vorak
Pinkie being able to use Discord's chaos magic is a reference to when She became the "Princess of Chaos" in the MLP Comics. Its a cool comic i recommend people check it out.
Pinkie-and-the-Brain ref, Starlight getting her due, a Sparity moment, the giant rainbow blast finish....Chaos Pinkie....oh this episode had so many good moments.
7:39 I actually have a theory about that. At some point in her early life, Pinkie Pie explored the Canterlot Gardens (perhaps she got bored on a family business trip) and came across Discord's statue. She looked at it for a long time, and even started talking to it. As she did, a tiny piece of it weathered off and fell into her mouth, granting her a marginal taste of chaotic energy without her knowledge. With that tiny speck of Discord's magic, she could hone a sixth sense, break the fourth wall, retain almost boundless energy, and know exactly how to make those around her happy. And for just a few seconds, she could handle the full amount of it.
Chaos Pinkie was AMAZING! The moment I saw her face when she slowly came up beside Twilight, I knew what was going on. Oh, just the thought of using Pinkie as an ace in the hole with the bell gives me tingles...
And so after 10 years of music, cupcakes, fashion, chaos (and of course Discord) one of the most fun series I have ever seen comes to an end ... this show saw me through one of the toughest times of my life and helped me smile again. I will miss it more than words can say 😢😭😢 But so long as the community stays together I can get over it: Lightning Bliss, Thespio, Scribbler, BarroBroadcaster, ... I have found and become a fan of so many amazing animators and writers especially you Doc. I’m sad to see the series end but I’ll be happy seeing what you and the TF2 crew get up to next. Thank you for sharing this last episode with us and I’ll see you ~next time~ Always a Fan Dr Wolf 💙🐱💙 P.S While I’m disappointed that Grogar wasn’t real I am also praying to the Fausticorn that *someone* does a fanfiction featuring Chaos Pinkie 😆😆😆
I love how, even depowered and defeated, Bug Waifu still went for the throat as she was being petrified ! Feels right for her character, remember SHE was the one to snap everyone out of the friendship spiral in Frienemies... Also, everyone (rightfully) freaked out at Tempest showing up, what about Flinn and Flann being on the good guys' side ?!! Do they count ?! ;7
Cozy tried to rid the world of magic and then teamed up with other villians to try and conqueror it. While being perfectly willing to pluck the wings off of ANOTHER child just to get to kill good people. She doesn't deserve ANY kind of sympathy for what she's done.
also worth mentioning: She was fully aware of what she did wrong and knew it was objectively evil, so there is no 'she was just a kid that made a mistake!' She was a kid that was as aware and as smart as any adult. She was perfectly aware of her actions and their consequences.
@@miniman649 People want to know about her parents, but honestly with how Psycho she's been it's best we don't ever see what became of them. As all potential answers won't be happy, ranging from having left her to being brutally murdered by her.
When Discord was brought to Ponyville for rehabilitation, he mentioned that he heard what everyone was saying while he was a statue. So I would make a guess that Tyrek, Crysalis, and Cozy Glow ARE aware of what is going on around them, but they are UNABLE to speak, even to each other. If they're going to be left like that for a thousand years (or a thousand moons, since they kind of stopped using 'years' somewhere in series 2 or 3), they will all be almost incoherently insane when they are released. Discord could handle the the long period of being trapped as a statue because, as an embodiment of chaos, he's not quite sane to start with, by definition. His mind was already broken just enough to prevent the imprisonment from breaking it further.
People are focusing way too much on Cozy Glow physically being a child when they talk about her punishments. Child or no, she's fully aware of what she's doing. Her first plan was a long gambit of her own design for which she made contact with Tirek in order to hash some things out. Throughout season 9, and here especially, there can be no doubt that she isn't being coerced or manipulated in any way. She's like this by choice. For all we know, she might not be a child. What if she's just a really short or underdeveloped mare who took to acting like a child to get what she wants because she looked the part? I mean, the fact that she instantly knew how to use Unicorn magic, while in the context of the show was just a time-saving contrivance, lore-wise speaks highly to the possibility that she's older than she looks. Perhaps a lot older. As another idea, maybe she's actually old or even ancient and found the fountain of youth at one time? It would fit right into her style of manipulation to have the appearance of a child because 'if I'm cute and lovable everypony will be my friend and they won't ask questions'.
She's definitely a sociopath, regardless of age. As far as long gambits go, just think of the pose she took when being encased in stone. Generations from now, after people in their world have forgotten what she did, someone will see that "innocent" expression of fear and try to free her. She had to have planned that, and in the spur of the moment no less.
Another thing to consider. Cutie Marks are a BIG deal in Equestria. Considering their societal importance it's not surprising, but a pony getting their Cutie Mark is considered an event worthy of celebration to a degree that feels a lot like a coming of age. Especially when you consider canonical evidence of ponies going to work professionally with their talent right after getting their marks (Chiffon Swirl/Mrs Cake comes to mind when talking about characters who aren't part of a long-running family business), it really seems to add up. So, physically a child or not, she's likely s legal adult because she has her mark.
I was surprised by the fact that the villains weren't brought down by their own infighting or backstabbing each other. They even display a great deal of loyalty to one another like Chrysalis warning Cozy Glow about getting to close to the shards. Advising each other and even taking that advice seriously. Dropping their arguments when a mutual threat needs to be dealt with. Covering each others weaknesses and failings during the fight with the Mane Six. Heck, Tirek could have taken all the magic for himself and the others wouldn't have been able to stop him, but he kept up his end of the agreement.
This two parter really reminds me of Endgame, I can't even begin to describe the similarities, but the part where every creature comes together to fight just really reminds me of the last battle with Thanos where everyone who was turned to dust came through the portals to help fight, and cap got to say the greatest line in marvel history! This was so heartwarming I cried and cried because of that. This was amazing thank you MLP!
in the secound time watching it I heard Discord saying to Tirek something about how Tirek play him self taugh even thou he know he will never be like his dad. I like that the MLP stuff open a chance for more analysts and fanfictions even thu the series ending. I like to read something like that:) and who knows, meaby even Hasbro will work something out with that line! allthu, I was suprise Dac didn't notice it... but I bet he'll post a throey once he re-watch the episode again;)
WOW! This was super amazingly epic! Best villain battle ever! So many things I can't describe all of them. I just loved everything. Especially seeing Fizzy(Tempst Shadow) and the other movie characters. Still, wish we could have gotten a little more backstory on Cozy Glow and why she's a villain though. Discord Pinkie blew my mind as did the Pinkie and the Brain reference. Overall, this was pretty darn good.
The doughnut part brought me back to the season 1 finale where they all went out for doughnuts after the gala. I thought it was a nice reference to that^^
Ending with post-apocalyptic donuts was a bit of a surprise for me, and kind of refreshing. It wasn't a big ceremony, it was a very Hobbit-like celebration. Just sitting down for a nice meal with friends, like something from one of Return of the King's endings. I've always compared the ponies to the Hobbits, and that scene really hit the mark.
You're laughing so much XD awesome! Loved this finale fight, maybe not as intense as the DBZ fight between Tirek and Twilight, but it was a lot of fun.
I liked the part where Discord referenced the fact that Tirek's motivations come from trying supersede his father. A reference to his FIENDship is Magic comic. I was hoping they would do something like that for each of the villains, especially Cozy Glow.
Pinkie Pie gaining Discord's magic was actually done in the comics in the MLP Friendship is Magic Apinkalypse Now Issue 57. In this version Pinkie Pie gains Discord's magic and then becomes the princess of Chaos and tries to turn the entire universe into one giant party.
The line I was waiting for from Discord was something about the mean 3 being ready for friendship after cooling off for a millennium or so, it did wonders for him after all.
Funny you mention Pinkie having “phenomenal cosmic power”, because Discord being the one to suggest turning the Mean 3 into stone kinda reminded me of Jafar’s defeat from Aladdin. _“Ten thousand years in the Cave of Wonders ought to chill him out!”_
Great review Doc. Your smile is infectious as well as a heartwarming reflection on this episode. Look forward to the review of the encore/epilogue. In the meantime, fave moments include: Ponies Assemble, Pinkie and the Brain reference, callback to season 1 Galloping Gala with the donut shop and more. Love this show and will miss it. However, it will live long in our hearts /)
"Pinkie could control it" how exactly was she controling the chaos magic? The second she gained the chaos magic she went mad. So i don't think that scene was at all saying she could handle it.
I like to think she could handle it better than the other villains but did not have full control and power over it so she was able to do certain things the others could not and had more control over what would happen like the cupcake scene.
@@geffyson2845 Well whether Pinkie controlled the magic better is debatable. As it is true, Pinkie did seem to able to control it to a higher degree, being able to conjure up the giant Cupcake, and chocolate rain, compared to Cozy Glow who couldn't control what the magic conjured up. However at the exact same time, Cozy Glow was more mentally able to retain control of herself and not be influenced by the chaos magic, unlike Pinkie who instantly went chaotically mad when she obtained the power. So all in all, Pinkie is better at directly controlling the magic and what it conjures, but she's not mentally strong enough to ride out it's chaotic influence.
@@gracekim1998 it didn't overwhelm Cozy Glow either. Neither her nor pinkie could control the chaos magic. Cozy couldn't control what it conjured up while Pinkie isn't mentally strong enough to resist the chaos magic's influence. So Pinkie may be better at conjuring up specific things, but if she can't handle the chaotic influence the magic carries with it, then it's wrong to say she could control or handle it.
The part about no creature being able to handle Discord's magic made me think for a long time, especially since Tirek said it. Wasn't he the one who drained Discord from his magic once and absorbed it? What was the difference? Why did it make him stronger back then, but now he couldn't handle it? The more I thought about it, the more sense it made to me that Tirek doesn't absorb MAGIC. Pegasi were still able to fly when Cozy drained all the magic from Equestria with her ritual, but when Tirek drained them, they fell from the sky. BUT the ritual made them unable to control the weather. The Royal Sisters were also still able to fly after the bell drained them. So, there must be a difference between the thing Tirek drains and Magic. The thing that makes the most sense to me is thet Tirek doesn't drain magic, but he drains ESSENCE. He drains the Essence of Pegasi: being able to fly. He drains the Essence of Unicorns: Being able to use magic. He drains the Essence of Earth-Ponies: Their strength. He drains Discords Essence: Being the Soul of Chaos. He strengthens his own Essence with all of that. But he doesn't drain their magic as is. If he would get the magic of, for example Discord, and NOT absorb it via his own abilities, it wouldn't strengthen his own essence, but add magic to him he didn't possess before. The only strange thing about this is, that he still grows like when he ABSORBED the Essence.
This episode was AMAZING! I enjoyed it sooo much. I can't tell what was mine favourite moment: there were deep emotional moments, funny moments and of course epic battle moments! The villains arguing (what a suprise!), Discord's plan, Twilight's courage returning, the final battle... Oh, my, the final battle! So epic to see the mane six fighting one last time with their enemies. But the assemble was amazing. It was great to have every single character we have seen, every single creature in Equestria uniting to save the world, to help the mane six... It not only shows how far the show has come but also shows that Twilight and her friends have finished their mision. And Twilight's speech... I am more than happy that it came as the final messege from the show. There will always be darkness in the world, but there will also be the ones who fight against it. Such an amazing lesson! Now the show has completly shown every single lesson in life. And about the villains's punishment... I honestly was almost sure that they'll be reformed (especialy Chrysalis). True that they got what they diserved but... to be turned into stone is perhaps the worst punishment. Well, want it or not, they'll have to be together forever. Touching and amazing ending of an era... or the beggining of a new era!
I loved this. Epic, awesome, funny. But... When Discord is suggesting the villains' punishment... he thought being locked in stone was too cruel when it was done to him. Luna is there, too, and she thought being exiled (to the MOOOOOOON) was awful, too. But this does mean they might get loose for G5. Of course, if Twilight ordered ponies to keep the statue company over the years...
an absolutley fanastic episode. i really didn't know how they were gonna win this battle and it kept me on my toes whichis always a good thing. favorite moment has to be pinkie with discords magic and m favorite line was the pinky and the brain refrence
When I saw the post-apocalyptic donuts scene, the first thing I thought of was the season 1 finale and how the Mane 6 had donuts together after the Gala. I assumed it was a reference to the season 1 finale.
I can't remember any specific examples without re-watching the whole series again, but Discord has hinted at being aware of time passing and the general goings on in Equestria while stuck as a statue in the royal garden.
Pinkie pie with the chaos power was so damn funny I never laughed so hard the whole nine seasons! I watched this show with my daughter and I started watching it by myself lmao I hope when she’s older and can really understand everything we can watch it again together and hopefully enjoy it 🥰
I love My Little Pony. I watched it since I was little with G1 and seen at least some part of every generation. This one was truly the best. It suffered greatly though from one thing: Not enough time to tell the stories. Every major storyline needed so much more breathing room then they gave it. Also, as I said in the other comment and something that was addressed in Big Jim's Q&A on Twitter, the teams between EQG, IDW, and DHX didn't seem to really coordinate with each other and each was doing their own thing with their girls. It is almost like 3 separate AUs running at the same time. I dearly wish they communicated and got on the same page more. Nightmare Rarity's storyline was amazing, especially showing Luna's ascension from a regular Alucorn back to the Night Princess. And Sombra's story (both of the Sombras) in IDW made me love him while DHX's Sombra was a joke at best. The fact that IDW showed that Celestia and Starswirl were using the mirrors to hop dimensions and was basically learning tech from other worlds to use in Equestria was so cool. And completely ignored by DHX... There is one particular RUclipsr I won't name, mainly because I am not a fan of her's, she has a valid point about the show that annoys her and it kinda annoys me too. They always leave things in such a way that you have to fill in the blanks yourself. Though my personal view is that I want them to fill in the blanks, I am okay with leaving the community and the fans to fill in the blanks. I can see the young people watching this and playing out the scenes with their toys to how they think it should go. Then the older fans such as myself getting into fanfics and fan art on how things should go... and honestly that's not a bad thing, I think. It lets the younger audiences have things more cheery while those of us like a little grimdark in our happy pony land, can add a few more sprinkles of tragedy to the thing. (Such as Twilight's life span compared to her friend's)
Was this the first MLP series to ever have a true ending? I’m still confused about how G1’s show, movies, and toy timelines match up, G1.5 had a season finale, G3 became G3.5, and G3.75 cancelled itself more than anything. And G1.5 was the only other series I have ever watched.
Pinkie is the Chaos Queen in one issue of the comics. She accidentally escapes into Discord's realm and because the ruler by chance, and her and Discord have a chaos magic "battle" although I use the term loosely. So for anyone who enjoyed Chaos Pinkie in the finale, you really should read the Chaos Pinkie comic, MLP:FIM Vol. 13 is where it begins, give it a gander. It's worth it XD
I really loved the Pinkie Pie moment when she wanted to cover the world with icing. That was hilarious as well as a giant cupcake falling on the villains. But I do love Queen Chrysalis and I love every scene that she was in.
I don't think they're aware. Discord was, but then again, he's Discord. His Chaos Magic was more than likely the reason he was still aware. Pretty sure if they ever do get released from their stone prison, they'll just be beyond confused because, to them, they're defeat was literally seconds ago.
Considering how fast-paced & epic part one was, the second part cranked it up to 11! =D There were some pretty epic moments, for me especially the Spike/Rarity VS Chrissy & all creatures showing up at the end there to help out. I even saw Little Strongheart running down that hill alongside Autumn Blaze to join the fight. Of course the triple rainbow laser at the end there was epic as well. =D A pretty dark moment I didn't expect was Chrissy threatening to rip Spike's wings off, she was insane. =( As for Chaos Pinky, it really was a lot of fun! Heck it was only fair that she interrupted Chrissy's rambling at the end there after all the villains (Cozy in particular) kept interrupting Twilight's speeches here. XD
I do like that the three villains were worried when they saw the windigos. That those things popping up were never part of their plan and Teric showed again that his cautious cunning I guess would be the word. Because as soon as he saw them he saw them as a major threat that they might want to consider top priority taking out.
This was a really great way to end the series! I do wish that Tempest and Neighsay had speaking roles though. It would’ve been great to hear Emily Blunt reprise her role as Tempest Shadow and for Maurice Lamarche reprise his role as Neighsay. That would’ve been really cool! It’s sad that G4 came to an end but I am looking forward to what’s to come in G5 and who the new Mane 6 will be in that series. I’ve been watching this show since the very beginning and it’s gotten me through some tough times as well. And all I have to say is thank you MLP for teaching us that friendship truly is magic. We’ll miss you 😢. Also that Pinky and the Brain reference was fricken golden 😂.
I agree 100% that as soon as the nation of equestria is threatened the Pegasi close up the sky and we see the start on the Grand Pegasus Enclave. Don't know if they did it on purpose but i definitely thought of Fallout: Equestria.
They had "Brain" in the show since the opening of the School of Friendship yet we finally get a Pinky and the Brain reference. About time! Though NOTHING will beat Chaos Pinkamena Diane Pie! That was the greatest thing the show has given us!
The "low point" is unwarranted because it is exactly the same as in the MLP movie. Twilight saying that everything they have done doesn't matter and so on...
11:13 You know, for a long time, I expected that Neighsay would be the one to say that to Pinkie. Or Pinkie say that to him. But Twilight saying it, was just GOLD XD
Pinkie having Discord's power is a reference to a comic. Granted, she was turned into an alicorn in that comic (Chaos Princess Pinkie Pie), it's a reference nonetheless.
You are one of the few that still hasn't noticed, discord is not just throwing rocks those are shards of the throne. The anti-MAGIC shards the ones that Chrysalis said that could actually block THEIR magic as well
I want Sombra in a future G5 future story. Something like he becomes a giant mass composed of the fear and doubts of everypony like the tantabus but more a deep black shadowy cloud with multiple claws like in this season premiere and giant green eyes
The only part that made me scratch my head was Tirek insisting no one could control Discord's power. He, himself absorbed that same magic and used it to fight Twilight. Granted, he never used it in the same fashion as Discord would've, but he still had enough control over it to fight with. My guess is the writers wanted him to emphasizes the point because, as I mentioned, he has the most experience with Discord's power among the Mean 3 and can attest to it's chaotic nature. This way, it saves the writers from making the Mean 3 nigh unstoppable. That's my take on it, at least. Great trio of episodes all the same!
The best battle scene ever! I loved how all the creatures banded together, fighting hate and prejudice...thanks to the younger generation inspiring the members of their cultures. I wonder if any fanfiction writers will try and create an alternate universe where the villains either get free from stone or are somehow reformed. Cozy Glow's parents must be worried about her. One drawback is Discord pretending to be Grogar to try and get Twilight to be confident. I feel it was wasted potential and it would've been interesting if Grogar was real.
If they had another season I'd agree with you, but they did'nt and so putting their time into villians we already know about was the smartest thing they could've done. All three of the villians had done serious personal damage to the main cast and thus when they started their plan I felt genuine tension and dread for what they could do. Something I don't think would be as effective if Grogar was the main threat since he's completely new and has no real personal history with anyone nor did they really have time to give him that. For as amazing as this show is Hasbro's strict slice of life format meant that they only had so many episodes to advance the story arc, as a writer myself you gotta know where to make the most of your time go especially when your not a fully serialized show and the execs demand self contained slice of life episodes too.
Believe it or not the final battle is just like the final battle in endgame movie, That really made my day. it was really hilarious that picky was using discord magic, I mean when I seen picky with the bell I just said “of corse”. I am a little iffy about what happens to the mean 3, but not all villains can be reformed. I also think the donut shop was a big reference to The season one finale and the first avengers movie. Whatever comes in at the end would probably be Worth adding to my top 10 endings of my favorite shows

TheKyrix82 and King Sombra was the lone wolf who believed he could deal with the mane six by himself and made a huge impact destroying the Elements

I used to have a theory that Equestria was Earth in the distant future and that Pinkie was actually descended from Pinkie and the Brain's Pinkie, since Mouse Pinkie had a girlfriend who was a horse named Farfignuten

The fact that Pinkie Pie was revealed to be somepony who can actually harness Discord's Chaos Magic reminds me of how it's that it turns out Captain America was indeed worthy enough to wield Mjolnir in Avengers Endgame. Thats what i was thinking
She blasted a crater in the ground with a spell that was meant for living beings.)
She was perfectly ok with the windigoes being back, something that nearly caused ponies to go extinct in the past.
nah, just kill the poor guys. what they did to them is a fate worse than death and something i wouldn't wish on my worst enemies.
Discord said once that turning into stone not stopping you from hear everything.
Yes, but he's Discord. Just because it works for him doesn't necessarily mean it works for everyone.
Heck, that's probably where they got the King Vorak reference from!
that pinkie and the brain reference...good thing i wasn't the only one who noticed that xD
I showed Rob Paulsen on Facebook it.
The post-apocalyptic dounuts seemed more like a nod to the Season 1 finale to me, where it ended with dounuts as well. I haven't read Fallout Equestria though, so maybe that fits better.
Always glad to hear your thoughts! - I can't wait for your take on the last episode :)
Why not both?
@@generalzeta7000 because Bethesda has ruined the franchise?
You know what really undermines the finale in my opinion: The theme and end credits. They don't attempt to change it or remove the theme. It just makes it kinda of feel like a regular episode. I mean just look at the Gravity Falls finale. Know that's how you change it to make it feel like a finale.
It was confirmed by Discord in 'Keep Calm and Flutter On' that he was aware of what was happening while frozen:
"Being turned to stone doesn't mean I can't hear everything Celestia say."
Chaos Pinkie was very unexpected but hilarious at the same time 🤣
I’m fixated on Tirek having daddy issues.
StormyD186 he’s a lord now, bitch!
StormyD186 Well in G1 Scorpan was a prince and in G4 him and Tirek are brothers now so I guess that was a reference to that little tidbit.
Ali Mirzaei all we know is cozy glow backstory is she has no parents.
@@ryancarson6962 well Tirek Backstory is kinda confirmed because Discord angered him by talking about his father, King Vorak, and guess what is the name of the father of Tirek? Vorak

I felt like the doughnut scene at the end was reminiscent of the ending of season 1 where they have doughnuts at the end of the gala.
I thought the ending would be Twilight's coronation.
@@dustinfreeman1451 I think the coronation was in the following episode, right?
Actually, I believe the official title is Chaos Goddess Pinkie Pie. Chaos Pinkie is Pinkie at room temperature, cold, or hot.
I will miss it more than words can say 😢😭😢

Depending on what you mean, those already existed years ago... but specifically basing it on this style? That might be an interesting take...
I think there's supposed to be another movie too? And something EQG... but I'm not sure.
Do they count ?! ;7
And Pinkie couldn't handle the magic. They even point that out. It's why Discord was quick to get it away from her.
Cozy tried to rid the world of magic and then teamed up with other villians to try and conqueror it. While being perfectly willing to pluck the wings off of ANOTHER child just to get to kill good people. She doesn't deserve ANY kind of sympathy for what she's done.
also worth mentioning:
She was fully aware of what she did wrong and knew it was objectively evil, so there is no 'she was just a kid that made a mistake!'
She was a kid that was as aware and as smart as any adult. She was perfectly aware of her actions and their consequences.

Pinkie finally achieved her full potential and they just took it away.
Smh
Pinkie:Waiter There's Some Chaos In My Soup
Devon Smith EXACTLY! That’s so annoying! Children are not exempt from punishment if they try to kill people!!!!
Devon Smith she’s a FUCKING child and children have the capacity to kill if not taught right from wrong properly. She’s not some god

Friendship Laser. Works every time. Never can go wrong with a good ol' Friendship Laser.
I wouldn't mind seeing a full episode of Chaos Pinkie Pie and her friends having to talk her down. There could be so many funny scenes.
The line I was waiting for from Discord was something about the mean 3 being ready for friendship after cooling off for a millennium or so, it did wonders for him after all.
He says 'would' so they probably aren't even conscious and its symbolism
Discord throwing rocks and a giant chaos pinkie?! 🤣🤣 LOL I can’t wait to see the episodes for myself later! 🤣

@@Draconicus702 I think she's just crazy.
Draconicus the Reaper she handled it by using it. It didn’t overwhelm her
@@gracekim1998 it didn't overwhelm Cozy Glow either.

Can’t wait for your review on The Last Problem
Yeah me too 😁 i wanted to see Dr. Wolf to see Lil' cheese 😍
I can't wait to see what he thinks of the ships that sorta got confirmed but not really

And thanks too you Doc for always reminding us two important things:
1. That Friendship Is Magic.
2.That It's Good To Be Helping.
She is a child but she is a major villain
Cozy Glow: I Am... Inevitable. *Clang* Huh?

There were some pretty epic moments, for me especially the Spike/Rarity VS Chrissy & all creatures showing up at the end there to help out. I even saw Little Strongheart running down that hill alongside Autumn Blaze to join the fight. Of course the triple rainbow laser at the end there was epic as well. =D
A pretty dark moment I didn't expect was Chrissy threatening to rip Spike's wings off, she was insane. =(
As for Chaos Pinky, it really was a lot of fun!
And even Tempest Shadow...sorry Fizzlepop Berrytwist... returns!
Pinkie spike and rarity really held their own in battle
Your feeble mortal minds cannot even begin to comprehend the awesomeness, that is chaos Pinkie!
I have a hard time believing they haven't been sitting on that Pinky and the Brain reference for years.
I saw Chaos Pinky was as a representation of “Power corpus and absolute power corrupts absolutely”
You are one of the few that still hasn't noticed, discord is not just throwing rocks those are shards of the throne. The anti-MAGIC shards the ones that Chrysalis said that could actually block THEIR magic as well
Discord is pretty smart.
May I ask which reviewers pointed out that ge rocks wete anti-magic?
@@satanbrony9235 non of them really, I think got to rewatch the reaction/reviews to remember
I'd like to think that the bell magic corrupted the three even further and that Cozy would've never gone that far if she wasn't affected by the magic.
I loved the final battle agsinst the three villains, and just like you Doc, damn enjoyed seeing Chaos Pinkie! That was the peek of the episode!
I've always been a sucker for the "the entire world shows up to aid the heroes" trope, so... this episode really worked for me.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I want Sombra in a future G5 future story.
Something like he becomes a giant mass composed of the fear and doubts of everypony like the tantabus but more a deep black shadowy cloud with multiple claws like in this season premiere and giant green eyes
Oz master of masks very interesting

What do you think of the last progression of my fanfic?
Oz master of masks it was great I liked “the call of war” wasn’t expecting to see u here
The only part that made me scratch my head was Tirek insisting no one could control Discord's power.
Or it was because he was stronger when he used Discord's magic.
