RUclips recommending me this after I just watched Abroad in Japan interviewing Ken Watanabe not just a great actor but an all round down to earth and decent guy ! ✌️
Truly one of the best movies of our time...Every actor truly brought it all to their respective roles.... The way Ken Watanabe delivers the line "I am honored to meet you" is delivered with such powerful conviction that you can feel that he meant every word of it to Algren, despite the fact that at this time, they were on opposite sides of the war
Tom Cruise maybe a bit nutty in real life but he is a damn good actor. This film, Rain Man, Collateral, Risky Business, Jerry Maguire.... the guy has put out some really impressive work over the years.
Aside from his acting, he chooses/makes movies that I like. Some actors are good, but they appear in many movies which aren't particularly appealing to me. Say, someone like Jeremy Irons, or Susan Sarandon. Cruise is one of a few people whom I like most of the movies in which they're involved, whether by acting, directing and/or producing. Off the top of my head, other people in that group are Tom Hanks, Leonardo Di Caprio and James Cameron. There are others.
I remember some hilarious scenes from this movie, including wall walking 2:28 and horse kicked the samurai army in the nuts 😂. And we can agree that Nathan Algren is the first wibu
What is this chant? I'd love to loop it if no one can give it's name to find. "They don't cut the heads off defeated kneeling men." Noooo but they'll massacre innocent peaceful men, women and children AND THEN cut things off as souvenirs.
Gotta teach the Gaijin some courtesy..... I hated seeing Katsumoto die. He had work, to help keep Japan between the white lines. Men like him would have stopped the rise of false bushido about seventy years later on. What drove the Japanese expansion was false bushido. Japan needed natural resources, which they got through hard work and ceaseless innovation.
In Japanese warrior culture, killing opponents in battles was acceptable and don't warrant revenge. Tom Cruise's character is surprised that a woman would tend to his wounds after he killed her warrior husband.

It's one of my fav scenes watch it over over again, but I cant help thinking that Ken bumped into that pillar towards the end of the scene.
Even slaughtered bunch of native Americans.
Had the privilege to visit that location, one of the few that was filmed in Japan. A dream come true.

@@ironcito1101 what aobut Joaquin Phoenix? Phillip Seymour Hoffman?
He's also an impressive physical actor. He pushes himself to the limits and trains hard for his roles.
When it comes to give you a real cinematic experience he is one of our heroes. I don't care about his private issues.
Magnolia
Brilliant casting of Ken Watanabe who been in Japans film industry long time, but was unknown. Until this movie put his talent on the map.
'If you would honor me' such a gracious request
Thank you so much for including the chanting!
