You never did?!?!?!?!? 1000 mini squares?!?!?!?!?!? I need to see this blanket, you must send me a picture or let me know where I can see it (Ravelry, Instagram)??....xx
Your voice is so soothing while you explain the pattern. Not nails on a chalkboard annoying like many other tutorial artists' voices are. LOL. I appreciate you for that alone!!!
I am an absolute beginner and was able to make my first ever Granny Square. It’s small but mighty!!! Thanks so much for the clear instruction. It is much appreciated 🙂
This is the best tutorial on granny squares. Here's the big reason, as I see it, you are hilariously fun and so so cool. clashorama, I'll be using that :) thank you for the big smile and the help remembering how to do this
Omg! Thank you!!!! I have tried and failed to learn the granny square so many times, you're the best! These are so cute, I feel like I can make a thousand of them now!
So cute! You are a very clear teacher and fun to listen to, as well. I feel confident you would be very successful doing voiceover work! Thanks again, from Pennsylvania, USA.
I love watching how different people hold their hands while crocheting. I crochet with the hook underhand as well. Your tension technique is unique! You yarn over like a knitter! Anyway...ignore me. I live in a constant state of hyper -caffeination, which often inhibits my ability to communicate like a normal human being. I love your squares! I'm using a cross stitch pattern to make a granny square blanket, and these will be perfect. Thank you for the upload!
I'm doing the same thing right now but knitting! I love using cross stitch patterns for everything BUT cross stitch lol. I'm working on a project that is likely far too ambitious and will end up in my pile of unfinished things. I'm knitting the periodic table of elements using a big cross stitch pattern. Gonna be ENORMOUS but awesome I hope!
I am just learning crochet and watched several different tutorials and just could not do a granny square it kept coming out round but after watching your tutorial you made it look so easy so tomorrow I will give it a go. x
Oh good luck Julie, hope it turns out okay for you. When I learned I just kept making them over and over again and one time it just clicked.....keep going xx
Thank you, it’s a pleasure to watch and listen to your calmness and clear instructions. I’ve been crocheting on and off for 15 years, and it’s been a while since I made mini granny squares, and got right back into it within the first few minutes of your video. All the best and God bless💐🌸
it turned out quite good I made a slight mistake but practice makes perfect. thanks for the great tutorial. I was going to add photo in but don't know how lol. once mastered will then try your swatches. x
Haha Julie, I don't know if you can attach a photo, if you want to show me, post it to facebook and mention Potter & Bloom, then I should be able to see it (although to be honest I hardly use facebook at all and have no idea how it works...haha!) Really pleased you kept at it xx
I’m trying to do mini mini 1:12 granny squares and I just can’t do it I think I need super strong magnifying glasses on. My husband will laugh. I will try doing it on wool to get the square. You have made it look so easy. All I get is a circle or a square that looks odd as my cotton must turn n I’m going back a different way. I’m not giving in, will watch more repeats of this on
Ever since my aint me to crochet about 12 years ago, i made beanies then nothin but blanket. I hear everyone keeps saying that it's the biggest project to do but I never felt like that, i wouldn't kno wat else to make to b honest
I just started on making these. Mine are in solid colors so far until I get more crochet thread. I have made 4 squares so far. How many done you think I need ton make for a king size blanket? I can’t find an answer on line. My squares are 2 1/2 inches each.
This is absoutely cute! I am a beginner ctochetter, andiwould loveto make myfirst project sonethingwith a granny square . How can i make this into a cute belt for myself please? Much thanks❤❤
I love this! I'm going to use it for kitchen curtains for my sister in law. But for some odd reason I'm having trouble doing it in a single color( I even read the comment you made telling how). Can you do a video using one color?
Hi Emma☺️I have Sirdar snuggly DK but I was wondering if I can use my 100% variegated wool for the first round of the square? and then continue with my Sirdar acrylic for the 2nd round? Thanks
@@potterandbloom Thank you for the reply☺️ No I was too worried to mix the 100% wool and acrylic together so I went with the acrylic for both rounds lol. I’m unsure if I can mix different yarns and which ones I can mix lol
thanks for ur jop really helpful and awesome but i guess in the second round you doin douple stitch because you yarn over one time but u keep sayin triple or iam wrong?
Hi Liz, all you do is after you join at the end of round 1, just ss into the next space and ch3, 2tr, 2ch, 3tr etc etc.....just as if you had changed colour....xx
How do you connect the granny squares though? I was looking at joining them as I go but adding a whole round of trebles will increase their size dramatically, how do you keep them tiny and sweet? (I' making a doll blanket and having as much fun as an eight year old)
+Abigaël Poll I sewed these granny squares together because I only wanted them to have two rounds. If you want to keep them small and sweet then this would be the best way to do it, I used a simple whip stitch. Alternatively you could try to join as you go on the second round - I've never tried this and am not sure how it would look but I might try it out and see....make sure you show me your dolly blanket :) xxx
Abigaël MacRitchie she’s not doing treble stitches, she’ s doing double stitches. She is saying the wrong stitch. Doing a double stitch on both rounds will result in a tiny square.
,@@itsannasimon3080 There's a difference between British and North American terminology. In the US or Canada we would call these double crochet. In the UK, they are called trebles
After 2 years, I doubt you still need the information, LOL. For any other viewers with the same question, you can join as you go by using slip stitches when you chain between shells. Jayda in Stitches has a very good video showing how to do this ruclips.net/video/r1krtsPQtR0/видео.html
Hi Dx, the rule for granny squares is that you always chain 2 (or some people chain 3) in the corner space and you always chain 1 (or some people don't chain at all) along the edges :)))))) I typed this and realised that it may still be a bit confusing.....I think I might do another granny square video :) xx
I know Hazel, I'm sorry, it's really blimmin hard to keep the crochet going at the same time as keeping it in shot.....ARGHHHHHHHH hope you got the idea though xx
UK terminology is different from US. What US calls a double, UK calls a triple/treble. You'll need to Google the correct meanings and equivalents if you are going to watch internationally or your projects will not turn out properly.
Got you beat with 1000 mini squares for a lapghan. All squares out of scrap variegated 4 ply worsted yarn. Love your tutorial.
You never did?!?!?!?!? 1000 mini squares?!?!?!?!?!? I need to see this blanket, you must send me a picture or let me know where I can see it (Ravelry, Instagram)??....xx
I am a beginner crochet in this makes so much sense. Thank you.
Your voice is so soothing while you explain the pattern. Not nails on a chalkboard annoying like many other tutorial artists' voices are. LOL. I appreciate you for that alone!!!
Mantén pulsado un clip para fijarlo. Los clips no fijados se eliminarán al cabo de una hora.

I have no idea how many times I’ve watched this! You keep me smiling every time though! Thanks so much! ❤

just started crochet 2 days ago, started this yesterday with no knowledge of treble/triple crochet or slipstitches and finished this today!!!

Yes of course Reanna, I'll do a video on one colour granny squares this week xx
I love the video by the way, nice and easy to follow!
Thank you lovely xx
Hiya do you allow people to sell items they make with this pattern please?
How many do you need. To a baby blanket
Merci.
🤍💖🤍
How do you join these minis. What method do you use?
I sewed these ones but you can also crochet them together or join as you go - I usually watch a video on this before I do it though x
Hi Emma☺️I have Sirdar snuggly DK but I was wondering if I can use my 100% variegated wool for the first round of the square? and then continue with my Sirdar acrylic for the 2nd round? Thanks
Yes I’m sure you’ve done it now (apologies for delay, have been away) and I bet it looks lovely Tracey ☺️
@@potterandbloom Thank you for the reply☺️ No I was too worried to mix the 100% wool and acrylic together so I went with the acrylic for both rounds lol. I’m unsure if I can mix different yarns and which ones I can mix lol
Thank you for this video. I needed a little refresher course. Your voice and personality are lovely! 🥰🥰
what was the size of the crochet needle and yarn ??
thanks for ur jop really helpful and awesome but i guess in the second round you doin douple stitch because you yarn over one time but u keep sayin triple or iam wrong?
You're not wrong Yasmeen, I use UK terminology so our treble is your double (if you are not in the UK....or Australia.....argh!!!) x
ahhh okay i thought iam wrong english isnt my native so i find it sometimes hard to understand everything :D and thanks alot pretty :D
can you show us how to join 2 of them together?
What size hook did you use please
I didn't do a picture, it went to an elderly gent in the nursing home. I'm considering doing another, I love the challenge.
Oh you superstar, I bet he loves his blanket xx
what is the dimensions of this granny square?
Very nice crochet thank you😇
You are more than welcome xxx
+Potter and Bloom thank you 😇👏
what size hook are you using?
She's using a 4mm😊
what size hook?
Planning on making a Taylor Swift eras tour surprise song blanket with these! Thank you so much!
what if you don't want to switch colors? if iwant a solid mini granny sq, what would be the next step instead of changing to a different yarn?
Hi Liz, all you do is after you join at the end of round 1, just ss into the next space and ch3, 2tr, 2ch, 3tr etc etc.....just as if you had changed colour....xx
Very nice thank you

No wonder I was confused she is doing double crochets!😅
Awesome
Iloveit
why only chain one when you go to the next corner instead of sticking to two chains?
Hi Dx, the rule for granny squares is that you always chain 2 (or some people chain 3) in the corner space and you always chain 1 (or some people don't chain at all) along the edges :)))))) I typed this and realised that it may still be a bit confusing.....I think I might do another granny square video :) xx

That was great!!! Thank you so much 😊
Hello,
Could you please tell me how many inches your finished square is?
(?x?) Thank you kindly, and have a wonderful day. 🌞
Hi Michelle, I think approximately 5cm x 5cm :DDDDD
thanks for sharing ..
Your voice is lovely :)
+Abigaël Poll Thank you SO much :)))) xxx
That's great... thanks for this nice tutorial!! :)
You're welcome!
In the US that would be a double crochet
Hook size?
just started on one, did not wonder how many i had to do ontill you said over 400 ? waue i better get going i have made 20 by now ...laugh
Why ones mine look horrible?
That's a double crochet not a treble not trying to be rude just making sure ppl don't get mixed up
You don't need to keep taking your left hand off your work with each stitch.
❤❤❤
Lol nvm, found it love! ooopsie!
Tee hee......xx
LIES YOU TELL ME LIESSSS 2:12
❤ u 👍
Tradur Español
Great tuition except at the end we see more of your wrists and obscured granny square crochet....
I know Hazel, I'm sorry, it's really blimmin hard to keep the crochet going at the same time as keeping it in shot.....ARGHHHHHHHH hope you got the idea though xx
Ur voic is kinda annoying, no offense but very nice clear instructions!! Love ya xx
That's not a treble stitch it's a double crochet. Treble stitches yarn over twice....
Thanks I thought I was nuts😆

What weight yarn do you use?
