  • Instead of permanently joining (fusing) vertebrae with metal rods and screws, and therefore restricting movement, the new procedure uses the Anatomic Facet Replacement System (AFRS) device that attaches to each of two adjacent vertebrae with a movable joint that mimics the spine's natural joint.
    Update: This procedure is no longer available. Please contact the UCLA Spine Center for alternative treatment options at www.spinecenter.ucla.edu or 310-319-3475

    I had a quadrupedal laminectomy, with removal of bone spurs, and it was life saving. The recovery sucked, and took longer then 10 days. But I can walk, move up and down. Thank goodness for the people who came before me who had the courage to go through the first few operations so we can be the beneficiaries. Legs had screaming pain, feet went numb.
    I would have been wheelchair bound otherwise.

      I hope you're doing well friend. Please follow up with regular chiropractic care. What this video is essentially saying is what chiropractors have believed for about a hundred years; normal joint motion is essential for overall health. Your body will compensate for any lack of motion by over-using other parts of your anatomy. chiropractors can help with this.
      Good luck!

    Thank you. The surgeons are opening my entire spine on the 20th of this month. I have no choice. I have a major curve in thoracic and my spine is unstable again. I also have degenerative disc and joint disease that developed because of these surgeries. It was the first surgeon who cause all of this by operating on a small herniated disc that should have been left alone for just physical therapy.

      I like you had a herniated disc that was treated with a fusion, shame on him for using me as a source of revenue. The spine was not created by God to be a fixed structure, it need mobility. There is also a new procedure that has been approved by the FDA called TOPS. I am currently looking for surgeons who perform this procedure in my state. It works similarly to this procedure.

    It really is very crazy times we live in...I was just watching a video on clinical trials involving stem cells borrowed directly from patients bone marrow and using injections that apply the bone marrow directly into region of disc and facet joint damage and it FREAKINS HEALLS IT MAN!!! I thought this stuff is baloney but its NOT! What the hell is going on? This basically would mean that we'd never have to worry about adjacent disc degeneration at all since the body would use it's own stem cell to "repair" itself.

    I have one bone spur in my last thoracic and two in my upper lumbar then and two sharp bone spurs pointing inword on the same bone in the middle of the lumber a total of 4 bone spurs on my spine one doctor wanted to put me in crutches and told me not to twist my back. Another said something about surgery on my back. A chiropractor wants me to do physical therapy on my back and legs to see if that will solve the issue. I been having back problems since a car accident a year ago.

    Would Spondylitis be a option for that? As in ankylosing spondylitis didn't want you to think I was confusing spondylosis or Spondylitities which I have both of those too. Severe facet disease now I haven't been diagnosed long enough and no one's explain to me is that part of the Spondylitis or is that mechanical I don't know and a lot more....but obviously I'm not going to put It all....study that means I could get in the study.??? Just a little brief thing I was misdiagnosed with mechanical back pain for 12 years after all my research brought me to the correct diagnosis which was a real world renowned rheumatologist for spondyloarthropathies. but I believe or I've Been Told I'm double whammy some of the crap that's wrong in my spine has nothing to do with the Spondylitis I don't want to go into all of that. In 2008 before I knew I had Spondylitis the neurosurgeons told me I needed a 2 level Fusion not only in my neck but my lumbar too and that my spine was too bad to do any other type of surgery except 2 level Fusion at both places I was on the fence for a year did a lot of research I decided against either one. And like I said they did not know I had Spondylitis and neither did I at that point probably had it since I was a 12 year old girl started with horrid tailbone pain that would come and go at 12 but I am in excruciating pain all the way down below my lumbar all the way to my neck and both shoulders 24/7 for the last 15 years straight so man if this could help me cuz I've been thinking about revisiting the the surgical Fusion I've tried just about everything I'm sick and tired of pain medicine that doesn't take it all away by any means it makes it more bearable is all I did a radio wave albation in the lumbar it did help for a little while with the intense throbbing but not with other issues just in that one spot epidurals do nothing for me at all !!!!I could go on and on and on so this really interest me please get back to me thank you in advance.

    The reason maybe you hear nothing more of this device the relative motion of metal and flesh together will not work (inflammatory). Maybe if it was made of some kind of rubber like substance that can stretch back and forth to stop the relational rubbing between the body tissue and the device (sort of like an artificial tendon covering it) so it will live in harmony inside the body.

    • @Cat911ramos
      @Cat911ramos 7 лет назад

      Could silicon be a good "rubber-like substance" or would it interact with flesh negatively, as some have claimed occurred with women's breast implants that were filled with silicon? (I think they now use saline-filled implants).

      Scot Fennell I think the moving part aspect is what keeps the pressure off the levels above and below the replacement, which is why this is way better than a fusion. They say you'll "blow every disc above and below a fusion site, eventually".

REPLACEMENT SURGERY . both almost the same but there a little different in the way the procedure is performed , do some more research on it, I am im not going to stop til I find one I really feel comfortable with , fuck the dumb shit I want them to find the root cause, and give me the correct diagnosis and fix what the exactly what my problem is , they cantt do that them im gone like the last 2 I walked out on, to hell with ,em cant look me in the eye, cant tell me the root cause, cant give me the correct diagnosis, then fuck,em im gone , don't let somebody say yeah we can do that, no problem roll over and get ready to be knocked out, in a few hours you,ll be like new ,lol my ass , that's the kind of shit you,ll encounter out here, go to a major hospital, let them send you to a neurosurgeon and see what he says , then make up your mind is he the one you want to use or not ?

      PRIMARY DR.,s SUCK PERIOD!!! there all taking orders from one location , I think its Annapolis, where they make our laws,and new ones, including don't give out opioids ,even if the person is in hell fire pain , send,em to the hospital and the circle starts all over again, I know ive been there, , I had passed 4 kidney stones not at the same time a year then a yr or 2 later another one an so, my point being I was given 6mg dilaudid every 4 hrs for pain, for kidney stones, but not a damn thing for my spinal stenosis, my L-4 and L-5 the nerve is being pinched between those 2 vertebrae id rather have the stones , the pain in my lower back an in the bottom of my left foot feels like im stepping into burning broken glass shards sliding deep into my foot, an it never stops ,NEVER im up for days sometimes crying from the pain, it hurts so damn bad, im slowly watching my life slip away before my very eyes as the strength it takes to hold off the pain, has drained me to the point to where im ready to meet our heavenly father , I know once im there itll be over with, an ill finally be in no more pain, but in paradise, Glory be to GOD , im 49 yrs old an feel like im a 100 I don't have the strength to fight this terrible pain much longer , I know I don't have no to go, then ill be at peace, I hope you all find the relief your looking for, I no longer have the strength to run around searching for DR,s its just not in me anymore, GODBLESS YOU ALL , William

      It was only two days ago since I applied this back pain, bit.ly/2zx8CW2 however it already made some major difference. A must to avoid lower back pain. It was as expected. This performs naturally and gives the essential relief despite the fact that I made use of it just recently..

    if u do this you have the pain and surgery procedure, then u loose time having to rest for weeks or months after surgery, then you have complications and need another surgery. I think taking painkiller is the best solution for everything.

    Can a previous fusion with rods, screws and a titanium cage be removed and replaced with this device?

    • @tiffsaver
      @tiffsaver 5 лет назад +1

      I'm not a doctor, but my physician told me that this device is designed primarily to PREVENT having to get a spinal fusion, not AFTER. However the Coflex can be used IN ADDITION to your spinal fusion to stabilize the rear portion of your spine. But always consult with your doc, first.

    I had a seemingly, and bizarre spontaneous fractured neck (turned out to be rapid onset stenosis) that would have killed me had it not been for a 10 hour 360 degree radical discectomy and fusion. Now, demon Pazuzu has fractured my lumbar region and walking is very painful. When god gives you the middle finger, that's how it feels.
