- Here's a tour of our new 900 sq ft house on 1.3 acres. Plenty of room for a garden and to park our "Cottage" RV in the driveway. It has 3 bedrooms and 1 bath. Not too big. Just enough space for us when my father moves in with us.

It's not actually a tiny house.
Elizabeth, I was brought up in a small house, roughly 530 sq ft, 2 BR, 1 walk thru bath and 1 walk thru closet and a combined kitchen / living room, with no A/C or central heat. All my school mates called it "Tiny" and I guess it was as compared to their 2,000 sf + houses. But my house had something theirs didn't have ... a huge back yard, so guess where they all came to play? Yep, I had to work hard cutting grass to replace all those windows that always seemed to attract the baseballs and footballs, but my mom and dad and my grandmother, next door were very understanding. I did learn how to re-glaze a window by age 6. I lost my mom from a malignant brain tumor in that house back in 1965 when I was 12 after riding out hurricane Betsy with her. And I lost my dad in 1995 after a stroke and heart failure. That little house has lots of memories for me and I completely gutted and rebuilt it by myself after hurricane Katrina took the roof off and ruined everything inside. I still own it and rent it out to a real nice lady who is doing a good job taking care of the old homestead.

I am so excited for you three + cat baby. You mentioned fruit trees. Since we have been at our home 11 years, we have planted 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 cherry, 1 fig, 2 plum, 2 apricot and 2 peach trees plus 3 blue berry bushes. We usually get harvests so big, we share with our neighbors. We are on a 100 ft lot and the trees go around our perimeter. This is one of our prepping achievements that we love. I look forward to seeing what you two will be growing. Hugs to all the family.

We removed the doors on all of our closets 10 years ago. Never put them back up. Our rooms are so small that they were an intrusion and we don't miss them.Plus, with my limited mobility it makes grabbing stuff really nice.

I was my Mother's caretaker and she lived with me her last three years. I was never closer to her and am so glad I had the time with her. I know you will create lots of happy memories and be glad of your own decision. I find you both to be extremely selfless and loving and it makes me smile when you refer to your future changes and an " opportunity"! I really do love your little cottage where you are now but I just believe you will truly enjoy living just a tad bigger. Having a kitchen table area where you can have people over is going to be so nice.
Being able to have Pops there will be a blessing for you all too.
It's such a nice home and you couldn't ask for a prettier piece of land. Love the country setting and that mountain view is just beautiful! Can't wait for the video after you get moved in and settled. I know you will make it so homey and cozy just like your current home.

I have moved several times and I am sure my belongings looked like ‘junk’ to a lot of people but I would be mortified if someone broadcasted that sentiment to social media. You, your son and grandkids should be commended for your resourcefulness and diligence. Very aspirational.
