The directness and bluntness shocked me the most. As a Norwegian man the culture shock was huge. Seven years later, I have trouble behaving appropriately while visiting my family in Norway! I'm glad I assimilated. Still some things are very funny to me. Part of the joy of experiencing a different culture!
