      @WarWxlf I'm not a bama fan at all. I have seen his out of control players and undisciplined team. He turned sabans office into a verizon store. The standard there is gone. You are in the era of the ME ME ME player. All about money now.

      I was talking about the interview, not his record. He was direct and had less coach speak than usual. But 20-8 overall, a CFP appearance, and 7-1 in the SEC last year isn't "destroying" anything. Relax.

      😊yes a good coach no doubt just not a championship coach, he's not built for bama or the SEC period but I'm a bama fan through and though but our championship Glory days are gone we are average now bowl game we will appear in instead of a natty

    • @CFBias
      @CFBias 12 days ago

      @PoloDro-z4l I hate bama fans like you, you’re just a band wagon fan. I’d like to bet you have no ties to the state nor the university. You also probably have only a very entry level understanding of football. This guy is a top 5 coach. And he will show you and when he does stay on that side, you don’t deserve to root with us

    • @TDBruiser
      @TDBruiser 12 days ago +6

      @PoloDro-z4lThe days of 2 or 3 teams dominating and in the natty every year are over. Even if Saban was still there they would probably have the same record. You could see the shift the last couple season he was there. You could be right about KB, I hope not. I feel he will get them a Natty, they just won’t be every other year.

    • @easye9-21
      @easye9-21 12 days ago +12

      @PoloDro-z4lThat's just straight bs. He went 7-1 in the SEC in the regular and beat both teams he lost to without any semblance of a running game. Some of you aren't realistic in anyway, shape or form. Kalen is an elite coach. Just look at the schools that wanted to hire him this winter and we had idiot fans that wanted him to leave with knowing that there wasn't any coach better on the market.

    I love this guy. You can tell he's driven and intense but simultaneously a kind and genuine person. It's why he's recruiting at an elite level, when many said he wouldn't be able to. He finally has the players to fit his system and it won't be long until he's bringing another Natty to T-Town.

    • @EB_3D
      @EB_3D 11 days ago +4

      I don't know that he was the absolute best possible hire after Saban but he was one of the better ones they could have found. No matter what there was going to be a dip after Saban, there was no preventing that.
      But last year they were close, the main thing holding them back was how bad the O-line was. It made things tough for the running game which made things really tough for Simpson. If they can figure out that 1 issue a lot of things will fall into place. The defense was very good, other than being weak to the run the first half of the season which they improved on greatly throughout the year.

    • @rdcowell
      @rdcowell 10 days ago

      @EB_3DI believe he's brought in the linemen that more for good style, lighter and more athletic for pulling.

    As UGA fan, all of the past perennials have to manage expectations. The days of repeat titles are over. When top tier players will choose Texas Tech or Illinois or whoever over Bama, UGA, Ohio St, Michigan, etc., it’s just not possible to have the depth to do it like we used to do. Teams like Miami, Indiana, Texas Tech, have an advantage as their schedule doesn’t lend to them losing multiple starters in tough conference games. That’s without even mentioning 7th year QB’s and the like. DeBoer is as good a coach as one could ask for.

    • @paulshears5202
      @paulshears5202 11 days ago +5

      I agree to an extent where titles won’t be won as often anymore by the same teams. However, all 3 of the last national championships won by the Big10 were due to having a leg up on the rest of the country in maturity, strength and conditioning due to age. Heck Indianas team was so old they even had a couple 8th year guys. Michigan was old and Harbaugh cheated, OSU was old, Indiana was old, this was largely due to covid players being granted extra unnecessary years of eligibility. There may be another old team or 2 this year and next that’ll win it but most of the covid players are just about fizzled out now. Once they’re all gone we’ll find out who the real coaches are. Harbaugh was praised before he was caught cheating, Ryan Day was praised, problem is neither of them could get it done before their players turned into old men. Same with Indiana Cignetti is being praised for “doing the impossible” by turning a dead program into a national title caliber team within 2 years when we all know that’s not the case at all. His recruiting and transfer additions have been hot garbage and now his team full of old heads are gone so he’s very unlikely to repeat success. Alabama and UGA brands recruit themselves and still out recruits Oregon who spends Nike money, OSU whose head coach is a cry baby always begging for more money, as well as Michigan. My point is long story short, UGA and Alabama may not be able to win chips as much as they did now, but who was winning chips before the old men teams? Kirby Smart. Who was competing for chips before the old men teams? Kalen Deboer. It’ll show in another year or so. It’ll all come back to coaching because the days of covid and 6th, 7th 8th years of eligibility are just about gone

      @laysmi 12 days ago

      @jameycockrell5481agreed, wish people would realize it’s gonna take a few years. Nobody is Saban. This year will be better I personally believe. It’ll be his players and his scheme totally in place.

    • @michaelmccord1317
      @michaelmccord1317 12 days ago +1

      @jameycockrell5481I'm willing to give him another year, I just gotta see toughness and grit. Mike Shula gets more criticism than is fair to him though. He took over a program nobody wanted for less money than some coordinators get. Sanctions tied his hands on recruiting and we were in the middle of a bowl ban. He had coaching flaws (at certain critical times had a deer in the headlights look), but he brought stability to a program that was in desperate need for it. For that, he'll always have my respect.

    • @paulshears5202
      @paulshears5202 11 days ago

      @michaelmccord1317If we’re being honest, the last 3 national championships were won with old men covid players that were granted unnecessary years of eligibility including 6th, 7th, and in Indianas case, 8th year players. Let’s just be real here. Michigan had an old man team when they won it, OSU had an old man team the year before when they won it, and Indiana had an old man team last year. So my question to you, now that the old men covid players are just about fizzled out making it impossible to build such an old team, is, who was winning national titles before the old men covid teams? Kirby Smart and UGA. Who was competing for national championships at that time? Kalen Deboer. So there you have it. We got a good coach at Alabama everything has just been kinda jacked up because of covid. Now that’s about over with we’ll find out who the real coaches are and I’m willing to bet Kalen Deboer is one of those few real coaches. Is he or will he be saban? No. But he’s beaten some who are considered the best. Multiple times actually. It’s not his fault Indiana had a leg up on the rest of the country in age

    • @nicholashardin3704
      @nicholashardin3704 7 days ago

      @michaelmccord1317 does that mean you would’ve rather kept Shula than hire Saban. Shula was just there until they got off probation. He would’ve never won a natty even when they were off probation

    I think a lot of times fans forget how hard it is to even make the playoffs let alone win a game there. To do this in only your 2nd year with the program in my opinion is great success. Bama fatigue makes people harder on CKD and the program but from a different perspective, it’s actually impressive.

    The truth is, this season is likely going to be harder than the last one. We’ve got a lot of new guys in there trying to patch wounds from the last. We’ve got the potential still to do something great this year, but it’s gonna be a hard fight. We might not be there just yet, and that’s okay. I trust this coach in the long term and have high hopes. ROLL TIDE! 🐘

    • @KroozDamascene
      @KroozDamascene 12 days ago +3

      @Tyoso1k We have a lot of question marks from the portal and young guys on offense where we don’t know exactly how they’re gonna contribute. Every one around the camp is saying Ryan Williams is by far the best player on the field. We don’t even know if that’s a good thing yet based on last season. Our o line is a HUGE question mark. Our RB room which produced nothing (granted mostly due to the line) last season is basically the same. We have a lot of questions still. What tf are YOU talking about? A lot of other teams around the SEC are absolutely stacked. We have the potential to be great but also are likely going to be facing a lot of uphill battles.

    • @zackpruitt4860
      @zackpruitt4860 11 days ago +1

      Much more manageable schedule, no OU, UGA at home, UT with another new QB, and AU/UK with a new coach. Bama has 4 very winnable games to ramp up to UGA. The majority of the defense is back minus some linemen, which are the easiest to plug and play into. And lets be honest, the O-line cant get much worse than it was. IF bama can run the ball in the top 50, with this defense and schedule, 10-2 should be very achievable.

      @KroozDamascene 11 days ago

      @zackpruitt4860 I agree it’s absolutely achievable. Im just saying I think it’ll be hard fought. The first half of our season tho is super manageable. If we can catch wind going into UGA and carry that on, we’ve definitely got a shot at doing something phenomenal. I’m just not making that my standard for this year.

    I really like coach as a person and I do think he’s a good coach. I’m really hoping this year he can prove that he is an Alabama head coach. There’s a certain demeanor that Alabama coaches and teams Have we haven’t seen that so far. I’m really hoping he can turn the corner this year And really become a true Alabama coach. As fans we need to see that killer instinct, and strive for perfection and dominance that we had with Nick Saban, Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings. I really like everything KD is doing except how our team has showed up in games. A lot of the times we seem flat we don’t seem very motivated. It’s like we don’t have that mindset that we’re gonna come out here and dominate the other team, maybe this is the year that all that changes and we can get back on track and be the Alabama we should be.

    Prompting AI to create an interview with a college coach gave me the same litany of buzzwords and cliques. Now I know why Alabama is a soulless, emotionless, and passionless husk of a football team. Alabama is a reflection of it’s coach.

  • @lexxon11

    35:05 - Great question, Pate! I really like Coach DeBoer because he coaches by empowering his players and staff, giving them trust and freedom. From an organizational perspective, he is outstanding.
    However, my concern is that he operates to avoid conflict instead of seeking it out. What happens is players and coaches will not "keep it real" with a coach because they don't want to disappoint him, as opposed to taking ownership of the conflict.
    In football, conflict reveals the character and resolve of the individual or the entity (the team).
    His response strikes me as not fully owning that whipping we took; instead, he seemed to buffer and soften it.
    That is a bad trait in a hard, drawn-out contact sport that taxes you mentally and physically every day. People pick up on that, and they will do the same within the organization.
    I would have liked him to say, "We got whipped, and I need to address those weaknesses head-on because, for me and this program, that is not acceptable."

    I still got faith in kalen I get tired of people hating . His resume is good and I think it was the best choice to replace saban and from wht im hearing our offensive line is the weakness for this comin season and I trust him to get them ready cause of his offensive mind

    Something interesting to note... Coach has only had a 2 yr starter and 2 first year starters at qb. Hard to win at an elite level with that unless it's a Cam Newton type player.

      @camjo, been a fan since 61, not a bandwagon fan. Taking the job after Saban takes big balls, BUT, losing to the teams we lost to is unacceptable Vandy, FSU, the team looking lost in multiple games, IDK, jury still out on Deboar, this is his team this year & I am not convinced. I hope I am wrong. Coaches should get 3yr contract to start, not a retirement contract when they lay an egg

      And “won” is doing a lot. More like OU fumbled the game, figuratively and literally.
      They shouldn’t have even been there (OU and Alabama). Playoff would have been better leaving them out.

    With all of the new faces and lack of experience returning (aside from the secondary), this year sets up to be a 4 loss regular season with this coaching staff. Football remains a line of scrimmage game. I’m not convinced this staff understands this or can develop players to perform consistently at a high level. DeBoer’s had talent the past two years. I’m going to watch with low expectations in 2026.

    Missed opportunity to ask why when early in the 3rd quarter of the Rose Bowl, it was evident, what we were doing was not working, why not just bring in the second string of players? It couldn't have gotten much worse and at least, you'd know Indy didn't have any tape on most of those players to study, much like when Saban put in mostly Freshmen (Tua, Davonta Smith, etc.) to spark a struggling team and actually win the game. Defensive starters were dogged tired from being on the field most of the time and offensive line just wasn't cutting the mustard. I, along w/ many other arm chair coaches really wanted to see something different and courageous tried cuz, as stated, it couldn't have gotten much worse.

    No team can win an NC with a bad O-line Coach! ik saw an o-lineman backing up and looking around to decide who they were supposed to block! That has to be fixed before you can compete with anyone on the Bama schedule! EVERY NC drive started on the o-line!
