- Ensemble of studio musicians put together by record producer Trevor Lawrence in Los Angeles, California for the purpose of recording an instrumental disco cover version of the theme tune to "I Love Lucy". The band's name came about because Lawrence lived on Wilton Place in L.A.
I never hears of this amazing song and so glad i found it July 31 2024!
From record producer to the NFL's #1 overall pick in just 45 years!
Not on iTunes or Amazon. No surpise. It’s a lost 70’s treasure, I wish SOMEBODY would add it to one of the stores. Sadly it seems to be one of those things that will never arrive. Let’s hope I”m wrong.
SO glad to have found it.
Song was released in January 1977.
This song totally sucks. What the hell we're those who wrote and recorded this song thinking? I had friends back in the 70's who were totally into the disco scene. They laughed at me and told me the music I listened to (Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Rush, etc.) was on its way out and nobody would remember it 50 years from now. They said Disco was the future. Well 50 years have gone by and the only place you can find disco is on RUclips where it has been relegated tonothing more than an embarassing obsolete relic.
But you're comparing apples to oranges. Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, etc. were serious musical artists and there's no doubt in my mind they'll stand the test of time. But disco can give a sort of retrospective nostalgia for days of yore, and it makes for a fun contrast to the best music of our era.
@@thomasthompson6378 Listening to Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones were like watching The Godfather and The Godfather Part II. Listening to Disco Lucy is like watching one of The Love Boat episodes with Charro and Red Buttons.
@@truthstillmatters59 But Jeff, it's satire -- fully intended to be just as awful as you think it is. That's -- in a strange way -- what makes it so perfect. It's so bad it's good.
They were awful rock songs like cat scratch fever from Ted Nugent and lots of song from Kiss. Don’t try to imply that every rock song was great. Also Disco never died it went underground and influenced lots of other music like House Music and Electronica among others. If you don’t like disco music is fine but there are lots of other people that do. Even today I have been to multiple parties where nobody dances till they start playing disco music
I was 16 years old in 1976 when this song was released.
I had so much fun with this song and when it came out I immediately played it in my club and the dance floor went crazy...so much fun and many laughs on the dance floor with this, of course I owned a Gay Club....1976
I remember going out and dancing to this. I loved disco....big hair, getting dressed up and fun!
"DANCE, DANCE, DISCO LUCY!"
There were indeed some very crappy pieces that came out during the disco era, during which I was a young man (e.g. "Disco Duck" and "Disco Toilet"). But there were also some very good offerings during those years (e.g. "Heaven Knows" and "Who Loves You"). I know that there's no accounting for taste, given the varied opinions ventured here, but I really liked and still like "Disco Lucy". It's happy and fun (which disco was meant to be), and is a love letter to a then-recently bygone era in popular culture.
It's so bad it's good.
@@thomasthompson6378 No. It's so bad that its WORSE!
I was listening to a re-broadcast of Casey Kasem's Top 40 from the week ending April 2, 1977, and this one was in the top 10. I caught the tail end, so I had to come back and listen to the whole thing. It's wonderful to those of us who love disco.
I would disagree that Disco Duck is crappy ... or maybe it is, but I don't care because I still love it! :)
@@truthstillmatters59 But if it makes you smile or, better yet, laugh out loud (it does both to me) then it's worthwhile, don't you think?
It’s just happy music I’m puzzled how nobody can like it. But each to their own 😂
Tis I, the first comment here from NexatG
Same was trying to find this song through a series of videos to finally find the source
I got here watching clips of a goofball chicken, I mean MAJESTIC PHEONIX
The first time I ever heard this was when it came out, in 1976, as I was riding home from work in Washington DC, and after it was over, one of my fellow attorneys actually said: "My god, it's like we're all in hell here." Everyone else in the car agreed with him, of course. But now, I think I rather like this piece.
That was a dumb assessment if I ever heard one. One that I don’t agree with. Any valid reason he/she choose to say that?
I'm sure they secretly liked it too and were just aching to bust loose.
Terrific version of the theme from an iconic television show.
I Retain this on Vinyl. The B side is Instrumental. So Much Fun
This Is The Coolest Song and Video I Have Ever Saw . I Give It Two Thumbs Up and I Mean way Up To. and Thank You For This to.

This is a well produced disco tribute to the I Love Lucy Show.
I wonder, though, if it's indeed a tribute? It seems quite possibly a satire, yes?
very uplifting_
Excelentes recuerdos gracias saludos afectuosos desde México
Love this..We actually danced to this in the UK gay clubs...Such happy times!

Essa música é excelente, muito sucesso no Brasil anos 70s.🇧🇷🇧🇷🆗💒🎅👏
one of the worst disco songs ever!
maravilha!
Meh...nice beat and lots of fun, but they copped out and used easy chords instead the real, original chords with their dissonant harmonics, complicated structure, and the sophisticated sound which gave the piece its old Hollywood charm. 4 out of 5 anyway because they brought a familiar old tune back to life and did a fantastic job playing it.
It still nicely captures the spirit of the original.
Yes, a very very happy song with a good sound
I always wondered if Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz or Vivian Vance ever heard this and what they thought about it.
Lucina 🐰 💃
❤❤❤
❤😂🎉 años sin escucharla 😢😅
Show dance 🐯☀️⚡🔝🇧🇷
Casey Kasem brought me here
April 1976 - I was caught kissing another boy who was my best friend in the back of the auditorium when this song was played with the kids dancing on stage 😮. I was in the 4th grade.
Barbiepoledancer brought me here
SCTV brought me here
Brings back great memories from the discos I visited in the 70's. Also liked the version by the New York Rubber Rock Band.
no wonder disco got a bad rap when stuff like this came out when in fact there was a LOT of damn good stuff coming out
I know right, a cover, what a horrible crime against music. The backlash against disco was born out of homophobia and racism, it had nothing to do with a producer deciding to make a cover of an old TV theme song.
@@bored_person ) i agree but the genre did also become oversaturated in 1979 ( with stuff like this ).
Doesn't justify the "discophobia" and what happened at Chomiskey Park though.
@@steamboatwill3.367 As a zoomer, I am unfamiliar with the incident you're referring to, and I did not live through the oversaturation of disco. I can only judge pieces like this in a modern context, and I think that's perfectly valid. I guess you could say I'm anemoia blind.
@@bored_person ) yeah, I didn't know about it either for a long time, i agree with you otherwise ( from the same gen ).
It was one of the worst ideas ever, basically a book burning of good music... No wonder the rock/metal community is such a mess...
But I suggest looks up, it's so assinine...
@@steamboatwill3.367 I insist that American discourse started to go to the toilet that night. I will to my dying day. All the derisive chants and shirts and signs that you see today can be traced to that night at Comiskey Park.
