There are plants including the sequoias that require fire to germinate. Fires are nothing new here. C) federal funds manage federal lands and that's what most of the forests are. D) Republicans have gutted the USFS budget to manage the lands. They set controlled burns every spring as they can with that budget. If you don't put money into that every year, USFS can't manage the forests. E) if you want more funds for things, vote people in who will tax the rich and big business at the same rate as the middle class. That includes wealth and inheritance taxes. There are plants including the sequoias that require fire to germinate. Fires are nothing new here. C) federal funds manage federal lands and that's what most of the forests are. D) Republicans have gutted the USFS budget to manage the lands. They set controlled burns every spring as they can with that budget. If you don't put money into that every year, USFS can't manage the forests. E) if you want more funds for things, vote people in who will tax the rich and big business at the same rate as the middle class. That includes wealth and inheritance taxes. There's no reason for people to be making hundreds of times the salary of their staff.

So right on the spot, these idiots are too dumb to even try to figure out how much money is made daily on just the gas tax, do you wonder where all that money goes. How about the vehicle registration fees , the most of almost any other state by five times, try to figure out how much money that is and where does it go. Try to not be sheep and investigate the truth before you follow blindly.
Yeah I’m guessing majority of these comments are from people that don’t actually live in CA. The money could be better spent on prevention rather than reaction imo. Like having PG&E clean up their garbage infrastructure.
Good.. they need to manage their forest.. our state has a forestry commission that does control burns and cuts…South Carolina..is on the opposite coast and its rare to have uncontrollable fires
One, that's a whole different geography. No real comparison. Two, most of the lands that need 'managing' are owned by the Federal government, hence not Newsome's responsibility.

@@cbob3605 Obviously you're not from California. 99% of the fires in California occur in NATIONAL forests. Who manages those? The U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. Who always ends up spending STATE money and resources on fires in NATIONAL Forests? Cal Fire.
