i've been thinking about this and i think korg is swinging at pioneer here not roland. this looks like it's trying to plug directly into small clubs with a 2 cdj system and replace one. the fact that someone could use a house turntable and just the replay by itself and they don't have to touch the house mixer is pretty appealing, especially when you've seen the price of pioneer equipment. i don't understand why they are campaigning this as a sampler because as a sampler, it sucks, but as a dj workstation, it might have potential
As an electrical engineer who designs products and also plays around with gear, I have absolutely zero idea where this $1000 is you're spending is going towards. Probably the most confusing thing about this is, at this price point, who the hell is the target demographic for something like this? The ultimate irony is that any one of those pieces of Elektron gear next to it would be a better use of money and do way more for you than whatever this thing is supposed to be 😂 I honestly don't know what Korg's problem is lately. They have some gear already out that is dope as hell sonically, but has some design and build quality issues like the Wavestate, Modwave, and the Opsix. I still find it pretty expensive tbh
That laughter you hear coming from Japan is the sound of Roland execs laughing at the thought that this Korg Replay (or whatever it’s called) is going to kill the SP 404 mk 2 😂😂
I’m going back to playing with djay2 app on the bus….. seriously , I have a KP3+ sitting next to my SP404-MK2, and Korg really do need to stay off the drugs 😂 They are a great company with classic Analog synths and filters , volca series, even the the Koass legacy it’s self is still heavy, but this biting of the SP404mk2 Form factor without a sequencer, internal memory, multi-outputs, aux send/returns ….urgh it’s like they had spare parts left and they brought the A-Team out of retirement to build sumthn. From the company who brought the world the Korg Triton, this is dismal.
This is no doubt aimed at DJs like the Toraize. That said, no sequencer at $1K is a dealbreaker. ...and who wants to deal with tiny micro SDs? That move was just stupid.
I’ve always been a big Korg user. Since the 90s. Usually because I couldn’t afford Roland or Akai. How TF they coming in at double the price point on an industry standard like the SP404??? They are a good company and make a lot of mistakes. The Electribe 2 had dope sounds. I loved them. Form factor was excellent and workflow was awful. Their analog synths in the last ten years have been so good and again, affordable. IDK WTF they smoking now.
The Electribe 2 sampler was trash. I agree! However, I loved that thing for some reason. It was a beast with modular gear. Though all my beats sucked on it. I was having fun.
tbh the Price IS WAY TO HIGH EVEN FOR A SAMPLER & PERFORMANCE & DJ DEVICE IF they would make a squencer, more globaleffects than one to assign, chromatic sampling, make it better overall!
I was about to have a sore spot of Korg because of this new Kaoss Pad... so many fails and asking Teenage Engineering pricing for it 😅... But, they brought out a plugin and saved their bacon on my eyes. I had a KP3 once and loved making transitions when coming up with loops of a track and would then replicate it with multiple effects plugins in the DAW when it can to making it into a composition. This was always a long, drawn-out process, and I just wish they made a plugin. There's no real benefit to the hardware unless you're using it live. It's definitely not worth coming out of a DAW and back in when effecting a whole beat unless you're just playing around. Not get enough quality for a master effect, and you couldn't send it off to be mixed either. Was always best to replicate the effects and automation... but man, that was time-consuming. Finally, they have a plugin of it. This device, even if they improved things with firmware updates... it can't change the micro USB... the Yamaha finger drummer only just gets away with it because it's not that complicated... but come on. It's like putting roll down windows on a luxury car
Not intended to be used for beat making or sequencing. If you were a DJ you would use this more for live sets and effects. Not recommended for beat making and you already said it yourself at 3:18 that you only use the other korg one you have for effects even though it has a sampler on it as well lol...
Lol. It's not perfect and the price is high. That said, I do like it. I feel like ppl are sleeping on the stream recording. I wish all groove boxes and devices (this seems more like an fx box) had that feature. Being able to jam and record and then dump the recordings into a daw for editing would be useful (for me anyway). While I do mpc stuff, I do love a groove boxes, drum machines and have synths. I believe I could sample and effect live and then finish in my daw. I'm sure it is hot garbage... but I like the idea.
"At first sight this groovebox is ticking all the boxes." Seriously though, even if this is meant for performers only, not producers, then it is just way too overpriced for what it does. And computer connection via Micro USB, are you kidding me? Who the heck still does that in 2023?
I watched an earlier reviewer on this and said if this has amazing time stretching… meh we’ll if it has stem separation msg… we’ll wtf y’all bringing to the table???
I would want this to be applicable for rock, the oldschool rock, where music is not quantized, and it has a good base already for it. Footswitch, midi in for tempo control, so maybe they improve the warping algorithm, and then I'd have a tool to play live with the band and being able to play samples along with music adjusting their tempo on the fly.

I knew from that thumbnail this was gonna be bad XD I guess Korg can't *always* knock it out of the park with a new release. RCA isn't the only throwback, loopop mentioned a 32GB limit on the card lol, and it came with an 8GB card. And they're bold AF with that $1000 price tag LOL
that's extra tragic
Price point is ridiculous. Great for beatboxers though. It's essentially like an improved KP3.
Korg is the first to have a touch screen
That Korg drum machine it's worth it ..... Welcome to the mini drum machine Triton
But also looks a bit like an Mpc Live. Thing is , no matter what they copied, the price is steep
it's portable?
@@AveMcree not sure what you are asking me tbh. If the Live is portable?
The Korg is not more "portable" than a Mpc Live or One or Digitakt or 404 Mk2 but only the last one mentioned is actually "really-portable" as in "no special trickery and accessories needed" . I still find it pretty expensive tbh
korg on crack is hilarious .. 🤣
That laughter you hear coming from Japan is the sound of Roland execs laughing at the thought that this Korg Replay (or whatever it’s called) is going to kill the SP 404 mk 2 😂😂
was interested...until i saw the price.
Kaoss mini pad is basically the same... They did nothing special
😂😂😂😂😂
Feels like the used market price of the earlier Kaoss pads will go up soon@@AveMcree
To go from the Electribes (I had a lot of fun with my old school Electribe Rhythm Drum Machine) to…well… _This_ , my, how the mighty hath fallen 🤣🤣
This is no doubt aimed at DJs like the Toraize. That said, no sequencer at $1K is a dealbreaker. ...and who wants to deal with tiny micro SDs? That move was just stupid.
I have the korg ds10 with kaoss pads pretty sure Roland never made anything similar that turns any Nintendo DS into a synthesizer
Hahahahaha!! U Crazy bruh!! Too damn funny!!
No sequencer 😹
at least korg got new midi keyboards right
tbh the Price IS WAY TO HIGH EVEN FOR A SAMPLER & PERFORMANCE & DJ DEVICE
IF they would make a squencer, more globaleffects than one to assign, chromatic sampling, make it better overall!
Akai Remix 16 vibes
nice video man... hahaha korg is smoking crack!!! jajaja man, i got to go to the bathroom :D
Korg went to a Meth Lab for R&D.
I thought you had one for review. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I would of thrown it out the window
@@AveMcree just what I’ve been looking for. A professional review.
Not intended to be used for beat making or sequencing. If you were a DJ you would use this more for live sets and effects. Not recommended for beat making and you already said it yourself at 3:18 that you only use the other korg one you have for effects even though it has a sampler on it as well lol...
BRUH I WAS WAITING FOR THIS TAKE!!!
I love korg but they are competing with Roland for being out of touch with the consumer! Yoooiiiiks!!
"At first sight this groovebox is ticking all the boxes."
Seriously though, even if this is meant for performers only, not producers, then it is just way too overpriced for what it does. And computer connection via Micro USB, are you kidding me? Who the heck still does that in 2023?
ngl, if this was $400 I'd be all over is. I love my KP3, and I do wish it was a little bitn better of a sampler
989 is Two Maschine MK3
Who uses rca? DJs.
It's not a good thing, but it's a true thing.
Lol 😂😂😂😂 u violated korg but I agree
The volcas was hands down their best invention aside from the ms20 and the arp series.
Minilogue was fire too
Lol, oh shit
I watched an earlier reviewer on this and said if this has amazing time stretching… meh we’ll if it has stem separation msg… we’ll wtf y’all bringing to the table???
Damn... It doesn't have time stretching? Stop playing!
Wishful thinking, I have little faith in Korg, due them abandoning the firmware updates for the Electribe 2, it had potential, and Korg threw it away.
