So happy when I saw this video was over an hour long!!!!! Kyle has to be one of my most hated characters in existence screw that man. Oh man book one Malta is the worst! I remember wanting to strangle her she's such a selfish little brat but man this series has some of the best character development I've ever read and it feels very earned and realistic. I also loved Wintrow so much while reading this series his heart is just so big and I'm a little bit of a sucker for soft naive characters. I also love the world of Liveship SO MUCH, like farseer is amazing but the world is just a very basic medieval setting and the world just really expands so much in this series from the traders to the satrap to the rainwild to the pirate town.
    SPOILERS
I actually can't believe people say Malta gets worse in the second book like she def does questionable things but also you get these amazing flashes of who she can be and how the traits that got her in trouble can also be used to save the entire family. Kennit will never deserve Edda she is just too good for him, I love that she somehow has this ability to see things so realistically but also be so optimistic. Ugh idk why Althea couldn't be the captain of the paragon in the end
I totally agree about the violence against women, what the hell was going on in the 90s? I also think it was more frustrating in this series because there were the seeds of this topic being actually talked about in a productive and beneficial way but then it never actually went there. I mean magical cures as a trope are not inherently bad but this one was not a good example.

I agree with everything you said. :D I am so excited to read more of RotE, to see which characters might pop up again, because I love them so much. It was so sad for me, that the ending of the series was what it was, as you said, it had the potential to deal with grief and trauma of survivors in an interesting way, but then ultimately failed in that. It made it so hard to really rate the last book for me.
