Let say you have VIP protection, and you are attacked, a car drives up fast with attackers: One of you guy blasting his G18 mag into the window of the car will lay down a moment of supression and hopefully injure/kill some of the people in the car. But then again PDWs kind of do that role better nowadays.

It takes a lot of effort, to make it not easily changable into a full auto. Semi auto takes an extra step, compared to full auto. If it was as easy as filing down a sear, the gun probably would be illegal. Allowing both is an extra step above semi auto, because it needs the interrupting mechanism of a semi auto and an adiddional one, to deactivate that. Btw: I wouldn't be surprised, if parts had a slightly different tolerance, so they aren't interchangable with other Glock parts. I don't mean the obvious changes, little tiny ones like pins and holes, so you can't drop a full auto trigger group into a regular one, stuff like that.
It was perfect to see the instructor dry fire into a slap, rack, fire drill automatically when in select fire. He's obviously done that enough times that it is instinctive.

They made gen3 glock17 pistols with a steel dual recoil spring assembly or is that one somewhat modified? I have a fairly new gen3 G17 but it has the older polymer single spring assembly so I was just wondering if maybe they changed it recently?
