This is the most comprehensive and easy to understand tutorial I’ve seen on RUclips. Thanks for all the effort you put in! I’m definitely going to play around with the voice AI tools. Great result!
@@dunnadidit yes it was very good. you managed to cover a lot of infos and explained very well. For me as a beginner you nailed. I have seen many tutorials but I have not seen so many how to apply them on a video edited from the start to the end. I loved how did you explained every detail and the sound part was great explaining every layer of it and the feeling you wanted the viewer to have Thank you for doing this!
This was freaking cool. Thanks so much for the break down, learnt heaps, esp the isolated sound design, Audio and how you did the composition, Amazing! Cheers for helping others! Stay safe, have fun! 👊✋✌👍🙏
RUclips is recommended me a whole bunch of your videos now and I'm happy about that. Commercial was epic. There's a lot that I took for granted until you broke it down. Crazy how much work and thought goes into a 30 second commercial.
Just learning Resolve, so this was a sort of mini course in filmmaking. Definitely showed me I don’t know much about the craft. Zero budget - still chuckling over that one, given the huge time and effort you put into the post production. Wasn’t planning on watching the whole video, figured it was too long for the end result, but I did watch it in the end. Thanks for your effort.
Thank you Dunna! I didn't plan to do a spec AD but now I do! I absolutely loved the breakdowns and you walking us through every step! Time to go shoot!
Awesome video. I have done a project like this before and this video shows exactly all the work that goes into it. It takes days, weeks and sometimes months to get it to a point where you feel like you can hit that publish button. It's a ton of work and yet you made it look effortless.
I haven't attempted a storey video yet but looking forward to the adventure. This video appsolutely has given a process to follow. Loved it good job and thank you 👍👍
Ideally 800 but it all depends on the light specifically. Even for dark settings, you might want to have a bit of a brighter signal and bring it down in post. If the lighting is just how you want it, do a test to see if 800 makes your dark areas noisy. If 3200 clips any highlights then its too bright. Hopefully that made sense haha.
@@dunnadidit yea thank you. I have 2 amarans before me but the background is kind of dark and I think 800 doesn’t record the shadows nuances there so it’s all bit contrasty - I could also put some light in the background but maybe it would be too bright so I think 3200 makes more sense as I want to have more nuances in the shadows and anyway top brightness will be my face around 60 ire

I'm trying to learn video editing and creating a story and have watched quite a few videos by now on different aspects. But this was the first one I've seen that goes through the entire process! And the breakdown of the timeline edits, color grading and sound design is so nice to see :) Lovely video!
great post! Love the process!!! I'd love to see how you use key frames for color grading or correcting! No much info out there regarding this topic! Cheers! ;)
Honestly this was pretty solid ! I’ve never shot a commercial however I am planning on shooting one but it’s hard to find a couple of people that are all available at the same time to be able to shoot it
Why you don't have more views on this I'll never understand. You shared the hidden nuggets of your experience, like how you had to manipulate the eleven labs AI to add a sad tone to the voice by including it in the lines it generated. fantastic.
Incredible! Im totally going to do a spec commercial within the next 3 months. Next year Im stepping up business activities so it'll be handy to have videos like this to reference as I'm learning... Do you have any other recommendations on edits where people going through this whole process in this way?
You can also track masks in the color page, add an alpha output for it and link the blue chain to the alpha output to make masks without having to use fusion. I love the sound design, I personally also do a lot of it in my edits, but I don't organize my tracks as well as you do. My tracks are all over the place 😂 Also, I'm disappointed that you didn't call it breaverb.
Totally! I did a bunch of masking for a music video all in the color page once! Thanks for the kind words about the sound design. Next time I’ll definitely call it breaverb for you lol.
All phases of this video were so interesting! I felt like I was on the scene and in the edit room with you guys! That log-leap transition is incredible and seeing how you made it work in Resolve is also incredible. So, was that the only transition and your 100 other clips just, what would you say, butted together? Or maybe "non-transitioned?" This video barely beats out my other fave video you did- $146K Electric Porsche. This video wins for its "how-to-do-this" content, the other for its smooth, effortless-looking, cinematography vibe while searching for a recharge station in the wilderness. You do make the coolest vids! Thank you for sharing this one. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great Video. Really enjoyed it and very useful for me again. I didn’t realise you had a music background, please send me a DM as I’d love to hear what you have done. I also have a musical background before learning (or trying to learn) Videography !
@@dunnadidit excellent, no wonder your audio is so good then !! :-) I’ve written a few albums and been writing music for over 30 years now. I find it a lot easier than Videography lol
I really like how you broke down the color and sound design and didn't just focus on the sponsored music bits. And I'm disappointed in myself for not noticing that her voice was AI dubbed. Something felt a touch off about it, but I didn't expect the AI!
cool spec. pro tip: make sure there’s brand awareness in ad. wide shot of her walking in with signage, walking past a cup with logo. shots like that will stick with viewer
That’s a great tip! The goal with this was one was to try to keep it generic since eventually you could replace the end logo with any business logo, but if you were making an ad more specifically that would be a great call.
The only element that felt weird to me was the the girls voice at the end. It felt off to me, and I had just chalked it up to bad voice acting. Finding out that it was a AI voice replacement explained a lot of it, but I actually think it sounded to sterile and environmentally incorrect than it did truly bad.
0 budget shoot recipe: own thousands $€£ worth of gear. Get a professional filmographer with even more expensive gear and tallent for free. I love what you're doing but come on buddy...
Did you find that me referring to this project, where I only used what was available to me and didn't spend any money, as zero budget took away from the video for you? In your comment, you've chosen to just be sarcastic, but I would love to hear if you have any suggestions for what else I could have called it instead.
@@dunnadidit sarcastic is my middle name. In all fairness I read that kind of a title as: guide to shooting commercial with zero budget, but obviously it wasn't the case and maybe not what you had intended at all. That's on me. As for actual title maybe "I used my extensive collection of gear and professional contacts to shoot a commercial with no additional budget" :P catchy, isn't it?
I love these types of videos...hey, shoot this with ZERO budget! But, of course, we just happen to have access to a $10,000+ camera or however many thousands of dollars a Ronin 4D costs. Lol! No offense, but, I'd love to see someone do the same thing with gear that the rest of us might actually have access to! Looks great in the end, and the editing tips are awesome, thanks. Now do a zero budget, cheap gear challenge next! Lol!
I did technically buy the apple fritter for the intro... but I don't think that counts since it wasn't part of the ad. Everything else was just working with what we already had. I'm fortunate to have lots of cool gear and stuff though!
@@dunnadidit even if the equipment is yours it is still accounted on any budget, plus hours filming, hours editing, location scouting, gas, props 😁, etc. You did it for free or for fun, not 0 budget 🤔😉
