The way my jaw dropped as I watched that breakfast cookie get absorbed into the vacuum! Idk why I expected it to have the same qualities as mine at home. 😂 Now, I have the motivation to vacuum my place, even if I'm stuck at half that speed. 🙃
Former gas station employee here DONT put anything in the vaccume like whole cookies or wrappers. It will vacuum them up but it's not meant to do that if you ever wonder why you go to a car wash and all the vacuums are down this is likely the reason. Someone is trying to vacuum up something they shouldn't and now it's out of service until the repairman comes.

My rule is if you bring something into the car then you have to take it out once we are back home, anything left behind gets tossed. I haven't had to throw anything out but I do remind them constantly and give lots of chances. We also check for trash everytime we stop anywhere- gas stations, grocery store, parks, even grandma's house 😂 any trash gets tossed asap.
I don’t quite do this but I implemented a no toy rule unless going on road trips. My kids are 12 and almost 7. I started this when my youngest was around four and prior to that it was just one or two small toys at a time, that were taken in once we got home. I also throw away trash each time I get home from things like bottles of water. I don’t say this to act like I am better than her, bc I quite appreciate that she shows all these real cleaning videos. I have adhd and struggle with this so much. Sometimes I'm on a good roll and then next thing I know boom it's a mess. But what you're saying about it feeling better in your head is so true. I also feel so much more calm
Yes, exactly. I have dailies, weeklies, monthlies and yearlies. Toys, dishes, anything that can attract bugs or critters gets done everyday. Even if the dishes don't get cleaned, they get put in the kitchen away from living spaces. I have to vacuum every day because of play dough and potato chips, unfortunately 😂 but if those are out of the picture, once a week is fine. Couch covers, dusting, bathrooms, sweeping, that's weekend stuff. Organizing and anything big is monthly. Carpets, ceilings and walls are yearly. Sometimes everything gets done more and sometimes less. As long as you *feel* good, it doesn't have to look good.
You should try a quick clean out once a week when u gas up and run it thru the car wash. I’ve been trying it all summer and it’s a lot less daunting. I do it on Sundays before my weekly commute.
Try every day. Put trash bags in the back seat for the kids to use. Don't use the excuse, "But the won't use them". Thats BS. I am one of four kids in the family. When we would take a trip my mom did just that .... trash bag was in the back seat and we knew we would catch hell from both parents if we made a mess. Trash went into the bag .... no ifs, ands, or, buts. It was what we were expected to do and we did it.

No, it is not a matter of people no having time. It is laziness and lack of parenting. However, your comment about starting small is absolutely correct if you meant starting training when your children are small, rather than waiting until they are big. But, even then, unlike the adage of old dogs not being able to learn new tricks (which is a fallacy), older children can be trained just as effectively as young children. I just may take longer to convince those older children that mom and dad are serious, since they too would be going through retraining to keep up on the newly acquired parenting skills.@@Firebird-6200

I love that your car clean outs look like mine! I aim for a clean out at least twice a month, but sometimes it's only once. Thank you for keeping it real!!!
I always clean out the trash in my car each time I stop at a gas station, quick shop or a restaurant. Either for a drink, a meal or gas. That helps keep the build up down!! 💜
This is AWESOME!!!! Lol I have 7 kids! And a BIIIG van and a mini van… a rule I started doing was every time to stop pick it up… ask… is there any trash? Or your things on the floor.. lest take 3 mins and pick it up… if you are waiting anywhere… good time to clean it up (keep some trash bags in the vehicle) and when you get home (most times) just do a quick tidy up.. things still sometimes get out of hand but… it is better!

I have a mini van- the trick is to have a bin- on a seat, in the trunk (where mine is so the kids can’t take stuff back out), wherever- and it’s for anything that needs to go into the house later. Every time you have stuff land on the floor it goes in the bin. No matter who’s it is or what it is, and then I deal with it once a week or so inside the house. I also keep a bag around for trash and when it gets too full/stinky it goes in the trash at a Walmart/gas station/my own bins if they’re out on the curb. This keeps the car relatively clean and then it’s just vacuum and wash when I have the willpower to do so .
Here's a tip! Every time I am waiting at the gas pump, I go around and empty the trash out of my car. And then I keep reusable shopping bags in the trunk, so I grab one of those and put everything that I need to bring inside in. Sometimes if there's enough time I wash my windows and mirrors with the forbidden squeegee! This has made such a difference for me.
