The cool thing that sets you apart from other sci-fi narrators is that you always tell the author of the story. Real stories written by real people not ai generated garbage. Nice work Bro.
The talk of a game that no one has done before reminds me of Achron. It's the only game where Time Travel is a an actual game mechanic. Some games to reset/roll back along limited paths but not full on time travel. It's RTS when you can jump around within the last few minutes of the "present" and make changes to past. Like send in an attack and it fails miserably, well go back and stop it from going in. Your base gets rush? Go back a few minutes and order units to be built so you now have a defense force for that attack. It takes time for the effects to hit the future. Like enemy force attacks your base, send a few units back in time terminator style to take out the enemy factory. Now those units were never built and your base not destroyed. But be careful of paradoxes as if enemy realizes what you did and changes order of his units to target your units before they went back in time then they never attacked his base so it's back to full strength as well as his army which destroys your base. It's a real mind bending game that you have to really think of things in a different way. One of the campaign missions drives this home as your base is rushed first thing at start of the game. The only way to survive is go back several minutes and start building defenses before the wave attacks. But it's unlikely to succeed however it does allow you to survive longer and get a larger force built so you can send back more. So within a few loops as each loop you survive longer and get more built to defend. Though the resource needed to do things throughout time is limited so have to plan carefully as it's not an infinite die repeat die loop. As the "present" keeps moving forwards and doing things further in the past cost more. On the RTS side it's a decent RTS the main appeal is the mind bending time travel mechanics that in theory are interesting to talk about but in practice require a whole new perspective on things. It's one thing to talk about general time travel tactics like taking out base before they can launch an attack. It's another to pull it off as the AI will be doing it's own to counter your time travel. My first play through I was drawn to the concept but wasn't until several missions in where really started to view things in 4D.
There is a legend that if they could just find the magical seat of power, they will finaly have access to this game. It is said it is called the "steam account password."
The only way to win is to opt out of the silly nonsense, while also pointing it out to the people silly enough to choose to play regardless. Especially when you see something on their shelf named "Lost: The Game" and can simply say "You just did."
The way I see it, there are two interpretations of the game. The first and simplest is play-training against information hazards, items that pose a risk to you simply by you knowing of them. Thus the game: where the moment you become aware of it, you lose. The second is that the game is more abstract, a representation of death or entropy. It is not something you can win or overcome; the only outcome is defeat, which can happen seemingly at random, but we nonetheless continue to play. To persevere though we know the game is unwinnable.
Man, I had long since forgotten the game, and because of this story, I have once again lost the game.
Of COURSE they got Doom running on it.
I'm glad no human survived to see ET dug up.
Copies actually were dug up. Just in case you missed that.

I lost.
I've been playing since '98,'99. I was under the impression it was a sociology experiment. An early study of meme propagation.
I love the idea of a culture that's more interested in games. Better to bond over a chess game than a machine gun
Chess is a game people have killed eachother over... with Guns usually.
Some of my favorite writing is taking singular absurd ideas to extremes. Good find and good read, thank you!
Ahhh, ok... guess I lost the game after 5 decades. I had forgotten it. :D
Great story; Excellent narration! I had a LOL moment when they described "Doom". LOL!!!

A mind game that proliferated in 2002 made a comeback.
Some will claim it's from the 90s, but it went global in 2002 and viral in 2004 or 5
I see the Einchar have lost the game. How unfortunate.

Merry Christmas, people. I hope you all have lots of fun. You are loved.
Maybe, just maybe when the right person claims "the game is up" we can all win, but until then, I just lost the game.
I am getting the hint of a anime manga with the same premise. Society had no wars, only game duel's.

Was it a game or a training program? The Kobayashi Maru?

@@brianopheikens2049
Literally buried it. 😂
@@danielboro2000 Atari 2600.
Author here! It was originally intended to reference "A Game for Someone", but it can definitely be applied to ET too!

I think I'm stupid what game did they lose?
Need game to get the chicks. Don’t lose your game bro.
The "game" of life. Or living.
I don't think you can "win it" even if many rich jerk pretend to have done it.
The game whose name must not be uttered.
Merry Christmas everyone ❤❤
I'd totally forgotten about this dumb troll meme.
but least some one made a good little story out of if it. so there's that at least.
Does everyone realise what the game was??
The Game of Life.
i only cottoned on right at the end.
Yeah, I think the Game is Life too. You can never win against entropy, but you can see how well you can play it.
There is no cake
sorry, wrong chat 😅 I may have forgotten something
Do we get an exception for Christmas cake?🥞
As per XKCD, 391, yes.
By the date it could be Whammageddon
