1. Profiting from his properties (hotels, conference rooms, Mar-a-Largo, etc) when he was president is illegal under the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution.
2. Bribery/intimidation to change the vote results of the 2020 election.
3. Gifted his ultra-rich donors with $7 trillion dollars (added to the federal deficit), which the American public will have to pay.
4. Selling the White House to the highest bidder.
5. Accepted bribes from foreign governments.
6. Stole classified documents from the White House.
7. Showed the classified documents to any number of visitors to Mar-a-Largo.
8. Refused to return the classified documents to NARA when requested.
9. Created federal laws ‘on the fly’ to prove that his stealing classified documents from the White House was legal.
10. Plans to destroy American democracy and replace it with a fascist regime, with him as President-for-Life.
11. Plans to indict his “perceived foes” from his earlier presidential tenure if he is allowed back into the White House:
a. Trump plans to start a prosecutorial campaign, using federal law enforcement as a weapon against his political foes.
b. Trump is trying to blame the Democrats for forcing him into this action.
c. There is, however, a nagging detail the former president apparently hopes the public will forget: Trump is threatening a nightmare scenario that he already tried to implement.
d. Trump would turn the DOJ on any Congressman he perceived as not being subservient enough to him and his wishes. He would demand that the DOJ indict these people WITHOUT EVIDENCE! He’d then push to have these Congressmen convicted-again, WITHOUT EVIDENCE.
e. Trump would jail President Biden and his family-for nothing other than not agreeing with everything the Mango Mussolini said.
Jesse Watters and Faux News should be slapped with an obstruction of justice charge. Here's hoping...

On one side you have a mountain of real world evidence leading to charges against Trump and courts will decide if it meets the bar of proof. The gag order is constitutional. A judge has the power to protect the integrity of the trial process by limiting out of court statements. The leading case is Sheppard v. Maxwell, 384 U.S. 333 (1966).

NYS limits the $ penalty to $1,000/each if the violation occurs outside the courtroom. However, incarceration is possible. If he violates the gag order IN the court there is a higher limit I think.

It's a tougher call than one might think. You're correct, he absolutely IS in contempt. Rock meet hard place. Judge knows:
-$1,000 per transgression is laughable to Trump
- he can't threaten jail (law: "up to 30 days") unless he's willing to follow through
- Trump in jail will appeal to all the appeal courts ... up to and including the Supreme Court (which in turn shuts down for the summer every year). Result?= near-guaranteed delay 'til after the fall election.
Thst's why Trump is goading/trolling the judge so hard.
Today Judge left the matter "to think about it". Best guess is that Trump's lawyer's inability or unwillingness to present a cogent argument threw him ... the judge wouldn't want Trump to declare them un-viable ... giving Trump the possibility of replacing them and starting all over again! Delay is Trump's friend.
Judge needs to fine $1,000 per transgression and move on. Create the record. Not encourage an appeal. Sad, but maybe someone else has a smarter option.

The judge needs to at least enforce 48 hours over the weekend and jail him, this way he doesn't miss sitting in the trial. The Judge has to worry about the APPEAL process, so he has to be careful. Even thought I think its BS he get to use this as an excuse for not being able to champaign, but in my eyes right now I don't care, he a defendant in a criminal case, other people would be in jail. I am so sick of hearing how Trump is being blamed for all this. There is a judge and judicial system who has the authority and power to make sure Trump does not put these people in danger yet DOES NOTHING. I BLAME the judges and the judicial system for allowing Trump to do this.

@@Drew-DTM I think their caution is due to legitimate concerns, being overturned upon appeal. Harvey Weinstein just had one of his convictions overturned, as an example.
@yurei8 they never have all these concerns when they prosecute ordinary citizens about being overturned. So, in essence, everyone is NOT equal under the law. The same as saying the system is corrupt, and it depends on who you are, the type of justice you will receive.
