How the heck this group is not that famous....? Since the first time I heard them, I always wonder why....they're too talented and their songs are too good to be so underrated.
Their reputation is damaged badly bcuz of idol school's rigged vote scandal and also bad management from the agency that's why. Knets will not let them breathe. Sadly, they're all talented girls.
It's because of the history with their survival show, Idol School. Idol school was infamous for having questionable votes and weird jumps in terms of ranking, so much so that it was very apparent that some of their members that made into the final lineup werent even "fan favorite" or being discussed a lot in many forums and social media, which made it apparent that there was some rigging going on. Hence why they are not as popular as the other produce series, because the other shows were careful enough with their rigging. Not only that, I idol school also had really bad news around them considering there were a lot of controversies about them mistreating all the trainees, and most of it was proven to be true and some trainees even confirming it years after the show. Overall it just made people want to avoid the result of the show, which was fromis. Allegedly, the producer manipulated the ranking at least 200 times. When they debuted, they got a lot of hate because of the votes. So much so that Gyuri, the 9th place, participated in PD48 just to show that she deserves to be in fromis because of her talent. It was such a questionable move but a lot of knetz praised her and loved her for it, because she showed herself really well on the show, they just didnt vote for her because it was apparent she didnt need to be in final lineup, she just needed to prove haters wrong and she can be back in fromis after the show. After that they started getting a lot of attention, pretty well in SK and very well globally. But it went downhill again after the Mnet manipulating rank and vote controversy. All Gyuri's effort to prove the haters wrong became redundant and they came back into the spot where people rather ignore them than supporting "rigged group". This made the public eye see them as "questionable group" as they are the only permanent group that came from produce series. The other groups didnt get a lot of heat, even when X1 confirmed to be rigged, they just disband and the members still got their fame, because they all were temporary group. That tarnished the group name and some members got a lot of hate because of it and the public always put magnifying glass over them, making "controversies" news over all the things that they said that can be viewed as vague or in no context form. Of course they are now in the prime spot of their career, but it cant be helped that their history, that was caused by other people like mnet producer, really caused them to be in a spot where they cant be famous enough but they are also not unknown, for better and worse.

It's mainly cos their show was not that famous in the first place and they had meager sales at debut. Considering where they started to where they are now, they're still very successful. They're not like produce groups or big4 groups that start out with a chart topper debut and 500k album sales

I remember the first encore for this song was rough. Then the second one was a major improvement. The "It's Live" is awesome, of course, but it is heavily edited with pitch correction. Hayoung and Jiwon had that acoustic version which was really great, and more recently they had a live stage concert of DM and they sounded unbelievable. Now they're straight up balling with this song. Like they make it sound easy. It is so hard to find a group that sets such a high bar for themselves and then they actually improve heaps and bounds like that. I feel very proud, I hope they do too.
for a legendary singer such as seungkwan from seventeen to comment on how incredibly difficult the song is even for him and to praise jiwon for how she pulls off the chorus it is proof of it
after this, i could confidently add to my headcanon that menow is the successor of dm, in that they are supposed to evoke the same emotion from you. menow, being the more mature and more self-secured of the two. i also now understand why menow was produced to have less energy than dm or stw. if played chronologically, that placement of the songs would make you fall in-love with the girls deeper as the songs plays on. discography and performing on the stage wise, its honestly perfect for the girls. i wouldnt be surprised if the girls next comeback would be a more grown-up version of stw with energy contrasting that of menow
