As a romanian, I am so so proud of her and her talent, of her embracing her romanian culture and not forgetting about it, maybe props to the parents for that too 🩷🩷
Never expected to see a romanian here and sadly in Romania i never heard of Sabrina so thanks for this. As a romanian that ate clatite 20 minutes ago i have to say it's the best for when you are home and if you go out you have to get papanasi. It's like law here.
You should know her by now, but that's ok. She's a professional basketball player for the New York Liberty of the WNBA. Her parents moved from Romania to the USA I believe when she was little, I might be wrong on that. Her popularity got started when she played college basketball at the University of Oregon in Eugene.

Hey, how come all (not ALL, I'm being a bit facetious) Romanian last names end in 'scu’? Does it mean something like 'son'? Like in English we've got loads of surnames that end in 'son'.
@@allrequiredfields Hey! Actually the suffix is "escu" and more or less means son/daughter of someone. In the 18-19 century we didn't have familly names but any person that was born was identified as "Sabrina of Ion" and you basically didn't have any documentation but because of people abusing the lack of system in 1864 was published by the ruler that united all romanian lands (Alexandru Ioan Cuza) a Civil code in which everyone was obligated to have a familly name and even though "escu" was used scarcely for a familly name before, after 1864 it got really popular and like i said meant "child of someone" but this was a administrative thing. Beside "escu" we have suffix "eanu" for people that couldn't take their father name or were not recognized and it's used in combination with location like "Moldoveanu" for a child born in Moldova. Lastly if a child wasn't recognized by the father and wanted to take her mother name then a prefix "a" was used like "asabrinei" but basically it means "of sabrina" again.
Papanasi are not simple doughnuts, but the dough is made with a kind of fresh cheese similar to ricotta. They are also deep fried, not baked. The topping is also not frosting , but sour cream and jam.
Thanks to this man, I had an awesome childhood! I still play with my son for hours until I let him win. 🤣🤣 MK3, my all time favorite, and I cannot wait for MK1! 🤘😎
Yo, you make us proud girl. PS: everytime i go back to thé country i Always have some papanasi topped with a lot of sourcream and blueberry jam. DELICOUS! DISCLAIMER: should never bé eaten as désert but rather as a snack cause its heeeaaavy AF (unless u share of course).
she should visit Romania. i used to live there in my early teens at the end of Ceausescu's era (his last 2 years and a year after that). so of course my memory of the country is the hardships of the communism and the early transition out of it. 5 food items that i miss from Romania though: - ciorba (kinda like a goulash) - sibiu salami (great eaten with peanut butter sandwich) - sourdough bread (in my family we used to call it "armpit bread" because it's sour and people used to carry it in their armpit while standing outside in line to get... anything) - butter (something about it is good... it's almost tasteless, but put it on the armpit bread... yummy) - branza (sheep milk cheese, kinda like feta but feta has an additional goat milk, a little bit sweeter than feta. my driver taught me to eat bell pepper stuffed with it.) i don't remember if i've eaten clatite or papanasi... maybe i have but they just didn't register. the sweets that i remember eating quite often in school was their version of eclair... it was okay but it wasn't very good, particularly the cream filling.
I visited Romania about 10 years ago and thought it was wonderful, and had so much delicious food. My host family cooked me some Sarmale? And those were just heaven.
When my son shares his UK chocolates. White chocolate buttons, a tin of Celebrations, Terry's chocolate orange, and Jaffa cakes. I'll fight someone over Jaffa cakes.
